Chapter Three First Shift

I went upstairs and crashed on my bed. I'm laying there about to go to sleep when suddenly Elsa starts talking to me, telling me not to sleep for too long, because we will be shifting soon. I'm so tired from my party. "Well, you're the one who wanted to party all night knowing that we needed to shift." As you know, shifting for the first time is very painful and we need to start early. Yes, I know that, but couldn't it wait until tomorrow? "Nope, we must shift now today has to be the day that we have to do it."

I had slept for a little while, then Elsa some me up telling me that it was time. We head downstairs out the backdoor heading to the forest. When I looked up I could see lightning and thunder erupting through the sky. This is great, it is already raining. "We will be fine as long as you are not afraid." I'm not afraid of thunder and lightning.

We are in the middle of the forest and I take my clothes off. Now concentrate and envision yourself as a wolf. I am concentrating, then suddenly I feel my bones start to crack. I bend over feeling agonizing pain going through me. I'm starting to feel my spine sprout with fur, then my face starts to elongate, as well as my arms and legs begin to become furry. I am in so much pain that I didn't even know that Cameron, my best friend, was there making sure that I would not go through my first time shifting process alone.

Cameron

While I was driving home and listening to my music and watching the rain come down. After I helped my mate's parents clean up from her birthday party. It had been a while since it rained too, which would be good for us since we needed the rain. I'm driving by the forest which is on the way home. All of a sudden I hear a scream. My Wolf Brice has been alerted to this as well. He says to me it sounds like mate. Then I thought about it and that is when I realized that she's going through her first shift, but why is she doing it alone? I said to myself.

Brice says we must go and help mate. I stopped the car and run into the forest and there she was in the middle of it, agonizing in pain trying to shift. I knelt and rubbed her back and that seemed to ease the pain. She continues as her face starts to elongate, then her arms and legs are covered with fur. Then her hands start turning into claws. After that Cailee is on all fours and she is the most beautiful creature I saw. Her fur was red with a white streak going down her back the right side of her back. "I'm looking at Cameron and asking him what is wrong." I'm just speechless, your wolf is beautiful. Go look in the small pond and see for yourself. Going over to look in the pond and I gasped. Oh my goodness, I say you're gorgeous, Elsa. No, she says we are gorgeous and with that, I walk away from the pond as I was starting to shift back and that is when I almost collapsed, but was caught by Cameron. He picks me up and carries me. I tell him you smell nice. "What do I smell like?" You smell like musk and pinewood. That is when Cailee closed her eyes to sleep.

By the time we came out of the forest, it was almost dawn. I looked and said that I needed to get back to my parents. Don't worry I will give you a ride home, Cameron says. "There's no way I am letting you walk after you just had your first shift." Besides, it is still raining, your parents would hurt me if I wasn't a proper gentleman. I headed to my car with Cailee in my arms, she smelled so good and felt right. Brice loved the idea of having our mate so close to us. I opened the passenger door and put her in the seat and buckled her in as she was too tired from shifting. We drove the ten miles back to her house while she was sleeping her head against the window. I looked over at her and knew she was the most beautiful mate for me even if she didn't know it yet.

I have a feeling that Cailee will know I'm here may soon enough. Right now I know you're tired so you just need to rest. The next thing she knows is we are parked in her driveway. She had finally woken up and told me thank you and was opening the door and before she knew it she tripped again for the second time but fell right into my arms. I had this look in his eyes, then she blushed a little while he was looking at me. "I ask her if she is alright?" Yes, I think that I'm just still a little woozy from shifting. Thanks for being there and not letting me fall flat on my face, you're welcome I said. Well, I better get inside before my parents wake up. "I think it may be too late for that as he is looking in the direction of my parents standing on the porch." Her parents noticed that it was me who brought Cailee home and they bowed their heads in respect. "Sorry, Cameron, we didn't notice that it was you that brought her home." Cailee walked towards her parents and the door was wide open. She had turned around to wave to me, then told me that she will see me at school.

It's alright I just helped her with her first shift. Oh my goodness you shifted sweetie, my mom says. Then why didn't you come and get one of us if you were going to shift? Well, I didn't want to wake you up because I knew you were both tired from the party and taking care of Stephen. With that, I drove back to the pack house.

Cailee

I'm going to go upstairs and rest now. "Alright, honey, you go and rest, but we want to see your wolf later on okay?" Yes, Dad, I say after I rest for a bit. Once I get into my room and see my bed, plop face down and I was off to dreamland. Before, I knew it my mom was calling me for dinner. Honey wake up you need to eat after that shifting you did you need your energy. Okay, Mom, I'm up I will be coming down for dinner in a few minutes. Going into the bathroom, I wash up and do my business. Taking a glimpse in the mirror I see that the rest has done us some good don't you think so Elsa? "Yes, I do now, can we go downstairs? I'm famished. So I headed downstairs smelling the aroma of delicious food. What did you make for dinner? Oh just your favorites she says, I look around and there's lasagna, mixed vegetables, Broccoli with cheese, steak, spaghetti, chicken, and turkey. Along with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Then there was soda, juice, and water to drink. My stomach started growling at the sight of it. I don't know if you know by now that once a person shift's into their wolf. It tends to drain your energy. So they need to eat a lot of food to sustain that energy.

After dinner we would love to see your wolf sweetie, my mom says. Or would you prefer to wait until you have had more rest my dad asked. No, it's fine I can show you after we eat. At that moment I just dug in and moaned at the deliciousness of the food. Do you think that Cameron may be your mate? My mom asked.
