I stared at Elena for a few seconds, watching as she walked toward the front door, avoiding looking at anyone as she wrapped her arms around herself.

The woman’s heart raced, and it seemed like she was in more pain than she let out. However, she didn’t bother speaking or voicing out whatever she was feeling, and I knew that it was because of what Diana told her. The woman may have been quiet, but that didn’t mean that I was blind, and for that, I knew that I needed to investigate who she was, what she was, and where she came from.

The one thing that I truly knew about her, and it was because Joseph told me about it, was her name’s Elena Valdez. But there was nothing about her that actually told me who the person was. She was far too secretive about who she was, and she couldn’t be blamed. The woman was a cop in a dirty world who wouldn’t hesitate to destroy her if they got a chance.
