~Lily

What… what did I just hear?

I’m pregnant? One week pregnant?

It didn’t feel real at all.

I quickly turned to Lucas, barely hiding my shock. “Lucas… did you hear that? The doctor said I’m pregnant!”

He didn’t smile. His face was caught between emotions. I could tell he was happy I was going to be a mother, but deep down, I also saw the sadness because the baby belonged to Adrien.

But honestly, I didn’t care. This was amazing news for me.

Thankfully, I was discharged early. I couldn’t stop smiling, still buzzing with excitement. In Lucas’ car, I kept checking the pregnancy report, over and over, until Lucas finally sighed.

“So… what now?” he asked, his eyes glancing at me. “Now that you know you’re carrying his baby, are you still going through with the divorce?”

His words paused my happiness for a bit. I slowly folded the report and slipped it into my bag.

“I don’t know, Lucas,” I murmured. “But this child… it feels like a miracle. Maybe a sign not to go through with the divorce. Don’t you think? I mean, it happened just when we were preparing the papers. I think I should tell Adrien. He has the right to know.”

“And I have a strong gut that this baby is going to change a lot of things between us”

Lucas didn’t respond. He just focused on the road, quiet and tense.

Right then, I sent Adrien a text:

“Let’s meet at Frost’s Café by 5PM. I have something I want to share.”

A couple minutes later, he read the message but said nothing back.

My mood dropped. The excitement slowly melted away.

The silence in the car made everything feel even heavier.

When we got to the café, I turned to Lucas. “You can go. I’ll just get something.”

He raised an eyebrow, clearly suspicious, but didn’t argue. “Alright, I’ll come pick you up in a few minutes.”

I nodded and smiled, pretending everything was fine.

He drove off, and I checked the time. It was 4:30 PM. I found a seat and waited for Adrien, hoping he’d show up.

I must have dozed off because I felt someone gently tapping my shoulder.

“Ma’am, do you need to go home?” a waiter asked politely. “You’ve been asleep here for a few hours. Is everything okay?”

Startled, I sat up and checked the time. “7:53?!”

“Were you expecting someone?” he asked kindly.

I nodded slightly but then shook my head. “No. It’s fine. Thank you.”

He recognized me, of course. Everyone here knew I was Adrien’s wife. After all, he owned the place.

Two hours had passed… and Adrien still wasn’t here.

I tried to convince myself that he might show up eventually. But it was already 8:23 PM.

Tired, I reached into my bag and pulled out the report. The reason I had asked him here in the first place.

“Where are you, Adrien?” I whispered to myself, staring at the folded paper.

Just as I stood to leave, someone slid into the seat opposite me.

It was Adrien.

“Seriously?” Adrien asked, frowning. “You call for a meeting and now you’re leaving before I arrive?”

I forced a smile. Of course, he was late because of Gia. That stung, but I tried to hide it.

“You never change, Adrien,” I said softly. “You always act like you’re right even when you’re not.”

He smirked. “That’s why I’m the richest man in the country, right? Rich people are never wrong.”

I let out a small laugh. I couldn’t help it. It was the first time we shared a moment like this in the five years of our marriage.

“So, what did you want to tell me?” he asked. “Please don’t waste my time.”

I nodded and reached into my bag. “It’s nothing bad. I just wanted to tell you that I’m—”

Before I could finish, his phone rang. He answered quickly.

“Hello?” he said.

I could hear the voice on the other end, it was a man.

“Any news?” Adrien asked.

“Yes, Mr. Frost. It’s Gia. She’s showing signs of waking up from the coma!”

Adrien’s face lit up. A huge smile spread across his lips. “Are you serious? Okay, I’ll be right there!”

He grabbed his keys and pushed his chair back.

“Wait, won’t you listen to me first?” I asked, standing too.

“Whatever you have to say doesn’t matter,” he snapped. “Gia comes first. She always will.”

And with that, he turned and walked out, leaving me broken again.

As I stared in despair, my phone beeped. I checked it and it was a message from Justin, Adrien's best friend.

“You want to know where he is right now?” The message read, then another one entered. The second one was an image. An image of Adrien holding hands with Gia while she laid happily on his chest. They seemed to be happy in the photo, piercing my heart more.

I chose to be quiet but Justin's text came again. “Why don't you quit already? Gia is awake. And soon enough, you will leave that house. Tell me, do you still believe that Adrien still loves you?”

I took my eyes off the phone. Justin has always been like this– always challenging me that I am not made for Adrien. I don't know what his stress is but he is always of the opinion that Gia is the best choice for Adrien not me.

This kinda makes me wonder if Gia had actually paid him to tease me out of my marriage before falling into Coma because I don't understand why he always tell me that Gia is the best choice for Adrien, not me!

After gazing at the text once more, I quickly typed: “Yes, I will!”

I shut my phone, packed my bag and left the café.

That night, he didn’t come home. No call. No message.

The next morning, I asked the servants if he had returned. They shook their heads, implying he hadn’t even dropped by.

I picked up my bag. I needed to go for a checkup.

I hadn’t slept at all the night before. I had stayed up, waiting for Adrien to show up but he didn't.

When I arrived at the hospital, I decided to pass by Gia’s ward.

As I got closer, I heard voices. It sounded like two people arguing.

With each step, the voices became louder and clearer.

Finally, I reached the ward door.

PIAAH!

A sharp slap echoed from inside.

I leaned in and peeked through the slightly open door.

Adrien was inside, standing in front of someone, looking furious. I couldn’t see the other person’s face clearly, but it was definitely a woman.

And then I heard his voice—sharp and cold.

“I told you many times… I don’t love her. She was just a replacement. That marriage was all an arranged marriage of convenience. I don’t love her and I never will.”

If we proceed, she might die!”I heard a voice flicker in my head. At that moment, I was so weak, it was hard to even process where I was. My body felt heavy, and everything around me was blurry.
