I sat with my back leaning on a tree and stared at Zara. I had never felt so weak in my entire life and I struggled not to close my eyes.

I knew I had pushed myself too hard, I needed to rest otherwise, I would not heal in time and would only be a burden to Zara.

I saw her lying on her belly, holding on to her weapon, ready to shoot whoever dared to come after us. I knew she was tired and sleepy as I saw her constantly struggle to stay awake.

I wished I could help her but I was too weak to move. I never knew Zara was this strong. She was so capable, worthy to be either alpha or luna. She deserved a better life than one on the run. I needed to survive and fight harder so I would give her a better life someday.

If I made it to the next day, I would do anything to give her a better life.
