MasukSebastian's POV
I told Kane to pull over.
Through the tinted window, I spotted them standing outside the clinic. Marcus leaned lazily against his pickup truck, while Seraphina stood at a cautious distance. They exchanged a few words, then suddenly started playing that ridiculous game-rock-paper-scissors.
God. The whole scene looked like a low-budget Hallmark rom-com.
The temperature inside the car dropped. My wolf stirred restlessly in my chest, growling low as I watched them laugh like nothing had ever happened between us. Kane, sitting beside me, barely dared to breathe.
"Boss," he started, voice tentative, "maybe Miss Seraphina just instinctively calls Marcus for stuff like this. I mean... they were mates once, right? It's not unreasonable-"
The sound of the door slamming behind me cut him off.

Seraphina's POV
"I win," I declared, flashing scissors. Marcus had thrown paper.
His face fell instantly. "Shit.
Sebastian's POVThrough the window, I watched Kane stumbling toward the car.Suddenly, Seraphina's bag started ringing, making her jolt and instinctively scoot away from me. She quickly straightened up in her seat and answered the call in a low voice. "We're already in the car."My eyes shifted straight to her phone. Was it Simon?I spent the whole afternoon like a tightly wound storm cloud, silent and tense. I skipped my usual nap, buried myself in work, and basically turned into an emotional landmine. Unless you were my assistant or secretary, approaching me was not a great idea. That night, I drove back to the family estate.I knew Dad would be in his study as usual. I found Mom in the conservatory on the third floor, taking in the cool evening breeze. When she saw me, her practiced social smile kicked in right on cue. "What brings you by out of the blue? Did your father tell you Cassandra's back? Excited?"I kept my
Kane's POVOur car pulled up near Seraphina's, just a short distance away. While they were talking, I swear the air inside our car got colder by the second. Sebastian's eyes were locked on the pair outside, and the look on his face? Frosty enough that I was tempted to fiddle with the AC just to make sure it wasn't actually freezing.Seraphina drove off first. I started the engine smoothly, keeping a safe distance as we followed her. Halfway down a shady tree-lined road, Sebastian's low voice broke the silence, giving me an address I'd already seen in her file-her parents' place. What was he planning, showing up there? As we turned the corner, I got my answer-she was right there beside her car, chatting animatedly with a well-dressed, good-looking guy. They were both smiling, and every time she flashed one at him, the chill in our car deepened by a few more degrees. We tailed them out of the neighborhood, her compact car leading, our sleek ride trai
Seraphina's POVThe sky was already dusky by the time we finally left the villa. Sebastian was driving while I sprawled in the passenger seat like a half-deflated balloon. My limbs ached and I could practically see the dark circles forming under my eyes."We should come back next weekend," Sebastian said, sounding way too cheerful for someone who'd just spent a day draining all my energy.I gave a weak shake of my head. "No need for that, really."Let's be real-I'm just a regular human. Keeping up with a werewolf physically? Not happening. It might've been a dreamy day, sure, but my entire body was waving the white flag."You just need to exercise more. We can jog by the river tonight."Jog? At this rate, I didn't even have the strength to hold a spoon, let alone jog. I rested my head against the window, eyes shut. "I really need to rest tonight. Gotta work tomorrow," I murmured, already halfway asleep before I even finished the sentence.
Seraphina's POVThe second Sebastian laid me down on the couch, he looked even taller under the silver moonlight. With that natural authority he carried as the future Alpha of the Shadow Pack, it felt like the room itself went quiet."Wait..." I whispered, pressing a hand to his chest. But he was already leaning in, and whatever resistance I had just... melted away. When he got serious, my human strength didn't even come close. My arms bent under his firm pressure, and eventually, I stopped fighting altogether. His lips tasted like mint-gentle, but with a kind of pushy insistence that demanded surrender. He was mad. Was it because I said nothing about those women's things in the room? Or because I kept pulling away whenever he got too close?I sighed in my head. He'd never get it. If anyone had the right to be upset, it was me.Every time he looked at me with those intense, wolf-like eyes, my chest tightened like it was being gripped by some
Seraphina's POVAs the first rays of sunlight slipped through the glass dome, I stirred awake. The soft chirping of birds echoed in the distance. I slowly opened my eyes and realized I was sprawled across Sebastian's chest, my head resting on his arm.The sheet had slipped down to his hips, revealing the scratches I'd left during last night's chaos. I gently tried to tug the blanket back up."Cold?" His voice sounded drowsy above me.I bit my lip and pointed toward the pigeons perched outside the window. "I think they're peeking."He immediately rolled over and pulled me tight, the possessiveness in his hold impossible to ignore. I wriggled a bit. "We should get up. I've got work today."He tightened his grip, brushing his nose against my neck. "It's Sunday, babe. Even my assistants know weekends mean break."My whole body ached, especially my thighs. "Didn't you have a board meeting today?"His fingers casually ran through my
Seraphina's POVIn a blink, I was pulled into a firm embrace. The scent of cedar and amber hit me hard, his arms tightening around my waist. When his cold fingers lifted my chin, I had no choice but to meet those intense, almost dangerous eyes."Why were you so quick to bring her back?" His voice was disturbingly soft."I just... needed someone on my side," I said with a pitiful look, hoping he'd go easy on me.Sebastian leaned in closer, his warm breath laced with whiskey. "Who exactly needed protection? Something happened to my assistant? You don't think I could be the one to protect you?"His voice was low and gentle, sounding tender-but the grip around my waist didn't ease at all.Crap. Yeah, he was pissed.I clutched his arm. "Please don't get mad, okay? Let's go somewhere quiet and I'll explain everything."I forced a smile, trying to coax him down.Sebastian stared at me for a second, then suddenly leaned in and k
