Kimberly's revelation was so unexpected that Ava was caught off guard.

Originally, Ava had hoped that if Kimberly were to remarry, she could use the pretext of helping her to suppress Jennifer with Kimberly's power and climb up the social ladder by becoming closer to the Wilson family.
