Chapter 0006

MAVIN WHITE:

After I escorted my grandpa home and took him to his room downstairs, I made sure he drank his medicine before leaving him in the care of Angela and heading back upstairs to my bedroom.

I went into my closet and changed out of my casual clothes into a blue suit, preparing to leave for the company. I had a business meeting at noon with my shareholders and partners.

I had already contacted Henry Black to reschedule the business meetings for the afternoon and let my secretary know that I wouldn't be arriving at the office on time.

I took my time dressing properly, as the business meeting included discussions with foreign partners I worked with. Even though Grandpa Charlie had disconnected his company association from mine, I was expected to marry and give him a great-grandchild or impregnate someone before the year ended.

I knew I still had to work hard to control Grandpa's company, as his warning was only temporary. However, I didn’t want to take his warnings seriously or pay attention to his written will.

I walked toward my room mirror again to examine my appearance and adjusted my blue suit necktie to fit properly.

After I finished adjusting my suit, I put on my socks and black shoes. I then left the house and walked downstairs to my garage, where I had a range of vehicles, from SUVs to my G-Wagon and sports cars. Today, I would drive around the city myself.

I approached my black SUV, a Range Rover Sport, which was one of my favorite cars. I got into the driver’s seat, started the engine, and drove out of my residence to my company.

I was still thinking about Thelma, the young lady I had a one-night stand with. I thought it best to get complete information about her. I couldn't remember using any protection with her the previous night, and it wasn’t like I had a condom on me, as I hadn’t planned on sleeping with any woman.

Knowing it was her first time too, I felt bad for having slept with her roughly, especially since I hadn’t been with a woman before.

I finally arrived at my company's gate. It had been a smooth ride from home to the office, without any traffic along the way.

I drove into my company headquarters, where my office was located. We also had other smaller branches in other states.

I stepped out elegantly from my car and walked toward the company building, entering through the front door with bodyguards guarding the luxurious five-star facility.

I made my way toward the elevator and headed up to the third floor, where the meeting hall was located. I used the private elevator, stepped out, and went straight for the business meeting.

As a black man, anything from the previous night wasn’t visible on my face.

I was known for being very stern and unfriendly with most of my staff, and they knew to work diligently. Most female staff members avoided trying to seduce me at work.

I entered the large meeting hall and made my way to the head seat, where I usually sat as the CEO of MW Group.

I could see that most of our top partners had arrived, and they all wore displeased expressions since I had arrived late. The meeting hall fell silent as I sat down.

I had no clue what the topic of discussion was, as all I could think about was Thelma.

What had she done to me? I didn’t know, but I was sweating despite the air conditioning in the meeting room.

Fortunately, my assistant Henry Black was there to help me. He stood up and began reading the brief for the business meeting to all our partners.

He covered the new marketing values, pricing, and shares we had gained in our partnership with them.

We had only one top competitor: the BEEH Group. They were far ahead of us. After the meeting concluded, I was still sweating profusely.

I stood up to shake hands with some of our partners, but I didn’t have time to negotiate with them. I told them to meet with Henry Black and finally left the meeting hall with a displeased expression.

I wasn’t in the right mood to speak with any of our top partners, and I knew they were aware of my mood swings, as I had heard various comments about my demeanor.

I made my way out of the meeting hall and entered the elevator, which took me up to the fourth floor.

I stepped out of the elevator and walked toward my office door. My secretary, Mrs. Tonia Briggs, a middle-aged woman in a black suit, stood up from her office seat and greeted me. "Good afternoon, Mr. White."

Mrs. Tonia was a light-skinned woman, and I knew that she was married with kids. I managed to respond to her greeting, not wanting to be rude, before going into my office.

My office was wide and spacious, painted in white mixed with ash gray.

I walked toward my black office chair and stopped beside the huge desk, taking off my blue coat first.

I silently blamed myself for not listening to Dr. Amari’s advice earlier to have a quick medical check-up after noticing my sweating.

I took off my coat and dropped it on another seat. I wasn’t expecting any guests today and wanted to prevent any clients from coming into my office since it was Saturday and not a usual working day. I was sweating despite the air conditioning in my office.

I picked up my office telephone and called Mrs. Tonia Briggs' office line.

As the call connected, I informed her not to allow anyone into my office and to direct them to the other top staff offices instead. I told her to reschedule any important business appointments until I had time to meet with anyone.

Mrs. Tonia replied, "Okay, boss."

I immediately ended the call and put the phone down while I walked to my fridge. There, I took out a cold bottle of water to drink and calm my body.

I finally settled into my office seat and thought about Thelma again, wondering what sort of witchcraft she had used to possess my thoughts. I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

"Oh! Maybe it’s because I haven’t been with a woman before, but why can’t I just forget about her?" I grimaced, picking up my office phone again to call Sir Adam and find out if he had discovered any details about Thelma since he brought her to me the previous night.

The phone rang once before Adam answered.

"Hello, boss," he said, and I immediately asked, "Have you found any information about Thelma's real identity yet?"

"No, boss, but we are still trying to match her identity. The only match we found with her real image is Thelma Sebastian, daughter of CEO Conrad Sebastian and Melissa Sebastian."

I froze and sat up straight in my office chair as the revelation took time to register in my mind, comprehending who exactly Adam was referring to.

"What?? Which Conrad Sebastian are you talking about?" I asked again.

"Uh, boss, I think Thelma is the daughter of the CEO of BEEH Group," Sir Adam replied.

The phone line went silent for a moment. I finally replied, "I don't believe you. Are you sure you're checking properly?"

"Well, boss, that's what the hacker found. Maybe when I find another identity that truly matches Thelma's image, I’ll let you know."

I sighed heavily and replied, "Okay."

The call ended, but I was still staring at my phone screen in disbelief. I couldn’t believe I had slept with my enemy’s daughter.

BEEH Group was closely monitoring all my company activities and literally copying everything my company did.

For a long time, Steven Sebastian and I hadn’t interacted, even when we met at shows or award ceremonies.

Steven and I often competed for the Best Entrepreneur of the Year award, the Best Businessman of the Year award, the Billionaire of the Year award, and our companies were often compared to other growing companies that looked up to us, wanting to know which company was the best: Between my grandfather's company, named LX Group, or BEEH Group.

I continued to stare at my phone screen in silence before finally dropping the phone onto my office desk. I couldn’t believe that CEO Conrad Sebastian would allow his only daughter to be out late at night without bodyguards.

"This is unbelievable!" I said as I sat up straight again and switched on my computer to research CEO Conrad Sebastian and his entire family online for the very first time in my life.
