The folder was gone.

Every file, every image, every recordings Derek ever sent me, they were gone. Deleted. Permanently. No backup. No cloud. Nothing.

I sat there for a while, just staring at the empty screen, like it had no idea the kind of filth it had just swallowed and wiped out.

I closed the laptop slowly, leaned back in my chair, and exhaled through my nose. It didn’t feel like relief. Not exactly.

I should’ve done this sooner. Should’ve told her before it blew up like this.

I pulled out my phone and scrolled through my contacts until I found Gabriel’s name.

I hit call the button and placed the phone close to my ear.

He picked up on the second ring. “Yes, boss?”

“Status on the hack,” I said, not wasting time. “Did you get in?”

“We’re halfway through,” Gabriel said. “His firewalls are tight, but not impenetrable. One of the techs found a loophole in his office’s mainframe system. We’re tracing every device linked to his IP. Once we’re in fully, we’ll pull e

Crying in the rain had been something I did on impulse, one of those dramatic things you do because it feels right in the moment. But, like most of my impulsive decisions, it turned out to be a terrible idea. The next morning, I woke up with a sore throat, a throbbing headache, and a cold that made me sound like a dying frog.I ended up staying in bed almost the entire day.Not that it was such a bad place to be. The bed was soft, wrapped in white linen, and faced with a scenic view. It was the kind of view you'd expect in a resort.Ryker had really outdone himself with this luxurious suite. A cozy bed, a reading desk tucked by the window, a small tea table on the balcony with two chairs, and a soft rug. Everything felt so... intimate.Almost like a honeymoon suite.Don't get me wrong, it wasn't supposed to be one. But it felt like that. He'd woken me up earlier with a gentle, lingering kiss. Then he came with breakfast: a tray set neatly on my lap, piled with a bowl of warm oatmeal d

I didn't know where I was going. I just knew I had to move. The slap still burned on my cheek, hot and raw, and my eyes hurt from holding in too many tears. I slipped off my heels and held them in one hand. The pavement was cool under my bare feet, smooth in some parts and rough in others, but I didn't care. I just wanted to feel something that wasn't pain inside my chest. The hotel compound was quiet and dim, with only a few yellow lights glowing from a distance. While the others were still in the hall celebrating, I washed away in my own despair. The night felt like it was pressing down on me, but I kept walking. My hair clung to the sides of my face, the wind brushing through it, but it didn't soothe this bubbling rise of emotions building up.I thought about everything.Everything that had gone wrong. My life had become one big mess. A slow, painful crash I couldn't stop watching. There was cancer waiting on the side, like a reminder that wouldn't go away, waiting to claim what

"Hey, I'll be back," Ryker said, as he tucked my undies inside his pants pocket. "Need to go see my dad. Stay here. I'll make it quick. " I stared up at him, watching him kidnap my innocent G-string while I was left bare underneath my gown. He placed a little peck on my cheek, forehead, and then, a kiss on my lips before leaving. Even the sight of his back made my stomach release so many butterflies. Couldn't believe such a handsome, tall, and brooding man would be on his knees, pleasuring me, exchanging saliva and..Oh God.That was so... embarrassingly new. And tingling all at once. Never experienced such a deep level of intimacy with anyone else before. And it wasn't that bad. I let out a sigh, waiting obediently. But I couldn't deny that the rooftop felt empty without Ryker. The air still smelled like his cologne. Or maybe it was just the remnant of cologne from his suit that had been wrapped around me a few minutes ago.He said he'd be back soon. That I should wait. But th

I subconsciously wiped the remnant off my lip with my tongue. But it only seemed to have caused trouble. "Fuck, stop doing that." Ryker's eyes shone with lust. "Else I'll bend you over and fuck you, with the cold biting into your skin."I wanted to think he wouldn't be so wild as to engage in stuff like that. But this was Ryker Holland. He had little to no care about the world. And I was tempted to know. Fucking outside, with the possibilities of someone intruding. The thrill shouldn't excite me. But it did. I let my tongue slowly brush against my lower lip, before sucking on it.His eyes darkened."Now, you're asking for it."His lips crashed against mine. "You. Are. So. Stubborn." With every word that came out of his mouth, he bit on my lip so hard I thought he would draw blood.I whimpered against his lips, his body towered over me, blocking everything else so he was the only thing I could see. His hot, relentless tongue swirled around mine with an urgency that made me go wil

    >__Ryker didn't say a word as he pulled me along with him. His grip was firm, taking long steps, and I had to hurry to keep up. The noise from the hall faded behind us—the muffled gasps, whispers, the music turning distant. He walked fast, like he already knew the layout of the hotel. Like this wasn't his first time here.We climbed a flight of stairs in silence. My heartbeat was still wild, but it wasn't from running. It was from what I'd done. I still couldn't believe I'd actually kicked Derek. Right there, in front of everyone. The elevator doors slid open and Ryker stepped in first. I followed, my reflection in the mirrored wall looking back at me—cheeks flushed, lipstick smudged, eyes still burning from a mix of anger and embarrassment.Ryker hit the last button. Rooftop. We didn't talk during the ride up. The air inside the elevator was tight with the smell of his cologne and my own rising nerves. When the doors opened, the night's cold air hit me. I shivere

"Not a chance."She tilted her head, lips curving. "I heard you're trouble.""I heard you like trouble."That earned a soft laugh from her. She leaned in, whispering, "Maybe I do."But I wasn't listening. My eyes had already drifted over her shoulder, straight to Vanessa. She looked tense. Derek was saying something, lips moving too fast, and she forced a small smile. The kind of smile that wasn't out of happiness.I clenched my jaw.Her hand was in his, but her eyes... they flicked up once, catching mine. And for a second, the noise, the crowd, the music...everything went quiet.I could read her discomfort from here. The way her eyes were locked on me like she wanted us to flee. Like she'd rather be far from Derek.Annie's voice dragged me back. "You keep staring at her."I looked down at her, still dancing to the rhythm. "You keep noticing."She smirked again. "Hard not to. You're practically burning holes through her.""Maybe I am.""Do you love her?" she asked suddenly.I chuckled
