( Gemma’s pov )

“How could you do this to Seline?”

The Alpha of Blue Moon Pack and, Adonis Maslow and my mate growled at me. It broke my heart how he looked ready to kill me, his dark eyes reflected hatred and menace. Beside him, stood his lover, Seline clutching tightly on his arms.

“Adonis, tell me that it’s a joke. She…she is nothing to you.” I said pointing my finger at Seline, the Beta’s daughter with a frightened expression on her face. I heard the rumours, I saw their closeness but I wasn’t ready to believe any of it.

My heart was hammering against my rib cage. My mate couldn’t be fooling me. He held another woman close to him, the place which is rightfully mine. He had been distant towards me ever since we found out that we were mates and he had to mark me. I was the pack’s luna but our relationship was cold. At least, from his side.

“Stop pretending, Gemma. Seline told me everything.” He growled at me in his alpha tone.

“Adonis, please…trust me. I didn’t push her. She is trying to frame me and why are you trusting another woman over your own mate.” I tried to speak but another low growl from him silenced me.

There was no use of telling him that it was all orchestrated by his Seline, his childhood friend, perhaps his secret lover. She sees me as a threat to her. She always wanted him. How ironical it was. I was his fated mate but he believed another woman’s lie.

“I warned you many times, Gemma. I clearly told you that I only marked you because it was necessary. A traitor’s daughter can’t be trusted. I marked you because my wolf needed its mate. I hate you, I hate you for coming in my perfect life and ruining everything.” He spat venom.

I looked at him with teary eyes but he was cold and indifferent towards me while holding her protectively in his arms. She was smirking, her tears were fake.

“I swear on my mother, Adonis. I didn’t push her. Why can’t you believe me for once!” I shouted for the first time in last two months.

Two long, agonizing years since I found out that my Alpha is my mate and I regret ever coming to the packhouse to take blessings from elder Luna on my 18th birthday and she wasted no time in introducing me to the pack as her son’s mate but her son thinks otherwise.

“It’s fine, Adonis. Leave her. I know how a fated mate feels when her mate is in love with another woman. She did it out of natural instinct.” Seline faked innocence.

I just wanted to scratch her face but I refrained myself, it’d only present me as an insecure, desperate woman.

“I am asking you for the last time, Gemma. Confess your sin and I’ll reduce your punishment. You tried to kill a pack member and there’s no way I’d let it go.” He warned me in a dangerous tone and my whole body shivered.

“I won’t confess a lie, Alpha. If you want to punish me then go ahead.” I said in a blank tone which seemed to trigger his anger even more.

He marched towards me and sunk his claws in my arms. I winced as blood trickled down but I maintained a calm composure. I am a pack warrior and trained to bear the worst.

“The maids saw you pushing her and this is enough to announce you a criminal because attacking a high rank wolf without Alpha’s permission is called treason in Blue Moon Pack.” He whispered in a dangerous tone.

The sinister glint in his black eyes proved that he needed this excuse to get rid off me. Why didn’t I see it coming? Why I hoped that one day he recognized our bond and come back to me?

His hatred was mocking back at me.

I lowered my head in surrender because there was no way that I could win an Alpha. He’d rip me in pieces.

“Apologize to Seline right now, Gemma. I am sick of your stubborn behaviour.” He ordered me and Sadie, my wolf growled in retaliation. I have a Gamma’s blood in me. There’s no way I’d rub my nose on her feet because I hadn’t done anything.

“I am sorry, Adonis but I won’t apologize to your lover because I am innocent. You have stabbed my trust. I thought you were just cold towards me but you are worse. A cheater!” I said in a low but firm voice.

In the next moment, I was thrashed against the wall, he slapped me hard and as the impact, I fell down on the floor.

A sharp pain shot through my belly and I coiled on the floor with unbearable pain. I felt a hot liquid dripping between my legs.

My body was in unbearable pain but I endured everything in silence because if I rebel again, he’d kill me but I have to live for my widow mother. Her life would become a hell if something happens to me.

“How dare you to accuse me of something you are good at doing. Guards! Throw her in the cell. She will be presented in front of the assembly tonight. I will make my judgement there. The whole pack must see how we punish a traitor.” He ordered the waiting guards and left.

My heart shook with fear even though I was on the verge of passing out. The guards started dragging me. Seline bend down to my level and removed my hairs from my bloodied face.

“I warned you many times, foolish girl but you never listened. Adonis is mine. I have loved him since we were kids and I won’t give up him for someone like you. Now, face the aftermath of your stupidity. I will make sure that you won’t see tomorrow’s sun.” She said in a low whisper.

They started dragging me out of the packhouse. The maids and everyone threw me disgusted glances, they were made to believe that I tried to kill their Beta’s only daughter. They were the same people who used to respect me for my services.

I was thrown into a dark cell. The same place where I have punished many rogues. They chained me in silver shackles. They shred my clothes and splashed icy cold water on my naked body before whipping me continuously.

My skin was peeled off, the effect of silver weakened my wolf. She tried to fight back but the long hours of hellish torture forced her to give up and I was scared if I had lost her.

I’d survive for a long time if she dies.

I was laying lifelessly on the cold, blood matted floor, praying for this torture to be over when I smelled his scent. He was coming close to me. My heart shook with fear when the doors burst open and the Beta entered, he smirked seeing me tied to the silver chains.

“Oh, you are still alive. I must say you are a stubborn one. You are indeed that bastard’s daughter but I will make sure that Adonis removes you completely from his life. My daughter is his” He said with a hint of viciousness.

“Plea..please…let..me..go. I will..apologize to..Seline..and the pack.” I said in a broken voice in a hope that he’d allow me to go and I could leave this pack with my mother.

“It’s too late for that. I have a news for you.” He knelt down to my level, my eyes were slowly closing.

“You just a miscarried baby, a baby which isn’t the Apha’s. At least, what I have made him believe.” His eyes shone with a sinister glint.

My heart skipped a beat. What was he talking about? He just said that I had lost a baby.

I was pregnant?

[ Gemma ]“Alpha, this is not our right to say a word about your family’s private matters but banishing your grandparents from your pack’s internal affairs.” Mr. Miguel Sorreno said.“I have my valid reasons to ban them, Mr. Sorreno. I hope you respect our cordial cooperation and think about our mutual benefits over our internal matters.” Giovanni responded. It was polite but firm answer. The dinner had started with formal conversation. It wasn’t as sophisticated as I predicted. They were less haughty people. Emiliano was mostly talking to Giovanni, it was their security related matter whereas Carlotta felt out of the place, looking quite uncomfortable.Everyone’s judging eyes were on her so I could understand her situation.“Emiliano, after dinner, take Carlotta for a walk. The wedding is in three weeks and you both barely spent any time together to know each other.” Emiliano’s mother, Julia said to him.Carlotta shifted beside me but I held her hand under the table and tried to calm

[ Gemma ]“Have you lost your mind?”Giovanni yelled at me and I closed my eyes. He was fuming in anger but I remained silent and let him scold me.“What you did is called stupidity not heroism or kindness, Gemma. My mother isn’t in her right state of mind and you allowed her to beat you. What were you thinking?” He again unleashed his anger on me.“She was very scared of me and others and the only way to make her realize that we’re not danger was to allow her to punish me. She saw me as one of those who tortured her. Probably your grandmother.” I said but the last part was to myself. His eyes flickered and fists clenched.“Ouch!” I winced as Carlotta pressed my bruises a little harder when she was applying ointment on my bruises which covered my arms and back.“Oh, I am sorry, Regina. I will be more careful.” She quickly apologized.“It’s fine, Carlotta. You can continue.” I said.“Of course you will be fine, you are an iron woman.” He mocked me with crossed hands.“No, I am not an i

[ Gemma ]“Don’t be nervous, Carlotta, I and your brother will be there all the time.” I tried to assure a fretting Carlotta.“Yes, you will but Emiliano will also be there. He creeps me.” She said making a crying face.“Hey, don’t say like that. He is your would-be husband. You should have respect for him.” Her mother glared her.“Regina, I’ll see you outside. Just pick a dress for me.” She flared her nose angrily and walked out of the clothing store.“Regina, she lives at the packhouse against our wish. We can’t disobey the alpha but I want you to keep her in a leash. She needs to behave like a woman or she’s going to ruin our name.” Her mother said and with a disappointed mood, she left.“Such a dysfunctional family.” I sighed and started rummaging through the dresses. She had to pick a dress to wear for the evening. Her mother was the one running behind her, at a point, it was really annoying because she kept pestering her daughter with ‘do & don’ts’. She really wanted this marria

[ Gemma ]“Are you feeling better now, Amore?”Giovanni softly asked me while his one hand gently stroked my hairs and his other hand caressed my bare waist.“Hmm.”I nestled more into him. I just wanted to be close to him because his closeness provided me warmth and also the hope that he’d not allow any evil or danger to come near me and Eliot. I had to trust him because he was the only one who’d keep us safe.“Gemma, are you still thinking about that bastard?” He asked me, there was bitterness in his tone.“No, I just want to rest.” I partially lied because I didn’t want to stress for something which shouldn’t come between us when we had a loads of other responsibilities. He made me look at him. His pupils reflected concern for me.“If you still have doubts, don’t let them stress you because I want you to focus on your new life where men like Adonis doesn’t exist nor he’ll ever dare to come around because I am going to finish his specie before he plans something evil.” He said under

[ Gemma ]“Seriously? You want me to play a bandit for your crazy ideas? Do you take me for a hooligan?”Leonardo spit out the coffee he was sipping when I asked him for help. Somewhere, I predicted this reaction so I stayed focused because it was easier to persuade him than his brother.“Yes, I know what I am asking from you, Mr. Orsini. Your mother needs medical aid and the best doctor who can help her mental condition, it’s Dr. Frazer in Yellow Mist Pack, the first pack you plundered and we have no idea how it has been doing.” I said.He glared me. It was evident on his face that I stepped on his pride and offended him but I stated the fact.“I won’t do it. I don’t know how my brother gave you permission to plan something stupid and insane. My mother’s condition can’t be treated. We consulted the best doctors in south and also in the Lycan’s world but there was none.” He said looking away.“But you didn’t search in north, Mr. Orsini. If I am saying that Dr. Frazer had helped many p

[ Gemma ]“You told them to leave?” I asked my mate blinking my eyes several times because it was really hard for me to believe that Giovanni actually stood up against them and took a decision. He was silent and his expressions were undecipherable. Unlike many men, he could still be vulnerable when people could mistake him as being angry or in a bad mood.I knew him, he was battling with his inner demons.“I had no other punishment for an old couple. If killing a kin was allowed, I’d have slayed my uncles a long time ago but I know better to control myself. I had to rise to power first before I take everything in control and today, I showed them their real place.” He said quietly.“I understand, Gio. Their sins can’t be forgiven but their old age is an advantage for them. In this way, they’d still lead a luxurious life after playing with an innocent woman’s life and destroying her sons’ childhood.” I said disdainfully.“It is the most severe punishment for them, Gemma. I cut their win
