Baylor POVAs soon as we arrived back at the packhouse grounds, I shifted and pulled on my shorts. Shammus and I are both eager to find the source of that scent. I can’t focus on anything but finding her and making her mine. I am trying hard not to act like some sort of deranged perv as I sniff the air searching the crowd. I have to find her.“Wait! Alpha help! The guard is awake!” I heard and I spun around to see a man I recognized as Machieste leaping off of the porch as a growl rips through his chest and he utters one word, “Mate!” I watched in what seemed like slow motion as he tears through the crowd sniffing and once I see where he is heading, I take off running. ‘Dane, Rosemarie, with me now!’ I mind-link. ‘At your back Alpha’ they reply in unison. ‘Be ready to take him down, I won’t let her be hurt!’ I shout through the link.It feels like it takes forever to get through the crowd as I make my way to intercept Machieste. Just as I am ready to tackle him, he skids to a halt an
Baylor POV “Baylor, if I might have a word with you, before you rejoin the festivities,” Alpha Colin said. I looked at Delania and an understanding passed between us as she nodded her head and went to go outside with the rest. “Actually your mate or should I say your Luna should stay too since it involves the two of you,” Alpha Colin amended. I was a little surprised and wary of what that could mean. “Have the two of you accepted the bond yet?” Alpha Colin asked. “Yes,” I said enthusiastically. “Um, actually no we haven’t,” Delania said and I looked at her in confusion. “I don’t understand. I accepted you the moment I knew it was you,” I replied. “Baylor, there is a formal acceptance of the bond and though you accept Delania with all your heart, you still need to do the formal acceptance and I was thinking that it would be a great thing to share with your pack,” Alpha Colin informed. “Oh, I guess that is just another thing I didn’t know. I’m sorry,” I replied. Delania placed a soft
Siobhan POV Tonight was so much more than I ever expected. I was just so excited that I was going to get to let Naofa run. I don’t get to let her run often, being an Omega, she isn’t the strongest of wolves. I have rarely been invited to run with others and it isn’t safe to go alone. I never suspected that when the run ended that I would find my mate. I honestly didn’t believe I would have one and I was ok with that. The goddess has blessed me so much already with Connie and then Marlon too. Life before Alpha Baylor was found had been cruel, so to be needed and treated with kindness had been a blessing. So that the goddess would choose to bless me again was more than I had hoped for. I can’t help but stare at Machieste, he is so handsome and muscular. “I would like to talk a little later if you don’t mind, there are probably things we should both know,” he said, turning to face me. “S-s-sure n-n-no secrets except the i-i-important ones,” I replied. Dammit, I have to relax! I haven’
Unknown POV Well isn’t this a delightful little development? Looks like father like son is truer than we ever suspected. The little bastard just banished a little she-wolf. Oh and she thoroughly hates him too, hoping that the Rogue King kills him. I could certainly oblige her and let her watch while I do it. This game just became more interesting, I have never had a female join my ranks. What is that saying about a woman scorned? She will have inside intel of what is going on inside of the pack. I eliminated one of my enemies in Alpha Stephan, already along with his heir. Now to eliminate the little bastard before he mates and creates an heir. Alpha Colin may prove the most difficult to eliminate as I will have to eliminate two possibly three generations, I will have to check in with my spies to see if Colin’s heir has created an heir of his own. Uh-oh bad form little bastard, you not only banished a she-wolf but you let your guards ruff her up first. That makes her prey. Oh now the
Baylor POV “Good morning beautiful,” I whispered as I felt Delania start to stir with her head resting on my chest. “Baylor, we’ve only slept a few hours,” she murmured groggily with her eyes still closed. “I know baby, but we have a pack who is depending on us, so we have to get up and get moving,” I replied gently, squeezing her shoulder where my hand was laying. “Can’t we sleep just a little longer?” she questioned sullenly. “Not today Luna, but we’ll get things in order and in the future you can sleep later,” I said, tracing my fingers against her soft skin. I got up and found a clean pair of shorts to slip on and the sneakers that I have been using for training. “I would like for you and Siobhan to look for two more packhouse attendants to hire. She has her hands full managing the packhouse already and with the twins and losing her assistant, she’ll need the help,” I stated when Delania sat up looking sexily mussed. “I don’t understand what you mean Baylor, where am I going?”
Baylor POV After breakfast I decided that it was long past time to sit down with Alpha Colin and find out the truth about the pack finances. It seemed to me that even though there had been a trust put in place all those years ago there had to be a bottom to the well. Eventually there wouldn’t be a place to get the cash that we needed to take care of the pack. “Colin, I think it is about time that I asked you for more information about my background. Since there seems to be many needs that the pack has, can we start with finances? I need some sort of idea as to what my limitations are in trying to meet those needs,” I said, when we sat down at a table in the dining room. “Baylor, I am not sure you want those things discussed out in the open. Some of what I need to share with you is of a sensitive nature, but I am glad you have finally asked,” he replied. “Okay then, this sounds pretty serious then. We can use the medical room since it is currently not being used. Are there any other
First I would like to say thank you to all of my readers. I trully do appreciate each of you. Second I would like to apologize there is no chapter at this time. There was a death in my family and much as I have tried to edit and give you a chapter I truly can't even make my brain comprehend what I have written to evaluate it to present to you. Please be patient with me as I may not return tonight either. I will not give you garbage or substandard content just to put something on the page. You deserve better than that and frankly so do the characters. I will bring Baylor and all of his cheeky friends back to you by the end of the weekend, I promise. Thank you for your patience and undeerstanding during this difficult time. Much love, Artemas J R Broyles :)
Baylor POV When we came out of the office Machieste was pacing the floor with a fussy Connie. “There’s an angel. It’s okay my little love, does your tummy hurt?” he murmured, patting and rubbing her back. “You want me to take her for a few minutes?” I asked as I watched him continue to pace the floor. “She’ll be alright, she ate a little more from the bottle than her mum this morning so she’s just a little fussy,” he replied. “Since we’re here, why don’t we sit down and talk for a few minutes,” I encouraged. “Is there something wrong, Alpha?” Machieste asked with his brows knitted in concern. “I wouldn’t say wrong, so much as off kilter,” I told him as I tired to think of what I wanted to say. “While you’re here Alpha, I was wondering if we could possibly come up with what my duties can be. I know watching the pups is helpful to Siobhan, but I want something to do,” he inserted while I was still fumbling for words, I couldn’t help but laugh as he beat me to the punch. “That’s actual
