Chapter two~ALEX~I had left Big Harry's office, I didn't know how, but I found myself walking in the street, my hands tucked in the pocket of my faded sweatpants, the wicked sun gently roasting my face. I was lost in thought, the last thing i heard Big Harry say to me was; 'Think about it'Well I was thinking about it. It sounded tempting, but risky. If I should get caught and arrested, what will become my mother's fate?My stomach muscles contracts painfully, and I almost double over in pain. I felt dizzy and leaned on a car that's illegally packed by the roadside. The pain was losing it's intensity gradually, but I still feel faint. I sighed in relief when the pain subsided entirely. I felt my phone vibrating in my pocket. I dug around my pocket until my hands closed around it. The caller ID said 'Emily'"Hello?" My voice is husky.Emily's voice at the other end is tear strained. "Alex, I'm at the hospital. It's Mom."I feel panic begin to rise, like bile, to my throat."Which ho

Then he leaned closer to me and whispered"Just so you know Alex, you're on your own now."I gave him a look filled with confusion."What I mean is that, if they should discover that you're a woman, that you tricked them, I will deny you.""Oh."My nervousness increased. I was almost tempted to turn back. The big gates opened and I stepped into a magnificent compound and was immediately hit by the warmth of the sun and the scent of freshly cut grass. I was greeted by a sprawling garden that seemed to go on for miles. The greenery was expertly maintained, with hedges trimmed to perfection and flowers in full bloom. I noticed a number of fountains scattered throughout the grounds, each one looking like a work of art in its own right. But it was the pool that really caught my attention. It was an enormous infinity

_____CHAPTER SIX______The next day at work, there was no sign of Emma. Mrs Veronica didn't mention her either, and so I felt that she had already taken care of the issue like she promised.___THREE DAYS LATER____I had worked in the Beverly's Mansion for four days now, and I had not yet met Mr Logan Beverly. I had just seen a charcoal drawing portrait of him, and I had stared at it for a full minute, memorizing how he looked like. I didn't relate well with the other staff, there was no much staff by the way. Just the cook, the Gardener, the housekeeper (Me of course), the security guards(, there were three of them) and Mrs Veronica, whom I found out was the house manager. Her job was just to oversee the overall operation of the household, and to snge the staff. My fingers were raw from scrubbing the titles in the bathrooms and my back stiff. I carried am armful of clothes to the laundry room. The laundry room was big and airy. I yawned tiredly as I stuffed the washing machine with

I adjusts my tie, preparing to face another day at work,My secretary, a slender blond, in short leather pencil skirt, a polka dot shirt, strutted towards me confidently, balancing on her stilettos heel. "Good morning boss, the investors are here. They were about to begin the board meeting without you.""Tell them to wait." I said in brief voice."But sir--""Shirley, if you don't love your job, attempt to argue with me."She immediately kept quiet and collected my suitcase from me."Ah, I was afraid I won't catch up with you." I heard an all-too-familiar voice calling out to me. I turned around to confirm my suspicion. It was Chad, my younger step brother. He was dressed in an expensive looking suit that fit his figure impeccably."Tell the investors I'll join them in five minutes." I told Shirley in a dismissive voice. She nodded and walked away."What are yo

I commanded when I finally settled down on my chair."Well I followed Alex like instructed me to. He went to visit a woman I presume to be his mother."He paused and I nodded in encouragement."There was nothing shady going on. He didn't meet with anyone, apart from his mother and sister.""Was there a third person in the house? Apart from his mother and sister?" I asked after a thoughtful frown."Yes sir.
