Hannah’s POV

For two solid weeks, I lived on coffee, rehearsed speeches, and fragile hope.

I moved from one glass-walled office to another, from guarded smiles to closed doors, carrying the same file in my head and the same plea in my heart: Please help me. Please do the right thing.

They all refused.

The first meeting was with Mr. Lewis.

His office was on the twenty-second floor of a chrome building that reflected the sky like a giant mirror. I arrived early, palms damp, wearing my sharpest blazer—the one that made me feel like my father’s daughter even when everything else in my life said otherwise.

He shook my hand politely when I entered.

“Hannah Blacken,” he said, motioning me to sit. “What a surprise. I must say, you’ve had a rough couple of months.”

“You could say that,” I replied, forcing a smile. “Thank you for agreeing to see me.”

He nodded, though his eyes were already flicking toward the clock behind me.

I took a breath. “I’ll get straight to the point. I know Uncle Chen f

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 170

Hannah’s POV:If someone had told me when this nightmare started that the hardest part of my battle to reclaim my family’s company would be sneaking into Uncle Chen’s house dressed as a maid, I would have laughed—maybe even waved them off—but definitely not believed it. And yet, here I was, crouching in the dim light under a heavy mahogany table, heart pounding like a drum, praying that the floor wouldn’t betray me.The whole thing began with Mr. August. The hardest shareholder to win over.Chen’s grip on him wasn’t just financial or legal, it was personal, deeply personal. He had a video, damning, humiliating of Mr. August cheating on his wife. Something no one in his circle knew about, and certainly not something he wanted the world to see. Chen was using it like a guillotine hanging over his head.I sat with Adam and Josh in Josh’s living room, our usual war room, the weight of this problem pressing down on us.“How do you get someone to stand up to a blackmailer when they’re scare

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 169

Hannah’s POVThe moment Adam gave me the idea, I stopped feeling like a victim.I started feeling like a strategist.Chen had built his empire on fear—on secrets he could twist into weapons, on people’s worst mistakes held tightly in his fist. He didn’t need loyalty; he needed leverage. And for the first time since he stripped my father of everything, I realized something that made my heart pound with renewed power:If I could take away his leverage, I could take away his throne.I began with Mr. Lewis. His file was the thickest—page after page of financial breakdowns, overdue loans, unpaid interests, silent creditors. Chen had cornered him with debt, made him so desperate that obedience felt like oxygen.I didn’t call him at first.Adam had helped.“I’ll take care of it,” Adam replied without hesitation. “How do you want me to approach it?”“As an external contractor,” I said. “No trace back to me. I want him free before I even speak to him.”Two days later, I got the call.“It’s don

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 167

Hannah’s POVThe drive back home felt nothing like the drive there. When Adam pulled out of Enders Block, neither of us said a word for several minutes. The black flash drive sat between us in the cup holder like it had its own weight, like it was watching us. The streetlights slid over the windshield in dull orange streaks, and I kept rubbing my palms against my thighs because they wouldn’t stop sweating.“You okay?” Adam finally asked, his eyes still on the road.“I don’t know,” I admitted. “My head feels like it’s buzzing.”“That place gave me the creeps.”“You and me both.”I leaned my head against the window, watching the abandoned buildings fade behind us. We hadn’t seen anyone. No footsteps, no whisper, no movement—just that lonely chair and the envelope waiting for us like some silent dare. Whoever had sent that email knew exactly what they were doing. They had lured us there and vanished like ghosts.“Do you think we were followed?” I asked suddenly.Adam’s hands tightened on

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 166

Hannah’s POVThe morning dragged in a strange, suspended way, as if time itself knew what was waiting for us at four o’clock and decided to torture me slowly until then.I woke up earlier than usual, my eyes snapping open long before the sun fully crested the horizon. For a few seconds I forgot where I was, forgot the email, forgot Chen, forgot the abandoned building on Enders Block. Then it all came rushing back at once, settling in my chest like a stone.Adam was still asleep beside me, one arm thrown protectively around my waist. I studied his face for a while, the way his brows furrowed even in sleep, the faint line between them that only appeared when he was deep in thought. It calmed me a little, knowing he was here, that I wouldn’t have to face whatever was coming alone. When he finally stirred, I was already dressed and sitting at the edge of the bed.“You’re up early,” he murmured, blinking away sleep.“I couldn’t sleep anymore,” I admitted. “My mind wouldn’t shut up.”He sat

  • After Divorcing My Ex-Husband, I became His Boss   Chapter 165

Hannah’s POVBy the time I finally left the office that evening, the sky had already darkened into that dusky blue that came just before night completely swallowed the city. The building’s glass walls reflected the fading sunlight like sheets of molten gold, and for a moment I stood at the entrance, clutching my handbag to my chest, wondering how a single day could feel both endlessly long and frighteningly short. The email wouldn’t leave my head.I replayed every word of it as I got into my car, the engine’s hum barely drowning out my thoughts. The drive home felt mechanical, my hands on the steering wheel, my foot on the pedal, traffic lights turning red and green but my mind was still back in my office, staring at that line that promised information about Chen as if it were some kind of cruel joke. When I pulled into Adam’s compound, the house was glowing warmly in the evening light, the windows like little beacons calling me in. I parked, stepped out of the car, and as soon as I e
