Chapter 15: Daphne

“By the way, Alpha Calle said you’ve lost your wolf?” Miss Amelia asked me out of the blue. “Mind if you tell me what happened?”

My cheeks burnt from the embarrassment of the question she asked me. Good thing Alpha Calle wasn’t in my room anymore because I didn’t want him to see how vulnerable I was when the topic was about my wolf. Not having a wolf of mine was my biggest weakness which ruined half of my life till now.

"No, I don't have a wolf. I mean, I shifted once, but she never came back." Although my voice cracked, I smiled at her.

Her eyes softened. As she lifted my chin and our eyes met, she smiled widely. "That's fine. Then you are definitely someone special," she replied in a sweet voice.

"How can I be special? I am just a person with no identity. A rogue's daughter,” I muttered, veering to the other side of the room. She ambled after me and sat on the edge of the bed beside me.
