Amelia.

The house still smelled like Noah.

I noticed it the moment I stepped out of my bedroom. The scent wrapped around me like a gentle hand I wasn’t ready for—strawberry shampoo, chocolate cereal, and the sweet powdery baby soap he still loved even though he was four and liked to tell me baths were only for babies.

My fingers pressed against the wall as my legs suddenly felt too weak to hold me.

Three days.

Only three days since we lowered him into the ground.

Yet the penthouse refused to let him go. His tiny sneakers still waited near the stairs where he had kicked them off.

Crayons lay scattered across the coffee table beside his half-finished coloring book. His dinosaur cup sat in the sink, the faint prints of his fingers still visible on the plastic. I couldn’t wash it. Not yet. Maybe not ever.

I stood there in the silence, chest aching with every breath.

My eyes moved slowly across the living room until they found his red hoodie. It was tossed over the back of the couch, the one with little rockets running down the sleeves. His favorite. The one he wore almost every day.

I stared at it for a long moment, my throat growing tight.

A broken sound escaped my throat. It was not quite a sob anymore. Grief had worn those raw already. Now the pain felt quieter and deeper, like something slowly rotting inside my chest.

With trembling hands I picked up the hoodie and pressed it to my face.

It still carried his scent.

My little boy.

A sob tore through me as I sank to the floor, clutching the fabric against my chest while my whole body shook.

"Mama! Faster!"

The memory came without warning. Noah racing through the park with his little arms stretched wide, curls bouncing as he laughed. The gap in his tiny smile. The way he called strawberries "strawbebbies."

I covered my mouth as another sound broke free.

The apartment answered with silence. No cartoons playing too loudly. No tiny footsteps in the hallway. No Noah.

Just emptiness so loud it hurt to breathe.

My phone vibrated beside me, and I looked down to see Daniel's name.

My husband.

For one pathetic second, relief flooded me. Maybe he was finally coming home. Maybe the distance these past few days was just grief swallowing us both.

My fingers shook as I answered.

"Daniel?"

"I'm still at the office." his voice came, cold and distance. The tiny spark of hope inside me vanished.

"I won't be home tonight." he added before I could say anything.

I closed my eyes.

Again.

Ever since Noah died, Daniel barely came home. When he did, he slept facing away from me. He left before sunrise and avoided every conversation about our son.

At first I told myself people grieved differently.

Now I was not so sure.

"Have you eaten?" I asked softly.

He didn't reply immediately and when he did his voice was laced with impatience.

"I'm busy, Amelia."

The words stung more than they should have.

Daniel had not always been like this.

Before I gave birth to Noah, he used to call me in the middle of meetings just to ask if I missed him.

Now, even hearing my voice seemed like an inconvenience.

"I just..." My throat tightened. "I miss you."

Silence stretched between us.

Then he said flatly, "I have meetings."

At nine o'clock at night.

Rain lashed against the windows while I stared out at the dark city skyline.

"I could bring you dinner," I offered quietly. "You barely touched anything after the funeral."

"I said I'm busy."

Then I heard it. A woman laughing. Low and soft.

I went completely still.

"Who's there?"

I was answered with silence.

Then Daniel exhaled sharply, like I was exhausting him.

"For God's sake."

My grip tightened on the phone.

"What does that mean?"

"It means stop interrogating me."

"I wasn't interrogating—"

"You're emotional right now."

The sentence cut straight through me. Like grief had made me irrational. Like losing our son had turned me into someone difficult to tolerate.

The woman laughed again, closer this time.

A cold feeling settled in my chest.

"Daniel," I whispered. "Who's with you?"

"I have work to do."

The line went dead.

I stared at the screen for several long seconds.

Something inside me twisted. Not jealousy. Dread.

My eyes drifted to the framed family photo beside the television. Daniel holding Noah on his shoulders. Me smiling beside them. Happy.

The kind of family people envied.

My chest hurt so badly I could barely breathe.

Ten minutes later I was driving through the rain toward Carter Enterprises, still in my house slippers, clutching Noah's hoodie in one hand.

The city lights blurred through the windshield. My wedding ring felt heavy on my finger.

Maybe I was overthinking. Maybe there really was a meeting. Maybe grief was making me paranoid.

God, I wanted that to be true.

By the time I entered the building lobby, my hands shook so badly I nearly dropped my purse.

The receptionist looked startled on seeing me.

"Mrs. Carter..."

I forced a weak smile. "Daniel forgot some files at home and asked me to bring them."

The lie sounded thin even to me.

She hesitated before nodding. "Mr. Carter is upstairs."

Something in her expression made my stomach sink.

The executive floor was almost dark when the elevator doors opened. Only one office had lights on. Daniel's.

My pulse hammered as I walked toward it.

Then I heard it. A woman's breathy laugh followed by Daniel's low voice.

I stopped outside the doors.

No. Please no.

My hand trembled as I shoved the door open. The scene inside shattered everything.

Sophia, Madison, one of Daniel investors daughter sat on Daniel's desk in a tight black dress pushed up her thighs. Daniel stood between her legs with one hand under her skirt and the other tangled in her hair, his mouth on her throat.

Nobody moved for a second.

Then Daniel looked up. Instead of guilt, annoyance crossed his face. Like I had interrupted an important meeting.

Sophia jerked back. "Oh my God—" as she quickly made to leave.

Daniel's hand tightened on her thigh. "Stay.

I stared at him in disbelief while Sophia shifted uncomfortably.

"Daniel—" she whispered, clearly uncomfortable with my presence.

"I said stay." he said to her before his eyes returned to me, calm and cold.

"You shouldn't sneak up on people."

The words hit harder than the affair itself.

"You're cheating on me," I whispered, as tears rolled down my eyes.

Daniel looked more irritated than ashamed.

"You picked a dramatic way to find out."

I stared at him, my mind struggling to process what I was seeing.

Three days ago we buried our son. Three days ago I kissed Noah's cold forehead for the last time. Three days ago Daniel held me while I collapsed against the coffin, screaming that I wanted my baby back.

And now he was touching another woman like none of it had mattered.

Sophia slid off the desk. "Maybe I should give you both some priva—"

"No," Daniel said sharply. "Stay."

I flinched.

Daniel loosened his tie slowly and looked at me with open exhaustion.

"You know what? Maybe this is better."

My lips trembled. "Better?"

"At least now you can stop acting confused about why I no longer come home."

The words slammed into me.

"Our son just—"

"Don't." His expression hardened. "Don't use Noah to manipulate me."

I recoiled at his words.

"I'm manipulating you?"

"You've been emotionally suffocating me for years."

Tears blurred my vision.

Daniel laughed without humor and dragged his eyes over my body.

"Jesus Christ, Amelia. Look at yourself."

My breathing stopped.

He looked at me with deliberate cruelty, and suddenly I felt painfully aware of every inch of myself.

"As if losing Noah wasn't already hard enough," he said bitterly. "Every time I came home I had to look at... this."

Sophia chuckled beside the desk, as humiliation crawled under my skin.

"I only became this after I gave birth to our son," I whispered shakily. "I have tried to lose the weight."

Daniel scoffed.

"You always say that."

"I did. The doctors said my hormones—"

"Oh please. There's always an excuse. You are not the only woman who has given birth to a child. so save your excuses."

My stomach twisted.

I thought back on all I had done the last couple of years to loose the weight, the diets, the gym memberships

The nights I cried in the bathroom mirror after weighing myself. None of it had mattered.

"You stopped being my wife after Noah was born," he continued coldly. "You became lazy. Fat. Ugly."

I stared at him in horror.

"And honestly?" His voice lowered. "Sometimes I look at you and understand exactly why this happened."

My heartbeat stuttered.

"What?"

Daniel held my gaze without any softness.

"That night, you were asleep upstairs while our son walked out of the house and got killed by a car."

I went pale.

"No..."

"You slept through everything like some stupid fat log of wood."

Tears spilled down my face.

"Daniel, please—"

"If you weren't so overweight, if you actually paid attention to your body instead of sleeping all the time, maybe Noah would still be alive."

The room tilted.

"No," I whispered. "No, I locked the door..."

Daniel's jaw tightened.

"Did you?"

I froze. Suddenly I was not sure anymore. Grief had destroyed my memory of that night. I remembered putting Noah to bed. I remembered exhaustion swallowing me. I remembered waking to screams outside.

But the lock...

Oh God. What if I forgot?

"I can never forgive you for that night," Daniel said coldly. "So yes. I cheated."

A broken sound left my throat as I covered my mouth with trembling hands.

Daniel watched me without mercy.

"You want to know the truth? Every time I touched another woman, it felt easier than coming home to the person responsible for my son's death."

Sophia looked disturbed. "Daniel..."

But I barely heard her. The guilt was already crawling back into my chest like poison. The same guilt that had been suffocating me for three days.

"I didn't mean to," I whispered brokenly.

Daniel's expression never changed.

"That doesn't change what happened. Now get out!"

"Daniel... I'm sorry..." I sobbed.

But he had already turned back to his mistress. He pulled her closer and kissed her passionately, not minding how it broke me.

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   Bonus chapter

AmeliaThree months after the twins were born, I discovered that having two babies left almost no room for romance. Most nights ended with Nathaniel and me collapsing into bed, too exhausted to do more than breathe in the same direction. But tonight the twins were finally asleep. The house was quiet. And for the first time in weeks, I wasn’t tired.I glanced at Nathaniel. He was lying on his back, staring at the ceiling like it had answers.I moved closer and rested my head on his shoulder. He turned his head. “Are you okay?”“I’m fine.”“You’re smiling.”“I’m allowed.”I reached for his hand. “Nathaniel. I miss you.”His eyes met mine. “I’m right here.”“You know what I mean.”He looked away. I sighed. This had been the pattern for weeks. Forehead kisses. Arms around me while we watched television. One careful hand on my waist while we slept. But the moment things threatened to go further, he found a reason to stop.I shifted closer again. He stiffened. That hurt more than I expected

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   The Christening

AmeliaSix weeks after the twins were born, our home was nothing like the quiet, perfectly organized place I had once known. There were bottles everywhere.Tiny clothes seemed to appear in every room, and someone was always crying, hungry, or in need of a clean diaper.Somehow, I had never been happier.Today was the twins' christening.I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the small pearl earrings Nathaniel had given me while trying not to wrinkle my dress. Outside our room, one of the twins made a soft sound from the crib.Since Evelyn and Mrs Wilson arrived, the only time I got to hold the babies was when I was breastfeeding them.I turned immediately."Which one was that?"Nathaniel, who was standing near the window trying to fix his tie, looked over."Alexander.""How do you know?""Because Isabelle, who is with my mother, has been asleep for twenty-three minutes."I stared at him."You're keeping track?"He looked offended."Of course."I laughed."You've become ridiculous."

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   The twins are here

Nathaniel.I had never driven that fast in my life.I barely remembered leaving my office. One moment I had been sitting behind my desk, listening to Amelia tell me she thought the babies were coming. The next, I was in my car, gripping the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles hurt.I had always considered myself a calm man. I handled billion-dollar negotiations without raising my voice. I could sit across from people who wanted to destroy my company and make decisions without letting emotion interfere. But this was different. This was Amelia, and our babies.By the time I reached the house, I hurried out of the car and went in search of my wife."Where is she?"One of the staff hurried toward me. "Mrs. Vaughn is in the kitchen."I didn't wait for anything else. I found Amelia leaning against the kitchen counter, one hand pressed against her stomach, her face flushed as she breathed slowly through another contraction. My heart dropped."Amelia."She opened her eyes. "You came.""Of c

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   Contractions

AmeliaThe twins were due any day now, and apparently they had decided that the best way to make sure I remembered that was to spend most of their time kicking me from the inside.I sat behind my desk at home, staring at the laptop in front of me while one hand rested over the enormous curve of my stomach. I had been working from home for the past few weeks, mostly because Nathaniel had become convinced that allowing me anywhere near the office was a personal attack on his peace of mind. He called every few hours to ask whether I had eaten, rested, whether the babies were moving, and whether I was sitting down. He'd even started asking the staff to report to him if I spent too long walking around the house. Still, there was only so much sitting around I could tolerate. I had finished most of the work that needed my attention, but I was determined to stay ahead of everything before the babies arrived. Once they came, I knew my carefully organized schedule would become completely m

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   The perfect Revenge.

AmeliaThe journalists had gathered in the reception area by the time I reached the ground floor, more of them than I'd expected. Cameras were already pointed toward the elevators, reporters speaking into their phones while others stood around with notepads and microphones in hand. The moment the doors opened, every eye in the room turned toward me. Questions began before I'd taken three steps."Mrs. Vaughn, did you know about your former husband's drug activities?""How do you feel about his five-year sentence?""Do you think the sentence was fair?"I kept walking. My assistant stayed beside me, looking slightly overwhelmed by the noise. "Everyone, please," she said. "Mrs. Vaughn will answer a few questions."I stopped in front of them. The room quieted enough for me to hear my own breathing. I looked at the cameras and reminded myself that these people weren't here because they cared about my feelings. They wanted something they could turn into a headline before the day was over,

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   My husband is coming

AmeliaGoing back to the office felt strangely satisfying. For the first time in what seemed like forever, I was sitting behind my own desk with a clear schedule in front of me and no immediate family crisis waiting to consume my attention. The familiar rhythm of the office settled around me almost immediately. Phones rang beyond my door, people moved through the corridors, and every few minutes someone knocked to ask for my approval on something that couldn't possibly wait another hour.I had missed it.I was halfway through reviewing a report when my phone buzzed. I glanced at the screen and smiled when I saw Nathaniel's name.Have you eaten?I shook my head, amused. 'It's barely noon.'His reply came almost immediately. That's not an answer.'I'm fine.' I replied with a smile. Three dots appeared on the screen, showing he was typing. Are you working?'I'm the CEO. That's generally what happens in an office.'His response took a little longer this time. Don't overwork yourself.I

Amelia stared at the divorce papers like they were written in another language. The words blurred through her tears until she could barely make them out anymore.DIVORCE AGREEMENT.Her hands started shaking instantly.“No…”Daniel leaned back in his chair with terrifying calm.“It’s over, Amelia.”

  • The Chubby Wife's Revenge.   He doesnt care

By the time Amelia stumbled out of Carter Enterprises, she could barely see through her tears.Rain poured heavily from the sky, cold droplets soaking through her clothes within seconds, but she barely noticed. Her entire body felt numb, hollowed out from the inside.Daniel’s words kept echoing in
