Ariel slowly opened her heavy eyelids. Peeling them open took such a tremendous effort from her, that she immediately felt the little energy left in her veins drained off like water in a basket. She groaned, only able to open her eyes to a tiny squint. Not only were her eyes swollen, and in pain, but they were also bloodshot, from crying so hard from all the suffering the Alpha inflicted on her last night.
She had cried so hard that her eyes ran dry, with the salty residue of her pain, leaving nasty crusts in her eyes that only added to the extreme discomfort.Slowly, she moved her head to the side, blinking to clear her blurry vision. It felt so cold around her, that she could not even tell her surroundings apart. The cold was permeating her head from beneath, soaking into her brain and scattering her senses. She could not even tell left apart from right.Slowly, she recognized where she lay as the floor of the Alpha’s room. She was in the Alpha’s room. That realisation sent the cold on her skin deeper into her body until it struck her heart like a fist. She was in Alpha Damien’s room. Her body began to tremble, as if it had a mind of its own. Surely, her body knew its tormentor. Surely, her body knew that pain was all Alpha Damien brought in her direction. One would think that if she has spent years of her life in pain, she would eventually become resistant to it.That could not be more wrong.Every day brought a new type of pain. Just when she began to think she could withstand it, another pain comes and breaks her completely to the ground, leaving her grovelling, breathless and helpless. She whimpered, as she tried to get up from the floor. She could not remain in here. Not only that, but she had to leave immediately. Her mind was unable to handle facing Alpha Damien again after he hit, beat and pummelled her to the brink of death last night. She was unable to handle that degree of fear.As she managed to flip over to the side, an extremely sharp pain spiked through her body like lightning from the red, bleeding and swollen injuries caused by the Alpha’s whip. She could not dare to make a mess in the Alpha’s room, so with a pained cry, she swallowed the glob of blood back down. She screamed to let out the pain, blood spurting up from her mouth. Even her scream was incredibly weak, hoarse, and dry. For hours after hours, she had screamed and screamed until her throat bled, and she could no longer let out a sound. After all, that was her body’s only way to protest against the maltreatment.Fresh tears streamed down her face and she snivelled, shaking as she struggled to get back up. Spiders of pain travelled down the rest of her body, so fast that she squeezed her eyes shut.“I have…” She groaned shakily. “I have to— argh!” She forgot about the massive cut she had on the side of her thigh, as she tested her weight on it. Fresh red blood immediately began to spread for her tattered clothes that covered the area.Thankfully, her dirty clothes were thick enough to hold the blood, so that it did not leak onto the floor and taint Alpha Damien’s floor with her mongrel blood. She was fighting to make even the slightest movement, but it was so difficult when she could clearly remember every hit, every whip and every strike Alpha Damien made against her helpless body.No one had come to her rescue as usual, and she had remained his punching bag, receiving all his wild, pent-up anger and frustration, until the world was black and dead to her. Now, he was not hitting her. But, she woke up exactly where she passed out. On the cold, merciless floor. Taking in a deep, pained breath, she finally tried to push her body up with her arms. But, that was going too far. That was all her body could take, and she collapsed back to the floor, unconscious.~When Ariel managed to come back to consciousness, she found that someone was crouching over her. Immediately, she assumed it was the Alpha, and her body froze up, pulse skittering with maddening fear.It had been so silent and peaceful when she was unconscious. Why did the world hate her so much to keep bringing her back to this reality, where pain was all she knew? Where nightmares and memories blurred together so much, that she had no idea any more of which was which?“I know you are awake.” A strong male voice said, and her panicking thoughts froze. It was not the Alpha. It was Alex. Alpha Damien’s beta. Slowly, she pried her eyes open. It was easier to move now, than the other time she gained consciousness. Her body still thrummed with hot pain, but at least it was a tiny bit bearable now. When her vision clearly focused, she saw Alex staring down at her. Even in his crouched position, he still loomed over her body like a hulk. He moved his hand, and she heard the sound of a plate scraping along the floor.“Eat up.” He said.Ariel didn’t need to be told twice. Her starved stomach growled, prompting her body to lift itself up from the ground and grab the small plate of food like it was going to vanish into thin air if she did not move fast enough. The food smelled spectacular, and her starved taste buds watered hungrily. As a bonus, the food was even warm, fresh from the kitchen. She could not even find the words to describe her appreciation because she was too starved to think. Using her hands, she plunged into the food, scarfing it down and devouring it like she would die in the next second. She swallowed incessantly, throwing more food into her mouth before the one in there was even gone. Soon, the small amount of food in the plate drastically reduced in size, until there was nothing but crumbs left. Still, she chased the crumbs around the plate until she had them all in her hand. Throwing it in her mouth, she chewed and swallowed, staring longingly at the now empty and shiny plate, wishing there was more. But, what she ate today was better than what she was able to scrape off leftovers most days, and she was extremely grateful to Alex for his kind deed towards her.So, she looked up from her plate, up to Alex, who was still staring at her, with an expression on his face that showed how uncivilised and wild he thought she was. Especially with the way she devoured the entire plate of food in just seconds, right in front of him.“Thank you so much.” She lowered her eyes respectfully, trying to make her words as clear as possible, despite her scratchy throat. “I am truly grateful for the food…”He arched an eyebrow in disdain, his stare turning into a merciless glare. “Why are you acting like we are friends just because I gave you some leftovers I found in the kitchen after all the slaves had their share?” His harsh voice shocked her and crushed any hope she had lingering in her mind.It was like a boulder to an egg. He destroyed any ray of light his action might have shone on her, leaving nothing but the same old darkness to engulf her again.“You are nothing but a murderer’s daughter...” He snarled. “..and you should know and remain in your place. Now, get up and leave this instant, before the Alpha gets back.”That was a direct order, that she would not even dare dream of defying. With rejection and dejection rolling through her, she pulled herself up from the floor, grabbing her used plate as well. The food she just ate suddenly felt like rocks in her stomach, and her belly growled louder in more hunger, discontent, and nausea. With every step she took towards the door, her body hurt, but she had to hurry and leave this place before Beta got angry. Or worse, before Alpha Damien returned.Motivated by her fear, she quickened her pace across the large room to the door. Pulling it open, she stepped outside, letting out a silent sigh of relief when she no longer felt Alex’s accusing glare on her back. As she closed the door and turned forward, her eyes fell on a familiar tall, broad and masculine figure storming towards this direction, from a few metres away.It was Alpha Damien, and he was coming back to his room, which she still currently stood in front of.That was terribly bad. Her eyes widened in raw petrification once she spotted him, and in her frozen state, the closer he got.Luckily for her, he walked past her like she didn't even exist. She was sure he had something to do in his room, if not, he would have stopped to hit her and for the first time, she was grateful for the fact that someone ignored her. Maybe he was storming into the room to look for her, her subconsciousness said. She quickly hurried to the kitchen. As she got back to the kitchen, the feeling of dread at what awaits her, befell upon her. She was still in pain over what he did to her, and she knew that there would be more work awaiting her as she got there. She was right, as she stepped into the kitchen, she saw the heap of plates awaiting her return, and the head maid was ever so kind to point it out."You have to finish up the dishes. I asked one of the girls to begin the work after your little fiasco," she said, sneering, as she obviously believed that she had no reason to have fainted upon hearing their great alpha's name."After you're done with them, let me know, so I can compile th
It was going to be a huge party and a sophisticated one at that, the whole place was busy with maids going about making sure everything was set. They were not exactly doing anything, just monitoring what Ariel was doing.Ariel was in the dining room, cleaning the tables and chairs and setting them perfectly for the guests. She looked around the big dining room and wondered how she would be able to finish cleaning it and setting it up before the Alphas arrived. She wished somebody could come and help her with the chore at least because she was so worked out. As she may have had it, a little luck shone on her and a girl who was one of the servants, came to assist her.Ariel felt so happy, as she saw the girl come in. She couldn't remember her name, but she knew she had seen her often in the kitchen while she was doing the dishes.Ariel walked towards the girl to try to start up a conversation, at least she was her helper.“Hello, I'm Ariel,” she said, smiling, trying to stir up a convers
In tears, she walked into her room. She couldn’t help but think about how she’d cope with such treatment for the rest of her life. She sniffled, as she wiped her tears before shutting the door behind her. Ariel knew she had to get used to this sort of treatment, as there was no one to even help her.She knew there would be no one to stand up for her, but deep down, she wanted someone to. She wanted someone that would always take a stand for her, someone who would punish anyone who dared to say shameless things about her, but sadly, she had no one.Remembering all these, tears streamed down her cheeks. She remembered all the shameless words those alphas had spoken about her and worst of it all, they didn’t say it behind her, they’d said it right in front of her.Didn’t they think she’d have feelings? Did they not think she was a creature who had the right to feel bad whenever such things were sad about her? She slid to the ground in tears. All she wanted was to live a decent life, one,
Alpha Damien stormed towards the person he hated most in the world—Ariel. He wanted to torture her, torture her so much that, she would feel pain that, even he, had never felt before. He wanted to punish and torture her to the extent that, she would beg him to kill her. Likewise, he wanted her to feel a pulsing type of pain never experienced before, so much that his heart ached, and he felt a blinding anger taking over him, consuming his whole body. His eyes blazed red with fury, as he looked at her. He was so close to her now that he could scent her fear. It permeated the surrounding air, cloying to the entire environment like a leech. The pathetic girl cowered before Alpha Damien, her head bowed down so much that it touched her chest and her body was trembling, trembling so much that it seemed as if she had been thrown into a magnetic field. He grinned to himself because of the effect he was having on her. He was very well aware of the sheer terror that was being presented to her. It
Getting out of the room, she was met by a huge gathering of the pack members. She stared forward to see why everyone gathered. It’s probably one of those impromptu meetings. The Alpha, Damien, walked down majestically from the stairs, his composure was grandly towering, as if he wasn’t the one that nearly strangled her minutes ago. He had some Beta wolves, who served as guards behind him. He glared around the room, as he suspiciously scrutinised everyone.Ariel could almost swear when his eyes met with hers in an unfriendly manner, he let out a scowl, and frowned. She sighed because she was the least happy person in that room, who craved his presence.“I would be leaving today for a trip,” he said rather briefly, catching everyone off-guard.Ariel was not aware when she let out a sigh, no it wasn't just a sigh, it was a breath of relief. She had let out an obvious breath of relief, causing everyone to ominously shift their gaze upon her for a second. She prayed instantly the ground wou
Ariel caressed her cheeks that stung like hell. The metallic tang of blood filled her mouth, and she resisted the urge to spit it in the head cook's face. It would earn her another slap and while she prided in her perseverance, it was not an excellent idea. She stomped across the dark marbled floors of the mansion, thinking of several creative ways she could poison both Damien and the head maid. Though, it would be pretty obvious if she used poison. They would trace it back to her. She thought about grinding glass as an ingredient in their food and decided against it. They would definitely trace the deaths back to her. They already thought she was something she wasn't. It would not be hard to pin it all on her.Stupid mansion. Stupid head maid. Stupid Alpha. She thought. Her thoughts wandered to that night, that moment everything had gone to hell. That moment, something deep and powerful had taken a strong hold within her. A bond so strong, it had caused her knees to buckle. Her heart
Ariel was a bit surprised, as to why they were being called into the corridor again because the head had told them three days ago that they would not be called to the corridor any more. They were always called into the corridor for only two things. One, to inspect them carefully for any form of sicknesses or if they were in any bad state, and the second one, was to make sure that all the slaves were still around and no one had run away. They had been doing this for a while, but Ariel didn't know why she felt weird today. She felt like going into the corridor was going to put her into some trouble or as if something bad was going to happen to her.The only time something bad had happened when they went to the corridor, was when one of her fellow slaves, Emma, was pregnant; she didn't know about it, until they went for their normal inspection.Ariel could still hear her screams as she was being dragged away. She shivered as the memory creeped back into her head. She looked around, and sh
Zane~His body arched from pains continuously and he could not help it. He knew what was going on and happening. The mate bond between him and Ariel is making him feel all the pains she’s feeling, making it hard for him to concentrate on his business trip. He decided to put a call through to Courtney.Courtney picked at the first ring. Not like she dare make screen his call or make it ring twice.“I’d be coming home soon” he said over the phone and dropped the call, not giving her a chance to reply. Who cares about her opinion?Alex, his better who has been wondering what was going on. They had postponed a lot of their meetings with their business partners due to Damien’s lack of ability to concentrate. They even lot some of the great deals. Curiosity got the best part of him so he asked, “What’s going on?’“Start packing, we’re leaving’ was all he got as a reply. Alex wasn’t surprised, he knows the Alpha well ******The maids in the kitchen all erupted in hysterical laughter, laughin
