CHAPTER NINETEEN

ALEX'S POV

I was feeling tired and hungry when I stepped into the Beverly mansion. My stomach growled embarrassingly loudly while I was being searched by the guards.

"Mrs Veronica asked that you see her as soon as you arrive." The guard said when he had finished searching me.

I walked wearily into the house. Everywhere was quiet and dark. I turned on the flashlight of my phone. Where was Mrs Veronica? Maybe she had slept off. It was already late. I decided that I'd see her the next day.

I turned to leave. My phone vibrated In my hand, startling me. It was an incoming call from an unknown caller. I wanted to decline the call, but then I wondered if it might be Emily.

I connected the call and held my breath.

"Alex, come to my office right away." I heard Logan's voice from the other end. His voice sent my heart pounding erratically.

"Alex, did you hear my instructions?"

"Y...yes sir. I'm on my way." The phone slippery in my wet palms.
