Chapter 1002

Author: Summer Knowles
“I asked for it,” Sarah said calmly. “Don’t forget, that was your order too.”

Leon threw the knife across the room with a vicious glare. “Don’t touch anything dangerous again.”

Sarah wiped her hands. The apple juice was sticky, but his threats didn’t faze her.

Leon looked at her closely. “I don’t know if it’s just me, but… you don’t seem like the same person anymore.”

She didn’t even look at him. Her eyes stayed on the ocean through the villa window. It was the kind of view he’d probably spent a fortune to get—perfectly framing the sea.

“What’s different?”

“You feel hollow. Like all the life’s been drained out of you. Maybe Vivian was right. That car crash took everything you had left. And what happened to Scarlett… it crushed whatever was left of your spirit.”

Sarah didn’t bother correcting him. Her tone was indifferent. “This is just who I am.”

“No. You used to be full of fire, always so sharp. I want that version of you back. Please stop doing reckless things.”

Reynold Corporation“I’ve found out where Leon’s staying, but there’s a problem—he’s from Country H,” Melvin said with a bitter smile. If they stormed into the residence of a foreign national, it could easily spiral into an international incident. The only real solution was to lure Leon out of his house.Zachary’s expression was grim. “One of my men said Leon recently brought a psychologist into his villa. That same doctor escaped and ran into us. The guy nearly got himself killed.”“Did he say anything about Sarah?” Melvin asked.“We questioned him, hard. He wouldn’t talk. Even after roughing him up, we got nothing,” Zachary said darkly.“Take me to him,” Melvin said coldly.Zachary raised an eyebrow. “Think you can crack him?”Melvin’s voice was steady. “Won’t know till I try.”---Underground Cellar on Cedar StreetZachary lit a cigarette and waited outside. Inside, muffled screams echoed through the walls. Then—silence. A moment later, the door swung open.Melvin walked

Vivian took a deep breath, trying to suppress her rage. “Mr. Churchill, all three of you are major shareholders. You know exactly what kind of state the company is in. Wilson Corp is nothing more than an empty shell now. We’ve been bleeding money for months. Aren’t you worried? Mr. Spencer already agreed that even after the acquisition, the original corporate structure would remain intact. No one’s position would change. Isn’t that enough for you?”Leon let out a cold laugh. He finally saw it for what it was—these people had never planned on approving the acquisition in the first place.Director Westhill hesitated for a long moment. He knew exactly what Vivian was capable of. He also knew about Mr. Hartman’s grandson being kidnapped. But even though he was terrified, there was nothing he could do.Finally, after mentally bracing himself, he stood up.“Ms. Wilson, I’ll be honest with you. The three of us sold our shares a while ago. We no longer hold any real decision-making power.

Leon let out a long breath just as Julian dragged someone into the room—it was the psychologist. The moment Vivian saw him, her expression shifted. “So you found out?”Leon’s tone turned sharp, dangerous. “Why the hell would you do something like this?”Vivian’s eyes flared with defiance. “Why not? I hate her. You know that. I’ve wanted her dead for a long time. Are you really surprised I did something about it?”Leon leaned back, lazily spinning a teacup between his fingers. “Did you forget what I told you last time?”“I didn’t,” she replied, face pale as she shook her head.“Then let me remind you,” Leon said coldly. “Don’t ever test my limits again. I’m warning you, Vivian—she’s mine now. If you pull anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t even know how you died.”Vivian’s smile twisted with mockery. “Yours? Don’t kid yourself. If she really was, would you be this stressed out?”The psychologist, covered in bruises and one swollen eye, looked at Vivian in panic. “Ms. Wilson,

“What?! What do you mean he’s missing?”Even the assistant sounded panicked. “After school, I went to pick up Nathan, but he wasn’t there. The security cameras at the kindergarten entrance didn’t catch him leaving, either. I called his teacher, and she said he was picked up by a stranger.”Mr. Hartman shot to his feet. “What about the hallway cameras? Did they catch anything?”“They did—but…” The assistant hesitated. “You can’t see the person’s face. Not even the license plate.”Mr. Hartman nearly smashed his phone in rage. “Useless! You’re all fucking useless! Can’t even keep track of a child!”“Our team is looking everywhere, sir. Please, calm down!”He hung up, face darkening with fury. The woman next to him was crying, her voice trembling. “That’s our only grandson. You have to bring him back safely, no matter what.”“Stop crying!” he snapped, clearly agitated.Something about this felt off. Whoever took his grandson—what were they really after? Was this about money… or som

“He’s right. If I can’t change anything, maybe it’s better to just disappear for good. That’s what I’m choosing now—so can you let me go?”Sarah’s eyes were filled with hopelessness.Leon caught one word in particular “he.”“Who told you that?” he asked sharply.“The psychologist,” she said.Leon’s expression went cold. That psychologist? He had personally arranged for her therapy, with clear instructions: help her recover, not spiral further. So why would the doctor say something like that?He gave a subtle glance to Julian, who immediately walked out of the room.Sarah didn’t even look. She kept her eyes on the view outside.“The sky’s so beautiful here. You can see the ocean. If I died in a place like this… it wouldn’t be the worst way to go.”“Sarah! Don’t say that!” Leon’s voice tightened. “What about Scarlett? She’s not doing well. She tried to kill herself. Don’t you care?”Sarah flinched. Her voice trembled.“She… she has Steven with her. She’ll be fine.”“You sure

The psychologist asked gently, “Would you be comfortable telling me what exactly this is about?”Sarah’s tone turned cold. “No.”He nodded knowingly. As a therapist, he was used to people keeping things to themselves. Everyone had their secrets.“Let’s say this thing was your fault. Would you say you feel more guilty—or more angry?”Sarah’s mind flashed back to the day Mrs. Sanders pointed at her nose, accusing her. She remembered how rage surged in her chest.“Angry,” she said quietly.“With all due respect,” the therapist replied, “maybe you don’t actually regret it. I mean, if the same thing happened again, maybe you'd still make the same choice. Even if you think you wouldn't now, people act based on where they are in life. You were a different person then. In that moment, what happened felt inevitable.”Sarah repeated softly, “Inevitable…”Maybe he was right. And really, there’s no such thing as a redo.“If you truly can’t face it,” the therapist added, “then maybe it’s o
