Damien stood under the scorching sun whilst brimming with intense rage. He had been waiting for Ariel for over an hour outside now, and hoped that she would be out before he was done with exchanging goodbyes with Ella, but that didn’t happen.

I’m confused as to her complaints that she couldn’t go out and see the world or tell her father “notions?” Was she not a toddler when this all happened? What toddler roams the world? I’m losing interest due to all the confusing plot discrepancies
