“Adonis, if you give me your permission, we can arrange a charity gala. I know it’s a new concept and never happened in werewolf world but I see it as a way to get into highlight. Everyone will only talk about us. We’ll receive donations on the name of charity.” Seline suggested me and my head snapped in her direction.
“This is the waste of money and I am not a thug who will use the money we’ll receive in donation for good work and this is not a right time to throw parties.” I flatly refused her idea and her face fell.
“I know, the finances are tight nowadays. You can blame Gemma for this. She might have stolen the pack’s money and sent it to her secret lover. I mean we’re one of the biggest packs. We have many resources of income.” Seline accused Gemma.
My wolf, Rykar growled in my head. Unlike me, he can’t hear a word against his mate.
“Gemma wasn’t a thief. I have all her financial records. She never stole a single penny or I would have known.” I clarified.
“You still have a soft corner for her even when she backstabbed you?” She scoffed.
“It’s my personal matter, Seline. She received her punishment for her sins. Let’s not mention her ever again.” I said in a flat tone.
“Exactly, this is my point. People are still discussing about her. Not only our pack but also the other packs who see her as a hero and doesn’t believe that she was the one to betray you. We need to distract their attention. Let’s give them an unforgettable party. We’ll meet other packs and form new alliance.” She said with sparkling eyes.
I thought about her idea. Although, it might prove expensive for us but I can also find out about Alpha Axel’s plans and also take other packs in confidence. It will be a chance to find out if Gemma is hiding somewhere or she’s….
I shook my head to get rid of the negative thoughts.
“The upcoming Sunday is your birthday, Adonis. It will be the perfect occasion to call for everyone.” She added.
I knew she’s very good with such social events. She had been in hospitality business and have a reputation in event organizing industries.
“Alright, you can arrange a gala but make sure we don’t exceed the budget limit and no need of extravagance or it might backfire on us.” I gave her my approval with heavy heart because for last three years, Gemma was the one to arrange for my birthday party and other events in the pack.
“Great! I will send the invitation cards to all the packs who can be our possible allies and also decide for the theme.” She gleamed with excitement.
“Send invitation to Yellow Mist Pack as well. I want Apha Axel to come here and see how his enemy is growing.” I told her and a frown itched on her face.
“You want to invite your biggest enemy in the celebration of our happiness, Adonis, why?” She asked me.
“I believe in keeping my enemies close to me than my friends.” I replied with a smirk.
“He will probably reject our invitation. Come on, our bloody history isn’t hidden from anyone. We have lost so much in that battle including your father. He will mock at us.” She said and every single part of it was true.
“I want him to see that we’re still thriving despite their wicked intentions to destroy us. It will be a slap on his face because he’s the bastard who is the reason of my father’s death. Gamma saved him and left my father to die in the hands of those killers.” I said with so much bitterness.
“I am sorry, I can feel your pain. Don’t worry, I will take care of everything.” She said softly and left.
Never for once I opened her gifts that she picked for me with so much efforts. They are still lying in a corner of my closet, wrapped and dusted. She used to pay attention on minor details and made sure that I’d not be displeased nor my guests.
I never appreciated Gemma for her efforts. She used to do everything with enthusiasm, ignored people mocking her and often taunting her for being a trophy mate whom I only needed out of obligation but she focused on my happiness. She used to take care of my every single need without complaining. I can’t find my pair of socks. She used to arrange everything for me.
I feel like I was totally depended on her and she never complained even when I used to taunt her for being clingy, annoying and a weak woman who needs a man by her side. In fact, she never needed me. She was a trained warrior, a perfect wife, a Luna trained in her duties.
My coldness drifted her apart and forced her to follow a different path. She decided to find love and comfort in another man’s arms.
Bitterness and jealousy filled me. She never for once accepted her sins or tried to beg for forgiveness. She remained quiet and accepted my judgement. She never for once looked at me during the trial. I wanted to deny everything but when her own mother confirmed her sins, it broke something within me.
Without realizing, I had found comfort in my loveless bond. Gemma had marked an invisible presence in my life. She used to be around me without giving me a chance to express my hatred for her. Every single day, she wished me 'good morning' and wished me 'good night' after after turn my back to her coldly.
A secret changed everything forever. I wish I could find her and ask her why she had done this.
A part of me knew that she was alive because my wolf is still anxious and I didn’t feel my mate bond dying or her mark disappearing.
Perhaps, she is still alive. All I need is to find her.
[ Sabrina ]The immeasurable pain coursing through my body and sweat damping my robe.I couldn’t stop the screams that rippled through me.“I…can’t…I..can’t do it.” I cried.“Luna, please push more. We can see the head.”The doctor asked me while the nurses grabbed my hands to stop me from struggling.“I can’t…please..call my..mate.” I breathed out,I could smell him. He was outside the ward but the doctor didn’t allow him to come inside.“Luna, the baby is coming out. Just push.’ The doctor said softly and I pushed again. The baby slipped out of me as the doctor quickly wrapped it in a towel.“Congratulations, Luna, it’s a girl.” She smiled at me.My eyes teared up when she placed the new born on my chest, my baby girl.In that moment, I forgot all the pain I had gone through for last five hours. I was holding the baby for whom I had waited for years. The moment was heavenly until I felt another contraction and I cried again.“Oh, no! there is another baby. The Luna is having twins.”
[ Sabrina ]Alpha Giovanni had arrived and his reaction to see his younger brother laying in pain was more heartbreaking.I had never seen him in a vulnerable condition before but when he knelt down and cried saying some incoherent words to his brother, it made me realize that their bond was unexplainable. Giovanni treated him more like his son.I gave them space because they were brothers.“Luna, I think we should waste more time here and take Alpha to our pack. He needs a good environment for him and we have found good healers for him.” Clayton said.I tilted my head to glance at him and nodded.“Arrange a helicopter because it’s risky to move him through a bumpy road and also prepare for the funeral of the driver. He lost his life in the service of his alpha.’ I said.I felt bad for the grieving family. He nodded and left me alone again. I was sitting on a tree trunk clutching my shawl close to my chest.I thought about my baby. I forgot about him when I tried to save Leo. I didn’t
[ Sabrina ]I didn’t leave Leo’s side even for a blink of second because I was afraid if I’d leave his sight, he’d disappear. I didn’t want anything to happen to him.My hands were never tired of stroking his head. His body temperature was slowly rising but he hadn’t woken up yet.“Luna, please, eat something. You haven’t slept since last night and your body needs rest. I will be with the alpha till then.” Clayton, who walked into the tent with a food bag, requested me.But I shook my head.“No, I am fine. Leonardo needs me more and I won’t die if I don’t eat or sleep for a day.” I refused to leave my mate.“I know, you are an alpha blood but your unborn child needs it, Luna. Please, don’t be harsh on your child.” He said through mind link and I stopped stroking Leo’s head and my eyes met with Clayton. How did he know?“Please, Luna. Don’t be harsh on yourself. This food I brought with us so you can eat it.” He said placing the bag on the table. My eyes again found the sight of Leo. I
[ Sabrina ]“Calm down, Sabrina. He must be in his way. Did you hear Beta Clayton? Leo has left the Blackville Pack before sunset means he’d be back any time. There are news of landslides after the heavy rain. They might have taken the long route.” Carlotta tried to calm me down. But I and my wolf weren’t at peace. I knew something terrible has happened because the driver and Leo’s phones were unreachable. Clayton and others were trying to locate their car but there was no sign which was increasing my fear with passing minutes. The creases on Clayton’s face were the evidence that something had happened. I only prayed for my mate’s safety.“Luna, you need to come with me. Please, change your clothes.” Clayton waltzed into the living room of the packhouse. His face was morphed with panic.“Clayton, what happened? Where are you taking me and where is Leo?” I asked. My heart was beating very fast. I wasn’t waiting for a bad news.“Don’t waste time, Luna. We need to hurry up.” He said.He
[ Leonardo ]“Alpha, we respect you and our alliance because we have infused our trust in you but what you are asking from us, it’s impossible. You are practically asking us to let Felix have his back to our pack and destroy us. He tried to kill us if you remember.” Felix’s father said.I proposed my plan as I had decided earlier but it wasn’t easy at all.“I understand, Alpha but if we don’t stop Felix, he’ll eventually come for you and then I might not be able to help you because my pack’s safety comes first before anything.” I said.“Felix will die if he ever dares to step his foot here.” His brother, the current Alpha said with dark eyes and I understood in the moment that it was useless to talk to them.I hated to admit it but Felix could be better choice than the short-tempered alpha who was a coward. I could see fear behind his tough mask and I also knew that he’d not stand a chance against Felix.“I feel pity for you, Alpha because you and Felix, both lacks the quality your fa
[ Sabrina ]“Alpha, don’t you think we should tell the pack about their future alpha now. It’s more than a month and I have started showing. I can’t hide my belly anymore, it’s difficult and it becomes more challenging when someone offers me something to eat or drink.”Sabrina, who was stroking my hairs as I laid my head on her lap. I could listen to the heartbeats of my baby. It was growing inside her day by day.“I am waiting for the full moon night, a night for prayer and celebration for us. We’ll receive the blessings of the Moon Goddess and no one will dare to harm our unborn pup.” He replied.“There is another week for the full moon. I hope till then I will manage to hide it. I still can’t believe that soon we’ll have our own pup, our baby who will call us Mama and Papa. I will name him Leander.” I expressed my wish to name our son after him.“You have thought a name for our baby? It’s beautiful, it was my father’s middle name as well.” He said with a smile and I could tell that
