LOGINChapter 5
Arthur’s POV Grabbing my car key and jacket to head out and take care of the vampires, I find Tori standing at the door, her hands folds under her chest like she’s ready to go with me. How did she even know I was going out? And how fast did she get here? “Tori, I don’t need babysitting. I can take care of this. Just go back to bed and rest, do anything other than follow me.” I tell Tori, trying to convince her not to follow me. I’m an independent alpha for fuck sake, not a mummy’s boy. “I’m going with you and that’s it, end of discussion.” She says back to me. I turn to Adrian, he adjusts the collar of his jacket, meaning he’s with her. This is absurd. “Fuck it.” I grumble, walk out of the house without waiting for anyone. We get to the scene to see my pack hunters have tied up the vampires. Their fangs and claws are out, in case the vampires want to try anything stupid. I disgustingly spit on the floor, right infront of one of the vampires. He grouch at me and a hunter slash the vampire’s face with his claws. I chuckle, knowing that will really painful. “You have some nerve to try and escape after what I did to your brothers.” They don’t say anything back at me, but they are boiling with anger, their faces purple with rage. “Should they be taken to the barn or to the dungeon?” Oliver ask me, as I’m still looking around to see if there’s anything else that is suspicious. “Nonsense. They are not worthy for the barn. Pathetic creatures. Take them to the dungeon.” They are taken straight to the dungeon, and we are right behind them. Tori is still with me, following me about like I’m going to make a mistake. I won’t hold back because of her presence. She asked to be here. I will also prove my point to her and Adrian, who seems not understand that I don’t need him here. Oliver had the vampires tied up, leaving them hanging with their hands. “Who sent you?” I throw the question that the one who seems to be their leader. He spits back on my foot. “Go fuck yourself.” Ohh, he shouldn’t have done that. “Oliver, tell this blood lusting bastard, I don’t enjoy repeating myself twice.” Oliver approach him with a tight, hard punch on his face. Good. “Now, who the fuck sent you to invade my territory?” I bend down to look him straight into his eyes, radiating hostility from my body. “I’m not scared of you dogs, go ahead and do what you were made to do.” He insultingly talks back. Without hesitating I slice his head off his neck. Blood pumping out of his neck like it’s raining blood. I love the sight of it. I take a handkerchief from Oliver to clean the vampire’s disgusting blood off my hand and face. I stare at the alive ones who seem to be frightened, but not moved. “My wolf is very eager for me to let him out. But for the sake of mercy, I wouldn’t.” One of the vampire burst into laughter and my wolf becomes icily angry. “Cut off his head, hang it for everyone of his bastard kind to see it as a warning.” My wolf anxiously says but I push him back. It won’t be good if I let him out. The vampire comes down from his drunken laughter. “You actually think we are scared of you or death. We are not. You better just kill us now. If I get out of these chains, your head will be in my hands staring at your body.” The vampire growls, he threatens me. Big mistake. “Is that a threat?” I ask him with a wicked smile on my face. “It’s more than a threat. We have been silent for far too long. The more you kill us, the more we come to kill your kind. You don’t deserve the mercy of breathing.” The vampire threatens again. Gritting my teeth together, I try to stay as calm as possible. They really have the boldness and courage to not be scared of dying. What is really going on? Why are they willing to sacrifice themselves to see us, werewolves, all dead? In the first war that vampires were almost extinct, they started the war and we couldn’t stand down, we had to fight back. “Arthur, use your alpha siren and get the answer out of them.” Tori suggests. I huff. Once again, she’s questioning my actions and authority. I don’t need to use my alpha siren on them. “My alpha siren is too useful to be used on these forbidden creatures. I have better use for it.” I turn to Oliver, he’s always ready to take my command and act. “What are you waiting for? Make their wish come true.” Oliver takes out his dagger and slice both vampires on their arms. They both look surprise at the little cut and laugh at it. “A minor cut won’t get us to talk.” They say in derision. “I’m done hearing your displeasing voices. And that’s to kill you, but very slow and painfully. It’s a poisonous dagger, you wouldn’t even heal. You will feel nothing but death running inside your veins.” Their eyes open widely, carving out fear on their faces. I have been craving for that look on their ugly faces. They know they are in for it. “Kill us already.” One shouts at me, I smirk at him, enjoying his display of useless courage. “Killing you is mercy. Your kind don’t deserve mercy. The slowest, most dreadful pain, that would drive you to death in slow pace, is what you deserve.” I turn my back on them and walk out of the dungeon. Hearing their ear piercing screams of pain makes my heart beam with joy. Yet again, Tori’s question comes to my head. What is their reason for attacking werewolves and why now?Chapter 97 Arthur’s POVI should have known that if anyone would spread the news about my father, it wouldn’t be the patrol team. It would have to be Mrs Mateo. Because when it comes to her hearing and talking about what doesn't concern her, she’s number one in that. She walks up to us, where we are standing. “There you are,” she says. “Not now.” Ainsley tries to push her away from us, but I hold her arm to stop her. “What do you want? Mrs Mateo.” I ask her. She coughs, clearing her throat. “I think the pack deserves better than secrets.”I put my hands in my pockets and looked at her properly. “You had no right.”Mrs. Mateo lifts her chin. “I had every right. My daughter has been living among you people. If there is a stranger with unknown ties walking these grounds, the rest of us should not be left blind.”Ainsley steps forward. “Mother, stop.”“No, I won’t stop. First the violence, then the funerals, then this? A man appears, disappears, and the Alpha’s son expects silence?
Chapter 96Arthur’s POV I made the decision before dawn.I can’t even sleep, I just stood at the window of the upper corridor for hours, replaying every ordinary expression on my father’s face. Every human gesture, every moment that proves how completely the man has been cut away from what he was meant to be. By the time the sky begins to pale, I have already chosen to send him back, away from my pack and everyone I love. Kylian and Oliver were waiting in the war room when I entered. “You’ve decided something,” Kylian says.I rolled my eyes at him and closed the door behind me. “He’s leaving.”“I knew it.” Kylian snaps at me, then looks out the window. Oliver’s eyes narrowed. “Your father?”“Yes. He’s leaving the pack today. To the life he remembers. The human one.”Kylian furrows his brow at me. “No.”I snap my head at Kylian, piercing him with my furious gaze without flinching. “This is not a discussion.”“Like hell it isn’t,” Kylian says, stepping away from the window. “You
Chapter 95 Arthur’s POVI know I erased his memory, all of it. But why is he so…“This is creepy, man,” Oliver says. “Tell me something I don’t know,” I answered, sarcastically. I don’t see him as my father or someone I’ve known before, he’s a stranger to me now. “You must be the one in charge, right?” He points at me, asking me. “I’ve done nothing wrong, I was just hiking. I was just passing by when your people, I suppose, lunged at me and accused me of intruding.”This is disturbing. First, he’s behaving so innocently and weirdly. Secondly, he’s hiking? Really. “He’s just putting on an act,” Oliver says through the mindlink. “Are you saying I didn’t erase all of his memories?” I ask him. “Don’t put words in my mouth, Arthur. You are as shocked as I am. Don’t you think maybe you might have left a tiny bit of his memory?” I growl at Oliver. This isn’t the time to make jokes. What am I supposed to do with him? Like this? “Is something wrong? Might I have done something wron
Chapter 94 Arthur’s POV“Don’t let him out of your sight.” I groan, commanding Oliver. “Yes, Alpha.” He answered me. Why does it have to be like this? I had just made peace with my loss and grief. Can’t I be merry for peace of mind for more than a second? For fuck sake. I look at Justin’s grave one last time before turning my heels and head back to the pack. That man, that monster isn't supposed to be in my territory. How does he even remember the way back? I remembered very well that I took away his werewolf and alpha powers, made him forget that he was ever a werewolf and an alpha, and sent him away. “What brings him home now?” I ask myself, without getting an answer. My thoughts go back to when I defeated my father. “You fucking fool.” He shouts as he’s on his knees, shamelessly. “I’ve waited for this day for a long time.” “You must be stupid and out of your mind to think that I’ll let you take what I’ve worked so hard for.” I let my hand land very hard in his face, t
Chapter 93 Arthur’s POVI didn’t know how hard it is to be a leader, till I woke up this morning feeling the emptiness of Tori. It’s been over two months now and the pack is beginning to settle into its uneasy version of peace. I find myself sitting in the pack’s hall, with two patrol warriors waiting for me to decide on their dispute. “I did nothing but my own part of the patrol.” “You were intruding into my space.” They exchange words with each other and I just look at them. This is no longer a wartime matter, where orders can be sharp and final. This is the quieter work of holding people together when there is no common enemy left to unite them. They keep throwing insults and arguing between themselves. “Enough,” I say in a calm yet commanding voice. This dispute isn't serious at all, but the tension in the room makes it feel larger than it is. “You both overstepped,” I say to them, sounding even. “You will run the next three north rotations together. If I hear of anothe
Chapter 92Arthur’s POVEverything feels so different and confusing. Tori’s absence is having a heavy negative impact on everyone, even the pack. I find myself getting lost in my thoughts every two seconds. For months now, my sleep has been interrupted by urgent reports, patrols to assign, and other issues here and there. Of course, there’s Oliver to have things put in place, I still have to be there to ensure that everything is going very well. Everything in the pack is moving slower than usual. The corridors no longer carry the same sharp tension as before, the training grounds sound different without the edge of preparation in every drill. It should be a relief, but it gives me a restless and uncomfortable sensation. Sitting at the head of the long table, alone in the war room, with a cup of full coffee sitting in my hands, doesn’t seem to help ease my racing heart. “You’re up early,” Kylian says, as he enters the war room without knocking. “Didn’t sleep much.” I glance a
