Ding dong!

At the sound of the doorbell, Benedict hastily wiped his hands on his apron and hurried out of the kitchen.

Opening the main door, he said with a bright smile, "Chelsea, you're back so early today…"

He stopped mid-sentence.

The woman standing outside the door was not his beautiful wife Chelsea, but her secretary, Landy Ferguson.

"Ms. Ferguson, what brings you here?" Benedict invited Landy into the house.

"Mr. Quinn, I came here to talk to you on Ms. Yarwood's behalf."

Landy looked calmly, almost coldly, at Benedict as she sat down on the couch and pulled out two documents from her briefcase.

Benedict looked down at the contents of the document, and his face froze.

They were divorce papers!

The parties involved were indicated clearly on the document: Benedict Quinn and Chelsea Yarwood.

"Ms. Ferguson, what's the meaning of this?" Benedict asked, his voice solemn.

"Mr. Quinn, we're all adults. You should know clearly what this means. Ms. Yarwood has already signed them. She sent me here to discuss this with you. The alimony amount is left blank. You can indicate any figure you want, as long as you sign the papers and agree to the divorce."

Landy pulled out a pen and pushed it toward Benedict.

Benedict saw the signature on the papers and recognized it as Chelsea's handwriting. As Landy had clarified, there was a blank space where the alimony amount was supposed to be.

Benedict smirked. "Will she agree to it if I ask for ten million?"

"Mr. Quinn, please be rational and know your place." Landy cast Benedict a cold look and added mercilessly, "Ms. Yarwood is willing to compensate you handsomely on account of your three-year-long marriage. Please indicate a more reasonable and realistic amount."

Benedict said darkly, "Go back and tell Chelsea I don't want any compensation. I won't agree to the divorce."

He had been married to Chelsea for three years, and they loved each other. However, Chelsea had become busier with work as her company, Dragonfire Group, thrived over the past year. The time she spent at home with him gradually dwindled.

Yet, he didn't think there were such huge problems in their relationship that warranted a divorce.

What's more, this divorce was between them. How could Chelsea simply send her secretary to tell him about it instead of telling him in person, and expect him to agree to it?

As for the free reign she gave him in the alimony amount, Benedict believed that Chelsea could afford whatever he asked for.

After all, as the only female CEO who came out on top in Arlen City in the past two years, Chelsea had long since raked in millions of dollars in net worth. As long as he didn't go overboard, Benedict knew that she would surely be able to afford something between one and ten million dollars.

But Benedict didn't care about money.

If he really did, he wouldn't have chosen to focus on managing the household and become the man behind Chelsea's success over the past three years.

He only cared for the relationship itself.

"Mr. Quinn, do you still not get the picture?"

At the stubborn look on Benedict's face, Landy stood up and huffed in annoyance.

"Ms. Yarwood is a well-known entrepreneur in Arlen City. Under her leadership, Dragonfire Group has become a leading company in the city. You're just a useless, good-for-nothing house-husband. You're not worthy of her! She's offering such a handsome alimony only for old time's sake. Consider yourself lucky and don't be ungrateful!"

"I'm not worthy of her?"

The look on Benedict's face changed.

He asked her back, "Ms. Ferguson, you should know the terrible plight that Chelsea was in when we first got to know each other three years ago. At that time, Dragonfire Group was almost insolvent and in a huge crisis. Who was the one who stayed by her side all the way, silently supporting her from behind?"

Landy went silent for a moment.

Finally, she said, "Mr. Quinn, things are different now. Please be realistic. I'm talking to you politely now because I know you once took great care of Ms. Yarwood. Given what she's capable of right now, there's actually no need for her to even sign an agreement with you. She can very well bring this to the courts and make you leave the marriage with nothing."

Benedict took a deep breath and pulled out his phone to call Chelsea.

"Ms. Yarwood is very busy. Don't call her!" Landy said, trying to stop Benedict.

But it was too late, as Chelsea had already answered the call.

Benedict glared at Landy, forcing her to retreat.

Somehow, the intimidating look in his eyes frightened Landy. Fear surged in her veins. She never expected that from the always down-to-earth and meek-looking Benedict.

Benedict retracted his gaze and spoke into the phone. "Chelsea, Landy is here at our house. Do you know about it?"

At the CEO's office of Dragonfire Group, Chelsea stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, staring at the magnificent view outside. She was wearing a business skirt, her long tresses cascading down her back and accentuating her stunning beauty.

She held the phone to her ear. As her gaze landed on the neighboring skyscraper, she said calmly, "Benedict, let's get a divorce."

Benedict's heart turned cold at the sound of her heartless request. "Why? You've got to give me a reason."

Chelsea explained, "Nothing in this world ever stays unchanging. Over this past year, the number of times I actually talk to you when I'm at home has dwindled. I've become colder and colder toward you. Now, there's a huge chasm between us that we can no longer bridge.

"You only care about stuffing yourself, drinking, and making merry. You don't care about becoming better. We no longer have anything in common to talk about. Right now, I'm at the peak of my career. I don't want you holding me back. I want a partner who can stand side-by-side with me and have many things in common with me for the rest of my life."

Chelsea exhaled out loud.

She had long wanted to say all these. Now that the truth was out in the open, she felt so much more relaxed. Even her tone had become calmer and steadier.

"So, let's get a divorce."

Benedict clenched his fists, refusing to give up on their marriage.

"Three years ago, you fell off the cliff in your car, and I was the one who saved you. When we got married, you even said that I was your Mr. Right and you'd love me for your entire life. You'd be by my side my entire life. Did you forget all that you promised?"

Chelsea shut her eyes in regret and bit out, "I've made it clear that nothing in this world ever stays unchanging! Agree to the divorce. Indicate an alimony figure you want in the agreement. I can give you a lot of money so you can marry another woman and live a comfortable life from here on. Consider it repayment and compensation for what you've done for me."

"Money might be everything to you, but it's worthless to me." Benedict chuckled. "Let me ask you one last question. Does your request for a divorce have anything to do with Henry Lewis?"

Chelsea paused for a moment before admitting, "Yes."

"Okay, I got it. I wish you all the best."

Benedict hung up, untied the apron on his waist, and flung it to the floor.

For some reason, Landy found him exceptionally frightening at this moment.

Benedict glanced at her and walked straight toward her. She jumped a few steps back in fright.

Benedict didn't do anything to her. Instead, he picked up the pen and signed his name on the papers before flinging the pen back on the table.

Landy reminded him, "Mr. Quinn, you didn't indicate an alimony amount."

"I don't need it."

Benedict then turned to walk into the bedroom. A moment later, he emerged once more, having changed out of loungewear into a casual outfit.

"These are the keys to the house. I'm putting them here. Give them to Chelsea."

After placing a bunch of keys on the shoe cabinet, Benedict pulled on his shoes, put on his backpack, and opened the door to leave.

Through the windows, Landy saw him walk out of the district and immediately called Chelsea to update her.

"Ms. Yarwood, Mr. Quinn has signed the papers. He left the keys to the house and left."

Chelsea sighed loudly at the news that Benedict had signed the papers and asked, "How much alimony did he ask for?"

"He didn't write anything."

"He didn't?" Chelsea exclaimed.

"Yes. He said he didn't need it. Congratulations, Ms. Yarwood! You've gotten the divorce you wanted, and most importantly, it didn't cost you a single cent. Mr. Quinn is choosing to leave without anything," Landy said almost gleefully.

The news didn't cheer Chelsea up, though. Instead, guilt crawled up her chest.

She sighed once more and said, "Let's not harp on this anymore. Come back quickly. Starlight Group just informed us that we've been shortlisted as a potential partner, and there's an interview this afternoon. Come with me for it."

"Really? That's great! Once we become Starlight Group's new partner, our group can scale up substantially."

Landy was pleasantly surprised. She quickly packed up and rushed back to the office the moment she hung up.

Meanwhile, Benedict had just left the district when his phone started ringing. With furrowed brows, he pulled out his phone and saw the incoming call.

He answered it and said almost authoritatively, "I'm in a bad mood. Don't bother me unless it's something important."

"Pardon me, Mr. Drake. A good friend of mine had a sudden illness, and no one could save him. I had no choice but to call you. I really didn't know you were in a bad mood today…" the caller explained, his tone humble and fearful.

Hearing that it was a matter of life and death, Benedict tried to put aside his troubles. "Who's this good friend of yours, and where is he right now?"

"He's in Arlen City right now. He's Derrick Marshall, the chairman of Starlight Group."

Benedict forced himself to forget about the divorce for now and said, "I can save him, but you should know my rules."

"I do, I do!"

The caller exhaled out loud and exploded in awe.

"You, the Eye of the Dragon, resurrect the dead and save the injured in exchange for a favor instead of monetary gain. Mr. Drake, don't worry. Derrick Marshall is one of the richest men in Arlen City, and he's incredibly powerful. If you can save his life, you'll be his savior. He'll surely help you out if you need it in the future. If he ends up being ungrateful and forgets how you saved him, I'll make sure he goes bankrupt overnight!"

"Alright. With your word as the chief of the Southshore Chamber of Commerce, I'll save his life. I'll send you my address and have someone come pick me up," Benedict said.

"Benedict, on the other hand, can't help me at all. I'm bound to be the most successful businesswoman in Arlen City. His filial piety, concern, and care aren't what I need right now. I'll divorce him the moment Granny's 80th birthday celebration is over!" she told herself.Thinking of how she could visit Derrick at his house, all because of Henry's credit, Chelsea started to compare both men once again.Meanwhile, Derrick gave Benedict a call, respectfully requesting that Benedict visit and check on him. He was feeling unwell and was wondering if his condition had taken a turn for the worse.Benedict agreed at once. He called for a cab and hurried over to Derrick's house. After he hung up, Derrick looked at his wife, Faye. With a half-smile, he said, "I gave Ms. Yarwood the project on account of Dr. Drake. I even gave her a higher profit share. I can't tell Dr. Drake that straight to his face, or he might think that I'm trying to claim some kind of credit. But I just called her o

"I see. I understand now. Since it's your grandmother's 80th birthday celebration the day after tomorrow, shall I attend it too?" Henry suggested with a nod."She slapped you today, and you still want to celebrate her birthday with her? Aren't you the least bit mad at her?" Chelsea asked with a smile. "She loves her granddaughter, and was just slightly agitated. It's completely understandable. I'll prepare a gift for her and apologize to her in person. I'll seize the chance to change her impression of me and resolve the misunderstanding between us," Henry said.Chelsea hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm glad you're so understanding and thoughtful. Alright, then. Please come for my grandmother's birthday celebration the day after tomorrow.""Alright, that settles it!"Henry was overjoyed that Chelsea was willing to let him attend her grandmother's birthday celebration and meet her family. That was enough to show that she approved of him!"How about this? I'll book a resta

After Benedict and Chelsea sent Helena back home, they each made up an excuse to leave.Helena held both of their hands and reminded them for the umpteenth time to treat each other well, and that disagreements were inevitable in a marriage. They just needed to talk things through and seek reconciliation instead of rushing to get a divorce.Eventually, when they started talking about her 80th birthday celebration, she warned Chelsea that if she didn't see Benedict at the celebration, she would stop the party and ask for a coffin instead.Chelsea had no choice but to give in.Helena was finally satisfied and saw them out of the door. When Benedict and Chelsea walked to her car parked outside the alley, Chelsea stopped in her tracks and turned to ask Benedict, "What do you want?""What do you mean by that?" Benedict asked her back."Did you deliberately bring Granny to the clerk's office so you can stop us from getting a divorce?" Chelsea asked, clearly suspicious."It's fine that

Henry suppressed the anger in his heart. With a hand over his forehead, he explained to Helena, "Granny, you've misunderstood. Chelsea and Benedict are divorced. She's free to date anyone she pleases. I'm not trying to be a hooligan here!""Shut up! Who are you calling Granny? Who's your granny? I'm telling you, my granddaughter and grandson-in-law aren't divorced yet. In fact, they won't ever be getting a divorce! Continue pestering my granddaughter, and I'll slap you to death!" Helena yelled, pointing at his nose.Henry turned to look at Chelsea, who furrowed her brows and said apologetically, "Leave us."He sighed before turning to leave. However, after taking just two steps, he turned back to provoke Benedict. "Benedict Quinn, what's the point of getting an elder on your side? Chelsea has set her mind to divorcing you. You're not worthy of her! If you consider yourself a real man, don't keep pestering and clinging to her. Get the divorce sooner for her sake. Don't keep her f

"Granny, this is between the two of us. Can you respect our decision and not interfere?" Chelsea argued."What do you mean, this is just between you two? I was young once and I know what you're going through! What God has joined together, let no one separate. Marriage is not child's play! You two began in courtship, and I can see for myself how much Benedict loves you. Don't be ignorant of how blessed you are. If you really divorce him, how are you going to find another man as good as he is? You'll end up regretting it!"Helena was old, but still very fit and had the energy to go on and on, lecturing Chelsea."That's quite enough. I can make my own decisions. I don't need you lording it over me! I'm getting a divorce, and that's final!" Chelsea said furiously."Fine! You refuse to listen to me! You're all independent now, aren't you?"Helena's face flushed with anger, and she started panting hard. All of a sudden, her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she lost consciousness.

"You old fool, are you trying to kill yourself? Rushing across the road like that…"The driver got out of the cab and flared up at the old lady. Before he went too far, he felt the cold, piercing stare from Benedict and shut up just in time.Benedict's hand slowly lifted from the crumpled hood. The driver glanced at his hood. Seeing a huge hand-shaped dent on it, he swallowed past his constricted throat. A chill went down his spine."Dude, I was at fault for driving too fast," the driver said. He began apologizing profusely, for fear that Benedict's slap might land on him instead.Benedict couldn't be bothered to waste his breath on him. "Scram!" When the old lady saw Benedict across the road, she was in such a panic to get to him that she didn't take the zebra crossing. She managed to escape unscathed only because of Benedict's protection. Had she taken the zebra crossing or gotten hit by the cab, Benedict wouldn't have spared that driver.Having been granted mercy, the driver
