"Find him!" Damien 's voice boomed across the kitchen and Ariel flinched as well as the rest of the sentries who scampered out after his outburst.

"Hey," He said softly, reaching for Ariel, but she flinched again, breathing hard and fast, staring at the direction in which Williams had gone, eyes wide with fear and despair.

"Ar--"

A whimper escaped her and he hated that he could smell her fear. He hated that she trembled so much. It hadn't been long since he had made her go through the same fear. He had made those tears drop from her eyes, broken her spirit, broken her heart, and...seeing her now, with the same fear in her eyes...he hated himself for everything he'd done to her.

"Ariel," he said, barely able to hear his voice over his raging heart. Ariel didn't either as her sobs began in full earnest. It was like he didn't exist. She couldn't see him. Or hear him. She was scared out of her mind.
