I stared wide-eyed at the devastation before me, my chest tightening as tears burned their way into my eyes. This was the pack house. My home, the only place I had ever known. But it no longer resembled anything familiar. Trees stood like charred skeletons, their trunks blackened and smoking. The sheds, once filled with life and laughter, were reduced to scorched ruins, silent witnesses to the chaos that had unfolded only hours ago. Then I saw them. Bodies lay scattered across the ground, lifeless. Men, women, children. Even infants. Their skin and clothes were badly burned, yet they were cruelly recognizable. "Now go get prepared, and stop asking silly questions." He added, and I immediately understood what had happened. I had stupidly asked my question out loud intead of in my head, and now Beta Maverick thought I was referring to him. "I want to clean up my room first." I said in a low voice but he said nothing which was usually a sign of approval. I left for my room to clean it up, since there was still time before the assembly plus my room only needed a little tidying. [Dylan] I got into the ... wood shed where the whole pack had assembled just before the bell went off. At first, I was skeptical, not sure if whatever the assembly was summoned for was opened to visitors but after contemplating for a few seconds, I stepped inside, and no one stopped me. With the sitting arrangement, I could easily spot the Beta, the Delta, and the Omegas. There was also a group of werewolves who didn't fall within these categories, and I assumed them to be visitors or non important pack members so I took a seat among them, at a spot where I could easily spot Avira from where she sat in the least important part of the hall. Are those slaves? I asked in my head, referring to the others who Avira sat with. [Avira] I dragged myself off the floor after a few minutes of panting and feeling sorry for myself, and headed for the kitchen. Each step I took sent a stabbing pain to my brain, and in turn made me wince in pain. The herb water wasn't going to fetch itself or serve itself to the Beta, and if the Beta waits for another minute without getting it, I might just be due for another round of merciless whipping. For a slight second, his expression appeared as though he was sorry but after a blink, the expression was gone, and was replaced with a sudden coldness. It was as though I had imagined the sorry expressio
