Death Wish?

Arthur's POV

“I’ve missed you so much, Arthur.” Tori hugs me so tight. I do miss her, but not suffocating hugs.

I turn to Adrian who is standing behind Tori.

“Adrian,” I boldly called him.

“Arthur, It’s good to see you after a long time.” Adrian tells me.

“I would say the same but I can’t place exactly why you’re here.” I was trying to get them to speak up already, why they are in my territory?

Tori senses that, but she always has her way around me.

“Don’t be rude, Arthur. Have you been eaten properly? Have you been having enough sleep? You seem kind of stressed.”

I roll my eyes and snatch my head back when Tori pull at my cheek, trying to examine every nook and cranny of me.

"Scars?!" She gasps. "My baby boy, what have you been doing to yourself?!"

I push her hands off me, but gently. I don’t want to see her teary eyes.

“I’m fine, mum, you don’t have to worry so much. I’m not a child anymore."

She smiles brightly, and I know it's because I just called her mum. I don't do that all the time.

“ Well, you are my child, and yes, I have to be worried about you. No where of safe.”

She kegs out a heave as she looks at Adrian. I know exactly what she is talking about.

"Please, come in. I know you both are exhausted from the long drive."

I open the door, and wait for nothing of them to get in. Like a good host.

After a few minutes of sitting down, tea is served by one of of the girls.

I just stir my cup, waiting for the servants to leave so that we can jump into business.

"I know why both of you are here." I look at them.

"Really?" Adrian says.

"Yes. You are here to ask if I have become victims of the recent attacks." I look from one parent to the other. "And the answer is yes,"

"Oh my God," Tori drops her tea cup on the table.

"Vampires have tried to attack a few times, but I've been able to repel them."

Tori is already tapping her foot against the wood floor, and her hand is over her forehead.

"We are right to have come, Adrian, I knew he would be targeted by those bastards! They have no shame to even attack a teenager!"

"A teenager?!" I scoff. "Mum, I'm the strongest alpha in this land. I can take them all down all by myself."

“Don’t be full of yourself boy, your mother is just be concerned.” Adrian growls at me knowing that I’ll never accept that I need help.

“Why don’t you guys go help Kylian? Hmmm? Sounds like he needs your help more than i do.” I talk back at Adrian in distasteful tone.

I hate it when he calls me 'boy'. I’m not a child. I’m an adult. An alpha, I don’t need anyone’s help to protect my pack.

“When my pack hear or sees you here to offer me help that I don't need, what do you think they will say about their alpha? That I’m too weak to keep them safe, is that what you want?”

My raging eyes is on Adrian. I know he’s the one who encouraged Tori to come here, he doesn’t trust me to lead the pack.

Adrian is boiling inside. He doesn’t want to say anything that will push Tori to tears. She’s that soft. Too soft when it comes to me.

“Arthur, we trust you to do the right thing and we will leave you to make your decision.”

Tori tells me with her trembling voice. Sounds like she’s done trying to convince me to help.

“Thank you, Tori. Whenever I need your help, you will be the first to know.” I tell her with my hand on her shoulder to drop her level of concern.

I say nothing to Adrian. He shouldn’t expect me to. He’s been the one that never let me do whatever I want. Always poking his nose in my business.

I got really angry and almost let out a growl I have been suppressing.

Adrian thinks I'm still a little baby that needs condescending protection, but I'll show you how grown I am.

“Why are they attacking now? After all these years of wiping them out, where did they come from again?” Tori asks curiously.

“It’s obvious that they want revenge. I would have done worst if my pack were killed brutally.” I fire back to Tori’s silly question.

As usual, Adrian always oppose my words.

“You don’t just conclude. You can’t be a leader if you don’t seek for the truth about things like this.”

“Then why are they back?” I furiously lashed out.

“Well, you can ask them the next time you kill them.”

Adrian growling low and stares at me intensively. He must have heard it from one of his spies.

I hate it when he hides spies in my pack that tell him all my moves. The last one I caught is still in the dungeon.

“I have warned you several times about spying on me. I will send you their heads next time I see one of your spies.” I threatened Adrian.

Adrian and I aggressively throw back our seats to the floor, slamming our hands on the table, baring teeth loudly at each other.

Tori yells at both of us in a loud voice, and that's enough to bring us back to our senses.

“I don’t need this. I came here to see what’s going on with you, Arthur, not to start a battle between you two. We leave tomorrow. Good night.”

Tori holds my shirt and draws me to her height level to kiss me on the cheek, storms out of the living room, to the guest room.

Leaving I and Adrian in the room, the air thickens with tension and rage.

“I’m only trying to help, ” He confesses with a sigh, but I know that's just his pride speaking.

“It’s a good thing that I’m doing very well on my own.” I huff at him for thinking so less of me.

Adrian leaves the kitchen and I’m left alone. My thoughts goes back to when I killed some vampires who were trying to invade my territory.

Tori questions comes back to me. What do they want? Why are they attacking and why now?

Just then, my door opens and Oliver walks in. He’s face twisted in scarl as he tells me.

“We found three vampires again. They crossed our borders, and we immediately took them in.”

They must have a death wish for thinking they can come into my territory and shed blood.
