Chapter 62

Phil squinted at the phone. He wasn't sure whether Jodie was messing with him or not.

Meeting a guy in a dark alley? Who the fuck does that?

No, Jodie was definitely messing with him.

Phil started to type another reply but stopped. If he engaged in this conversation he'd only encourage her. So maybe he should just forget about it.

Phil put the phone on the end table so he wouldn't be tempted to text her back. Out of site, out of mind.

But his mind kept wandering back to Jodie's message.

Did she really meet someone named Brian?

After tossing and turning for a while, Phil sat up in bed and reached for his phone. He knew he shouldn't give in to Jodie's crazy ideas, but he couldn't resist the temptation.

He opened his messaging app and typed a message to Jodie. "So where is this Brian taking you out on a date?"

No reply.

Phil was agitated but he decided to give it a time.

A few minutes later, his phone dinged.

"Why do you want to know? Are you jealous?" Jodie wrote.

Phil rolled his eyes.
