I frowned when I woke up to find that Scarlett was nowhere to be seen. Her side of the bed was cold meaning that she has been awake for a while now, and rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I sighed when I checked my phone to find that it was a while past noon.

I got up from bed and walked to the bathroom to freshen up, catching Scarlett’s scent in the house, knowing that she was safe somewhere downstairs with the other family members. Maddie would most likely be with her, and if not Maddie, it would be Lena, Ivan, or even Artur. If anyone in the house knew what it was like to go from ‘stranger’ to family in this house, it was Artur.

The fact that I knew that she shouldn’t have been out of bed with me asleep was something, but judging by the fact that I also knew that there was no way for me to keep her in bed all day while she let me sleep, she had to move for her wolf’s sake; I knew that I was forced to submit, leaving her to do what she saw as right.
