BLADE'S POV
The bus drove past the welcome signboard into Haven, a small town filled with low-income workers and happy farmers, with only a few businesses running and two commercial banks.
Haven was indeed the perfect town for a pack to operate, with little or no suspicion from the locals and a whole lot of space in the virgin woods to hide and do whatsoever you want. Dexter was indeed one lucky alpha to own Haven.
The bus stopped and everyone alighted. I got into a cab which took me straight home.
Home was a huge castle-like building at the very end of the town, with trees surrounding it and the woods at its back.
A normal person walking by would definitely be terrified by the building as it had frightening sculptures and statues everywhere but me, having grown up here, i found it rather appealing to see.
I came out of the cab, after paying the driver and bading him goodbye. The cab driver who was obviously terrified by the building didn't waste time before speeding off.
I got to the brick gates and in the mouth of one of the huge dragon statues, I dropped a coin and immediately, the brick gave way for me to pass.
As I walked through the pathway, I thought about how I had left this place, six years ago. Dexter had indeed done the place some good as I could remember setting the house on fire, and strolling outside with my Luna, Brianne by my side.
Now, I imagined how Dexter would welcome me. I definitely wasn't expecting a hug or an 'I miss you' from him but i only wished he could attempt to be reasonable for the first time and help a brother in need.
As I walked in through the bright red entrance door, the first person I saw was the ever-friendly Mrs Humphrey, tending to the flowers in the vases.
She turned around and stared at me with shock written all over her. Then her eyes glittered in delight and happiness as she ran to me and embraced me. "Oh, you're back." She said, breaking into tears. "You're finally back."
I withdrew from her embrace and smiled at her. "It's been a while, Susan."
"I've missed you a lot." She said wiping away her tears.
"I'm so sorry for leaving and never sending any mails." I apologized.
"It's alright." She said smiling. "What matters now is that you're back"
I looked around and noticed that the house was empty. "Where's Dexter and where are the younger house-helps?"
A sad look crossed her face but faded quickly. "Dexter is in a meeting with his pack…" She cleared her throat. "And as for the others, well after you left, Dexter sent them all away, claiming that he needed people he could trust around him."
"So you do all the work alone?" I asked, baffled by Dexter's inconsiderate action.
"Yeah, but it's okay." She said with a bright smile on her face. "How about you go in and freshen up a bit, from the heaviness of your eyes, you must have had a long journey."
I followed Susan to my room, which was sparkling clean with a very welcoming scent everywhere. "Goddamnit, you've really been working, Susie."
She smiled. "You wouldn't say that if you've seen the garage."
We both laughed shortly. "Thank you." I said planting a kiss to her cheek. "You mean the world to me."
"Your charms wouldn't make me bring food for you, so don't even bother." She said, as she walked away.
I stared around and finally collapsed on the king-sized bed, heaving a sigh of relief.
I remembered the last time I had laid on that same bed, I had been with Brianne and it had been a very busy night.
Brianne was indeed the craziest girl I had been with. She was beautiful, tall, tough, hot and very submissive.
She loved me and I knew it so damn well. I wouldn't say that I had taken advantage of her love neither would I say that I didn't love her.
I cared for her but as for loving her, I wasn't sure. I wasn't sure about loving anyone, most especially myself.
Just as I shut my eyes to sleep, I heard the sound of a car drive in. It was definitely Dexter.
I got his scent immediately he came out of the car. I didn't bother coming out to meet Dexter as I knew that he would be up my nose in a minute.
And I was right. I heard a loud bang on my door within a minute.
"The door is open." I said in irritation.
The door swung open and Dexter's fuming figure appeared. "What the hell are you doing here?" He asked in annoyance.
I rose up from the bed and sat up to face Dexter, who looked really good and more muscular than he had been before. "You're not looking bad." I commented.
The furious expression he had on his face didn't get off.
I sighed. "So, I don't get an embrace from the only family I have left."
"Don't even go there." He said. "What do you want? Why are you here?"
I hesitated for a while as my ego killed me. "I need your help."
I could see the shock in his face which soon turned to a smile. "You need my help? So, the ever knowing alpha needs my help."
"C'mon don't drag on this." I said.
"What do you need?" He asked.
I took off my shirt, exposing the scary swollen veins. And then I removed the eye contact lens I had put to conceal the redness of my eyes.
Dexter gasped in fear. "What the hell is this?"
"It's Jordan." I replied. "He wants freedom."
"Oh my!" He said, staring at me with fake sympathy, which almost made me puke on his face.
I could tell for a fact, that he was loving every bit of this. He always loved seeing me weak and vulnerable, that's why he hated me because I never displayed weakness before.
"So, how can I help?" He asked.
"I need one of dad's elixirs." I said.
He frowned. "Never. You're never getting close to any of dad's belongings."
"Says who?"
"Says me, okay? After what you did, you should be grateful I even let you into this house."
I was quiet for a while. "I didn't come here to argue nor fight, I came here for your help."
"I heard you the first time but I'm sorry I can't help you." He said, looking away from me.
I rose up from the bed and grabbed him by the shoulder. "I really like what you've done here, how you've kept the whole place intact, it must have required a lot of work from you."
His eyes cornered as he stared at me cautiously.
"Not only have you kept this place beautiful, you've also kept father's pack in order. And Haven seems like the best and easiest place for an alpha to rule." I continued.
"What are you getting at?" He snapped at me.
"What I'm saying brother is that this place suits you, and I'm sure you don't want me ruining it all for you."
His countenance changed and his face became pale. "You can't do anything, you're not as strong as you think you are?"
"Do you want to place a bet on that, Dex?" I asked.
We both stared at each other for a while, then he looked away. "Fine. But you're not going into Dad's safe by yourself, I can't allow you meddle with the last belongings of father."
"Alright. Just get me the moonlight elixir and I'd be on my way. You would never have to see me again." I said.
"Swear!" He said. "Swear that you'd never step foot here after you get what you want!"
I smiled. "I can't."
"Why?" He asked.
"Because I'm christian now."
He laughed. "Yeah, so you believe in Jesus now?" He asked, mockingly.
"Yeah." I said.
He laughed. "I actually believe you. By the way, you've always had a f*cked up mind since you were a kid."
I laughed at his joke when in my heart, I felt like punching out every single tooth in his mouth.
"Believe it or not, I've missed you." He said as he began walking out.
I didn't say anything because I sucked at revealing my feelings, maybe because I had none.
He stopped at the door and said. "I'm having guests over today."
"Your pack?" I asked.
"Yeah." He replied. "They would be shocked to see you."
"More like terrified." I corrected him.
He chuckled. "Yeah."
"Would you like me to keep out of sight." I asked, already knowing why he was telling me about this.
"Yeah." He replied. "For just tonight. I don't…"
"…want me ruining your party." I smiled. "I get it."
He gave me one last look before walking out and shutting my door.
"F*ck you Dexter." I said as I fell back on the bed.
Emily's POVI was staring at the blank ceiling above me, with my hands wrapped around myself. The setting sun was amazing and normally I'd have been by the balcony staring at the twilight in admiration as I was really into nature. But today I didn't feel quite like myself. Was it because the reality of being with Dexter forever was dawning at me? Or was it because I just wasn't ready? The door to my room opened slightly and Janet's huge eyeballs peered at me. "Can I come in?" She asked, jokingly.I chuckled. "What if I say no?"She opened the door properly, walked in and shut it back. "How are you?" She asked."I'm great." I replied putting on a smile to conceal my anxiety. She sat beside me and held my hand. "Even your cute smile can't deceive me. I know when you're fine and when you're not. So, what's it?"I sighed. "It's Dexter."A huge smile appeared on Janet's face. "Somehow I knew it was going to be about him."I smiled. Janet had always shipped Dexter and I together even when I
BLADE'S POV I had been at the balcony staring at the beautiful constellations when she had walked towards the horsemen fountain which was one of my favorite artwork in the house and was also Dexter's most hated artwork. The cool breeze had swept her golden blonde hair across her face making her more enticing to my wolf. "Just stop it!" I snapped at Jordan. The fact that she wasn't terrified by the scary ten foot tall horsemen statues by the fountain made me develop an instant liking towards her. She reminded me of my Brianne, who had also been fascinated by the horsemen fountain. Brianne had loved it so much that she had spent most of her evenings watching the water fall righteously from the mouth of the horsemen down to it's basin. Funny enough, the first time I had kissed Brianne was by the same fountain. It had been snowing that night, and i could still remember me taking off the snowflakes that had fallen on her wild red hair which were lon
Emily's POVI grumbled as we waited patiently sitting on one of the chairs in the living room."Just hold on!" My mom scolded me. "He said he has something to show the pack. Be patient!""Great." I muttered. "Just when I thought this hell of a party was over."My dad gave me a warning look and returned his gaze to the Alpha who waited patiently for something… unknown to everyone."Oh, it's here!" Dexter said aloud as we heard the door leading to the other sections of the mansion open. Everyone's gaze was fixed on the passageway leading to the stairs, waiting in excitement to see what our Alpha had to present. And when I was beginning to think that our Alpha's surprise was a flop, I saw the hugest scare of my life. The whole hall fell into chaos as most people screamed and yelled in fear while others like myself stood speechless and motionless. It was a man. A man whose reputation spoke for itself. It was the legendary Alpha Blade, known in Haven as The Ripper."Hello." He said
Dexter paced the wide hall, fuming in anger and occasionally throwing things around him away. His hands trembled with fury consuming him as he muttered curse words under his breath.Harrison Bugle, Dexter's beta and childhood best friend sat on a couch, whistling to the sound of his favorite country music, not bothered by his friend's troubled state.Dexter turned around to face Harrison. "Would you please stop that! It's both disturbing and annoying."Harrison stopped for a while then resumed. In annoyance, Dexter threw a pillow at him. "Just shut the hell up!""I would stop when you also stop pacing the hall, okay?" Harrison said, throwing the pillow back to Dexter. "Anyway, I don't even get why you're troubling yourself."Dexter's eyebrows raised as he stared at Harrison in surprise. "How can you say that? How can you say such when we are on the verge of losing everything we've worked for so many years?""How so?" Harrison asked casually."Oh my god!" Dexter said slamming his palm
Emily's POV I was reading 'Falling In Love With The Bad guy" when I heard Dad's car honking outside. Finally, the two old disturbances were back. Despite the coldness of the night, I heard Sandra scampering down the stairs, hurrying to meet Dad and Mum. That was something I really didn't understand —Why did my sisters love my parents so much? Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, mainly because everyone is meant to love their parents and also because they weren't abusive and they provided every thing I needed. I think that's enough reason to love one's parents. I closed the novel I was reading and quickly covered myself with my bedspread as I heard my mom's voice calling me from the stairs. "Emily!!!" She called out as she reached my door. As I had been expecting, she opened the door and waltzed in without even bothering to knock. "Emily?" I didn't respond. She sighed and then pulled the sheets above me. I yelped in shock. She frowned."
BLADE'S POV I've always loved the feeling of the warm morning sun on my skin. It always reminded me of the essence of life. All days but today, as the warm sun ignited my frail swollen skin, causing my skin to burn and sizzle under the mild sun. "You can't go out," protested Susan, who was pacing my room."You wouldn't make it through the gate." I took my reddened hands out of the sun and turned around to face the worried Susan. "I have to and you know it." I said, grabbing my biker's jacket from its hook and putting it on carefully on my swollen skin. "No, you don't. Dexter said he'll look for the moonlight elixir. Just be patient." "Patient?" I laughed. "You expect me to be patient in this condition? And you expect me to believe that f*cker?" "The one thing Dexter wants is for you to leave Haven and believe me, he knows the only way that's happening is if you get the elixir." I shook my head. "No! The one thing Dexter wants is to
EMILY POV I had to meet Mathilda. I really had to. Despite the freezing wind of the night, I was determined to see her. I managed to escape my house through the window of my room. Although, I had collapsed during my attempt to jump, attaining a some bruises on my elbow and ankle, I was still marching onwards to the south of town. After wandering the town for about an hour and half, I met Mathilda frolicking at a bar with men thrice her age. In spite of the wide grin on her face and the loudness of her ringing laughter, I could still sight the sadness engraved deeper in her hooded grey eyes. The moment her eyes caught mine, the forged happiness vanished and a grim expression surfaced. "Emily?" She said, walking away from her drunken acquaintances. "Hi!" I said, waving at her. She took me by the arm and led me out of the bar. When we were finally out and in the open, I decided to clear the air. "I just needed to see..." "What the hell are yo
BLADE She led me into the house which was considerably empty with little or no furniture and a two-seater couch in the large sitting room. "This place has changed." I said, shocked by the emptiness of the house. "Do you live here?" She didn't say a word but progressed further up the creaking stairs. "Why aren't you saying anything?" I asked, curiously as she led me into a dark room with red candles lit around. She shut the door and sat down on a mat. "Sit down." She said, pointing to a mat opposite her. Cautiously, I sat down with my eyes fixed on her the whole time. In between us was a bowl of water and a blunt knife wrapped in red clothing placed beside the bowl. "What is going on?" I asked as I hated being left in the dark most especially as my last time in the same house had been more than horrifying. "You want my help, don't you?" She asked causally. "Yes... but I don't see how any of this is going to help me." I said, a lit
