Emily's POV
I was staring at the blank ceiling above me, with my hands wrapped around myself.
The setting sun was amazing and normally I'd have been by the balcony staring at the twilight in admiration as I was really into nature.
But today I didn't feel quite like myself. Was it because the reality of being with Dexter forever was dawning at me? Or was it because I just wasn't ready?
The door to my room opened slightly and Janet's huge eyeballs peered at me. "Can I come in?" She asked, jokingly.
I chuckled. "What if I say no?"
She opened the door properly, walked in and shut it back. "How are you?" She asked.
"I'm great." I replied putting on a smile to conceal my anxiety.
She sat beside me and held my hand. "Even your cute smile can't deceive me. I know when you're fine and when you're not. So, what's it?"
I sighed. "It's Dexter."
A huge smile appeared on Janet's face. "Somehow I knew it was going to be about him."
I smiled. Janet had always shipped Dexter and I together even when I hadn't been fated to him. Now that i was, she was the happiest person in the pack.
"So what about Dexter is making you worry?" She asked, still smiling from ear to ear.
"Nothing much… it's just that I'm not sure if…" I halted as I didn't know how she'd take the next words I was about to say.
"Not sure if what?" She asked.
"Never mind." I said.
She rolled her eyes. "Spill it, girl. I'm your big sis, remember."
"Fine. The thing is I'm not sure if…if I love him." I revealed
"What!!" She said aloud. "No, no, don't confuse yourself. I understand that there's a lot of pressure on you right now but both you and I know that you're in love with Dexter. You've had feelings for him since you were eight."
I knew explaining what was going on inside me was going to be difficult and even impossible if I was talking to Janet as she believed that Dexter and I were a pair made in the heavens.
"You love him, there should be no doubt about that. You love him and you've always loved him." She said.
I nodded my head in agreement. By the way we were fated to each other.
"Now get dressed. You don't want to be late for the event." She said, pulling me out of bed. "And please wear the royal blue short gown. I heard Dexter loves the color." She said giggling.

I walked into the limousine and sat beside Janet and Sandra, my two darling sisters. Opposite me were my parents, dressed in champagne gold matching attire which made them look like Arabian merchants.
"Oh, Emily." My mother said, reaching out to my hand which I stretched forward to ease her the stress. "You look amazing."
"Just like her father." My dad said, trying to raise an argument with mom.
"Her father?" My mom turned to look at him. "She clearly has my eyes, my hair color, my jawline… She's just like a younger version of me, Paul." My mom said.
"Don't flatter yourself, I saw you when you were young, you weren't half as beautiful as my angel here." He said winking at me.
"Whatever, her beauty is sixty percent from me and forty percent from the gods of beauty." My mom conceded.
"Emily." My dad called out. "You've made me so proud. Finally my dream of one of my daughters becoming Luna has finally become a reality."
My mum jabbed my knees playfully with her pointy fingernails. "Soon you'll be dining in the Ferguson's mansion and eating from their golden plates."
I smiled widely to conceal my rising anxiety. I didn't know why I suddenly felt angry with my family or why I felt like I was being sold off.
The car finally halted and everyone alighted from the limousine.
There were a lot of cars parked outside and the brick gates of the Fergusons were wide open.
Although there were a lot of fancy lights placed everywhere, the house still looked frightening.
Sandra, my younger sister, clung to me tightly as we walked in. She was clearly terrified by the house.
As we walked, almost every eyes were on me and it sent chills to my heart.
They all stared at me with admiration and I understood perfectly– I was the lucky girl after all.
We walked into the house and I was completely stunned with the beauty of it. It was not just majestic but had a touch of magic to it.
There was jazz music playing in the background and everyone seemed really happy with the event.
I got stopped severally by different families, all of which congratulated me and reminded me of how fortunate I was to be fated to Dexter.
I took turns dancing with Janet, Sandra and my parents and just when I was beginning to have fun, I felt a pat on my shoulder and as I turned around to see who it was, I almost had a heart attack.
It was Dexter.
His handsomeness made me deaf and dumb for some seconds. He had a grey-colored suit on which looked perfect on him. His hair was styled in a way which suited his fine jawline and brought out his nice skin tone.
"Shall we?" He asked, stretching his hands forward.
I stood there motionless for a while until my mom walked behind me and whispered in my ear. "C'mon, don't stand here like a statue watching him. Dance, Emily. Dance! And make sure you don't trip nor step on his expensive shoes."
I grumbled at her last statement as I found it offensive— So, I had to be perfect for him to like me. That was so not cool.
As Dexter and I danced, I tried my best to avoid looking at him but I was still jittery as I could feel his eyes on me the whole time. Also, every other person stopped dancing and watched Dexter and I dance.
A round of applause followed after our dance and I was really happy that it was over as I had felt like I had been choking within the whole time.
I greeted everyone who came to meet me to congratulate me, and then I left the building as quickly as possible.
As I walked out, I wrapped my hands around myself as everywhere was cold. I walked some distance away from the house to get away from the music and chattering.
Despite the scary compound, I stood by a fountain which had statues of horsemen around it.
As I stared in amazement at the huge fountain, I suddenly felt an eerie feeling which made my hairs stand.
I looked around and then I saw the curtain of a room at the top floor of the mansion shut. And from the curtain, I could see the silhouette of a male figure.
In fright of what I saw, I took to my heels and headed back to the building.
As I returned to the ballroom, Janet noticed my change in countenance. "Are you alright?"
"Yes." I said nodding my head more times than necessary.
BLADE'S POV I had been at the balcony staring at the beautiful constellations when she had walked towards the horsemen fountain which was one of my favorite artwork in the house and was also Dexter's most hated artwork. The cool breeze had swept her golden blonde hair across her face making her more enticing to my wolf. "Just stop it!" I snapped at Jordan. The fact that she wasn't terrified by the scary ten foot tall horsemen statues by the fountain made me develop an instant liking towards her. She reminded me of my Brianne, who had also been fascinated by the horsemen fountain. Brianne had loved it so much that she had spent most of her evenings watching the water fall righteously from the mouth of the horsemen down to it's basin. Funny enough, the first time I had kissed Brianne was by the same fountain. It had been snowing that night, and i could still remember me taking off the snowflakes that had fallen on her wild red hair which were lon
Emily's POVI grumbled as we waited patiently sitting on one of the chairs in the living room."Just hold on!" My mom scolded me. "He said he has something to show the pack. Be patient!""Great." I muttered. "Just when I thought this hell of a party was over."My dad gave me a warning look and returned his gaze to the Alpha who waited patiently for something… unknown to everyone."Oh, it's here!" Dexter said aloud as we heard the door leading to the other sections of the mansion open. Everyone's gaze was fixed on the passageway leading to the stairs, waiting in excitement to see what our Alpha had to present. And when I was beginning to think that our Alpha's surprise was a flop, I saw the hugest scare of my life. The whole hall fell into chaos as most people screamed and yelled in fear while others like myself stood speechless and motionless. It was a man. A man whose reputation spoke for itself. It was the legendary Alpha Blade, known in Haven as The Ripper."Hello." He said
Dexter paced the wide hall, fuming in anger and occasionally throwing things around him away. His hands trembled with fury consuming him as he muttered curse words under his breath.Harrison Bugle, Dexter's beta and childhood best friend sat on a couch, whistling to the sound of his favorite country music, not bothered by his friend's troubled state.Dexter turned around to face Harrison. "Would you please stop that! It's both disturbing and annoying."Harrison stopped for a while then resumed. In annoyance, Dexter threw a pillow at him. "Just shut the hell up!""I would stop when you also stop pacing the hall, okay?" Harrison said, throwing the pillow back to Dexter. "Anyway, I don't even get why you're troubling yourself."Dexter's eyebrows raised as he stared at Harrison in surprise. "How can you say that? How can you say such when we are on the verge of losing everything we've worked for so many years?""How so?" Harrison asked casually."Oh my god!" Dexter said slamming his palm
Emily's POV I was reading 'Falling In Love With The Bad guy" when I heard Dad's car honking outside. Finally, the two old disturbances were back. Despite the coldness of the night, I heard Sandra scampering down the stairs, hurrying to meet Dad and Mum. That was something I really didn't understand —Why did my sisters love my parents so much? Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, mainly because everyone is meant to love their parents and also because they weren't abusive and they provided every thing I needed. I think that's enough reason to love one's parents. I closed the novel I was reading and quickly covered myself with my bedspread as I heard my mom's voice calling me from the stairs. "Emily!!!" She called out as she reached my door. As I had been expecting, she opened the door and waltzed in without even bothering to knock. "Emily?" I didn't respond. She sighed and then pulled the sheets above me. I yelped in shock. She frowned."
BLADE'S POV I've always loved the feeling of the warm morning sun on my skin. It always reminded me of the essence of life. All days but today, as the warm sun ignited my frail swollen skin, causing my skin to burn and sizzle under the mild sun. "You can't go out," protested Susan, who was pacing my room."You wouldn't make it through the gate." I took my reddened hands out of the sun and turned around to face the worried Susan. "I have to and you know it." I said, grabbing my biker's jacket from its hook and putting it on carefully on my swollen skin. "No, you don't. Dexter said he'll look for the moonlight elixir. Just be patient." "Patient?" I laughed. "You expect me to be patient in this condition? And you expect me to believe that f*cker?" "The one thing Dexter wants is for you to leave Haven and believe me, he knows the only way that's happening is if you get the elixir." I shook my head. "No! The one thing Dexter wants is to
EMILY POV I had to meet Mathilda. I really had to. Despite the freezing wind of the night, I was determined to see her. I managed to escape my house through the window of my room. Although, I had collapsed during my attempt to jump, attaining a some bruises on my elbow and ankle, I was still marching onwards to the south of town. After wandering the town for about an hour and half, I met Mathilda frolicking at a bar with men thrice her age. In spite of the wide grin on her face and the loudness of her ringing laughter, I could still sight the sadness engraved deeper in her hooded grey eyes. The moment her eyes caught mine, the forged happiness vanished and a grim expression surfaced. "Emily?" She said, walking away from her drunken acquaintances. "Hi!" I said, waving at her. She took me by the arm and led me out of the bar. When we were finally out and in the open, I decided to clear the air. "I just needed to see..." "What the hell are yo
BLADE She led me into the house which was considerably empty with little or no furniture and a two-seater couch in the large sitting room. "This place has changed." I said, shocked by the emptiness of the house. "Do you live here?" She didn't say a word but progressed further up the creaking stairs. "Why aren't you saying anything?" I asked, curiously as she led me into a dark room with red candles lit around. She shut the door and sat down on a mat. "Sit down." She said, pointing to a mat opposite her. Cautiously, I sat down with my eyes fixed on her the whole time. In between us was a bowl of water and a blunt knife wrapped in red clothing placed beside the bowl. "What is going on?" I asked as I hated being left in the dark most especially as my last time in the same house had been more than horrifying. "You want my help, don't you?" She asked causally. "Yes... but I don't see how any of this is going to help me." I said, a lit
Emily's POVI dropped the novel in my hand and squealed in excitement. I didn't know why but I always loved happy endings. Cuddling myself on my bed and replaying some of the major events in the book, I slowly began to see some similarities between myself and the female lead character. Although she was from a poor background and was a hundred times more hardworking than I, we had some things in common— firstly, she had a friend who was from a rich background and got all the attention —just like Janet—Secondly, her parents were controlling and overprotective, deciding what she'd become, who she'd end up marrying, what kind of clothes she'd wear—just like my parents. But could I actually follow her steps and get out of my depression? Could I possibly fall in love with a bad boy like she did, ignoring her parents warning and all that? I took a deep breath. It's been five days since my confrontation with Mathilda and ever since that night, she had refused to pick up my
