Chapter:- 6

3 hours later: -

Amelia wipes her threatening tears and quickly gets herself together before continuing to exit the building. She literally has no time to think about the insult and the broken bond when she has another problem coming up, after leaving the Alpha room the first thing she did is take shower and cry her hurt out.

As much as she wants to leave the building soon, she can't go home like this.

Her eyes widen as she looks down to her watch when it shows her it is one minute before the last bus starts to leave. There's no way she could reach the station by then, but she keeps running anyway. The busy street only makes her steps harder and soon as she reaches the bus stop, she sees the bus departing, leaving a stunned Amelia far behind in the middle of the street crowd.

No.

No. No. No. This can't be happening.

Seriously, what did she even do to deserve such a shitty day? Everything has gone wrong since the morning and if Amelia thought the universe didn't hate her that much when she didn't get fired, she's pretty sure it does now.

She doesn't know what has gotten into her that he begins to cry out of stress and pressure as the sky that drapes over the city starts to darken, bloody stripes of the evening scorch fade as the night sky welcomes itself, preparing a clear, dark blue area for the moon and stars to appear.

Amelia cries and cries, shoulders hitching as the gut-wrenching tears keep coming out from her eyes, wetting the blush on her cheeks due to the cold temperature of the city. She sobs uncontrollably as her knees start to weaken and she's kind of grateful that people don't stare nor notice the crying omega who's shaking at the corner of the street.

"Miss. Amelia." She looks up from her hands that were covering her flushed face as she hears a familiar, husky and alarming voice calling her, finding her boss unbuckling his seatbelt and coming out of his car. Amelia didn't expect to meet anyone from the office here but then again, the bus stop is literally in front of her workplace.

"What happened?" Mr. James asks, concern lacing around his tone as he stands in front of Amelia. Worry is clearly written on his face as the crease on his forehead deepen and eyes searching for any injuries through Amelia's figure.

Embarrassment hits the omega due to her previous crying but she's glad that she can't see any hint of judgment coming from the facial expression of the alpha.

"I-I missed my bus."

"What?" A spark of confusion flashes on Steaven's face at the acknowledgement of her worker riding a bus to come to work. The idea of Amelia having to go through that everyday has never come across his mind.

The silence that comes from the omega makes Steaven question once again, needing a confirmation of such a newfound fact of his worker.

"You come to work by bus?" He doesn't mean to make it sound like he is trying to judge the omega. However, the overly surprised and disbelieving look from Steaven's face causes Amelia to break down once again, not caring about being professional in front of her employer anymore. Her face starts to crumple as she opens his mouth, ready to let it all out.

"Yes, yes, and I missed it because I was finishing my work for the extra hours and I was rushing so I could catch the bus, but someone stopped me and said something mean and now I have no transportation to go home and I have to walk home which is going to take me probably an hour to arrive there and my son is probably waiting for me and he is sick because I'm such a bad mother and I forgot to turn on the heater last-"

Wait, what?

She struggles that much to reach the hotel.

That is really a lot for Steaven to take in. He follows Amelia t know about things for his best friend but now.

"Okay Amelia, calm down please. No, no, no please don't start crying again. Shh, people are watching. Let's go inside my car, c'mon." The professional term of surname completely slips out of his mind as he desperately wants the omega to relax. Amelia is still sobbing silently and wiping her salty tears, shoulders jerking each time gasping air comes out from her mouth as Steaven ushers her to walk slowly to the car, gentle touches on her back and elbow sending her a wave of comfort.

"Are you s-sure?"

"Yes, of course don't worry. Come."

The alpha makes sure Amelia to sit comfortably in the passenger seat before closing his door and walking towards the driver section of the car. Once he's inside, he quickly turns on the heater and twists his entire upper body to face the already calmed omega, though the glum and sorrow is still written on her red and pretty face.

He feels a pang of guilt inside his chest when he realizes he was the reason why Amelia had to stay in the hotel later than usual. To be fair, he didn't know that Amelia's condition, but he can't help but feels like hitting himself for being such a cruel boss.

"Am- Miss Amelia, first of all I am really, really sorry for giving the extra work. I didn't mean to make you miss the bus-"

"It's fine, it was my fault for coming late to work and I deserve the punishment. I actually wasn't being entirely honest with you about that, by the way." Amelia isn't brave enough to look up and face the alpha while she's trying to confess her little lies.

"What do you mean?"

"I didn't actually wake up late, but my sons did. They have some sleep problems because I've made them sleep on their own since last Sunday and they are scared of the 'monster' under their bed that they couldn't go to sleep at night. I tried to cuddle them, read them stories and assure them but it took me 3 hours to finally get them to sleep. So, that's why I've been late these past 3 days, I don't have the heart to force them to wake up so early in the morning." Steaven listens to Amelia carefully; heart feels with admiration towards the love the omega has for her pups.

"Who's taking care of the now?"

"Adira, our Neighbour."

"You said, they are sick?" Amelia's eyes start to get watery again at the mention of her little hearts being under the condition and it was all because of her. Her voice staggers as she answers the alpha.

"Yeah...I didn't know what I was thinking last night, and I forgot to turn on the heater in her room. God, I'm such a bad mother. My poor baby." Steaven's eyes widen again as he starts to console the omega, hand rubbing her back as he whispers a string of comforting words to her ears.

"No, no I promise you you're a good mother. Every parent makes mistakes, Miss. Amelia and trust me your son's is so lucky to have you as their mother. Watching you like this is enough for me to know that you really care about them." Amelia slowly turns her face to see the confident look on Steaven's face.

"Thank you. I appreciate that." The alpha offers her a kind smile before his face hardens, not realizing his jaw starts to clench, making Amelia stare in confusion, intimidated by the sudden stony expression on the alpha's face.

"Mr. James, is everything okay?"

"You also said, someone said something mean to you."

"O-oh, it was nothing. Just some silly mockery."

"Tell me, Miss Amelia."

Amelia is kinda conflicted whether she should tell the alpha about when she leaves shower and some of the hotel staff talking shit about her, but considering there has been nothing but heartless to her, she decides he doesn't care about their reputation at all.

"It's Moni, she wasn't satisfied that I kept getting away from being late. But I swear it wasn't just that, she doesn't like how I am the only..."

"The only?"

"The only omega in the hotel."

Steaven sighs at the revelation of immature action of his worker and how close minded can someone be about this thing. Sure, the city they're living in has divulged the prejudice based law but as an ethical human being, Steaven has never expected such a attitude coming from a person in his work cycle.

The fire in his chest that has ignited before stays there, rippling its heat through his heart at the thought of someone degrading Amelia.

"I'm sorry that people like her exist. Believe it or not, as an alpha I'm really embarrassed by most people in our community. Your identity and position doesn't determine the moral and the level of wisdom of that person, but action does. I really admire omegas, like you, for example because contrary to popular statements, omegas are actually the biggest backbone of the human population. So, please don't ever let those jerks who have devalued you bring you down. You're a strong omega, and a strong mother ."

Heart flutters at the bestowed compliments, Amalia smiles gratefully as she glows red on the cheeks, the shade of crimson red spreads down to her neck.

Mr. James is just like her father who believes in work not position.
