EPISODE 5: Wishes and death
Ariel was back at the kitchen and this time, her hands were all red and her skin itched with irritation and irrationality.
Tears were dripping from her eyes and her nose dripped so much, it had further turned red. However, her tears weren’t for the pain she was feeling in her gut, due to the fact that she had not eaten for days, neither was it because of the pain and ache her chest and bones felt for laying on the cold, hard ground for days, it was not because of the thirst her throat felt that seemed like it was burning neither was it for the pathetic life she was living. It was because of the punishment she was serving. Rather than coming into the kitchen to work like every other slave was, she was being given a punishment for waking up late. Her eyes watered as she turned to the bag of chili pepper right before her. It had not gotten anyway yet. Her body was burning so much. How was she supposed to peel them all?
“How can I ever finish this?” her thoughts questioned, and she sniffed. Perhaps it was truly the best that she remained with the darkness where it was best. It was a perfect hiding place and in there, she wouldn’t have to feel all the pains of the world, neither would she be tortured and slaved away like that. It was truly the best, the very best, and the more she thought of it, the more her heart longed for it.
Her thoughts were interrupted when a slave ran into the kitchen, drenching in sweat and ecstasy. The other slaves present turned to her with both worry and annoyance in their gaze.
“What happened?” they asked, one after the other. Ariel’s heart ached even more at the care and concern they showed the other slave. It might be fake, unreal or not concern at all, but at least they were asking, at least, they could surround her, at least they were even talking to her.
“When was the last time I was asked that?” her spirit questioned silently. She dropped her head and allowed the pain she had gotten accustomed to spread through her body till it would no longer ache.
“Fifteen, sixteen, seventeen years, has it been?” she smiled bitterly at herself. She had never been asked if she had eaten, neither had she ever been asked if she was fine. No one spoke to her except they wanted to yell or punish her for something. No one even bothered to look at her twice. She was like a taint, an unpleasant sight, garbage that had no one’s time. Not even on the days she fainted, nor was it on the day she was beaten up. No one cared, no one showed concern, and no one moved out of the way to check on her. If she falls unconscious right there in the kitchen, she would wake up at the side of the garbage can tomorrow morning, or would wake up at the exact place she fell unconscious. If she was beaten to a pulp and needed help, no one gave her a listening ear, neither did anyone stretch a hand towards her. No one tended to her wounds and no one cared if she died or not. Perhaps that was what they wanted, her death.
“Alpha Damien just returned,” the maid who had rushed into the kitchen shrieked in excitement. Ariel pulled away from her trance and her ears perked up immediately.
Ariel's eyes widened in shock at the revelation.
Fear like death squeezed her heart and its deathly claw caressed her skin, feeling her with cold and trembling. The last time the alpha was there, she had borne the brunt of his hate and anger. Fear enveloped her as she recalled the countless nights and days spent on the bear ground till her wounds fully healed.
The other servant shrieked as well in excitement. He was their alpha after all and they all had love for him beyond human comprehension.
A bond the pack had with each other was stronger than anything else. Not to add that they were women and could as well dream of the handsome, sexy alpha too in ways any other woman would.
“And the best news,” the servant who had run in entered and they all went still and quiet as their ears itched to hear the other news, she brought with her.
“He is coming right here,” she yelled. Ariel shot up from where she sat in chagrin.
Her heart began beating very loud and fear settled at the pit of her heart as it slowly began to squeeze the life out of her. Suddenly a wave of dizziness slammed against her and her legs went numb. She turned to the girls screaming and shrieking and stretched her hand towards them, for help, a little touch, a little hand, anything. But coldness met her and while she fell into that familiar dark hole, no one dared pull her out. she was met with nothing but that familiar coldness. And right before she finally slipped, blue steel gaze penetrated her very being.
“Can’t you die too,” a stray tear fell down her eyes as her thought wished as she fell once again into an unconcious slumber.
Ariel slowly opened her heavy eyelids. Peeling them open took such a tremendous effort from her, that she immediately felt the little energy left in her veins drained off like water in a basket. She groaned, only able to open her eyes to a tiny squint. Not only were her eyes swollen, and in pain, but they were also bloodshot, from crying so hard from all the suffering the Alpha inflicted on her last night. She had cried so hard that her eyes ran dry, with the salty residue of her pain, leaving nasty crusts in her eyes that only added to the extreme discomfort.Slowly, she moved her head to the side, blinking to clear her blurry vision. It felt so cold around her, that she could not even tell her surroundings apart. The cold was permeating her head from beneath, soaking into her brain and scattering her senses. She could not even tell left apart from right.Slowly, she recognized where she lay as the floor of the Alpha’s room. She was in the Alpha’s room. That realisation sent the cold
Luckily for her, he walked past her like she didn't even exist. She was sure he had something to do in his room, if not, he would have stopped to hit her and for the first time, she was grateful for the fact that someone ignored her. Maybe he was storming into the room to look for her, her subconsciousness said. She quickly hurried to the kitchen. As she got back to the kitchen, the feeling of dread at what awaits her, befell upon her. She was still in pain over what he did to her, and she knew that there would be more work awaiting her as she got there. She was right, as she stepped into the kitchen, she saw the heap of plates awaiting her return, and the head maid was ever so kind to point it out."You have to finish up the dishes. I asked one of the girls to begin the work after your little fiasco," she said, sneering, as she obviously believed that she had no reason to have fainted upon hearing their great alpha's name."After you're done with them, let me know, so I can compile th
It was going to be a huge party and a sophisticated one at that, the whole place was busy with maids going about making sure everything was set. They were not exactly doing anything, just monitoring what Ariel was doing.Ariel was in the dining room, cleaning the tables and chairs and setting them perfectly for the guests. She looked around the big dining room and wondered how she would be able to finish cleaning it and setting it up before the Alphas arrived. She wished somebody could come and help her with the chore at least because she was so worked out. As she may have had it, a little luck shone on her and a girl who was one of the servants, came to assist her.Ariel felt so happy, as she saw the girl come in. She couldn't remember her name, but she knew she had seen her often in the kitchen while she was doing the dishes.Ariel walked towards the girl to try to start up a conversation, at least she was her helper.“Hello, I'm Ariel,” she said, smiling, trying to stir up a convers
In tears, she walked into her room. She couldn’t help but think about how she’d cope with such treatment for the rest of her life. She sniffled, as she wiped her tears before shutting the door behind her. Ariel knew she had to get used to this sort of treatment, as there was no one to even help her.She knew there would be no one to stand up for her, but deep down, she wanted someone to. She wanted someone that would always take a stand for her, someone who would punish anyone who dared to say shameless things about her, but sadly, she had no one.Remembering all these, tears streamed down her cheeks. She remembered all the shameless words those alphas had spoken about her and worst of it all, they didn’t say it behind her, they’d said it right in front of her.Didn’t they think she’d have feelings? Did they not think she was a creature who had the right to feel bad whenever such things were sad about her? She slid to the ground in tears. All she wanted was to live a decent life, one,
Alpha Damien stormed towards the person he hated most in the world—Ariel. He wanted to torture her, torture her so much that, she would feel pain that, even he, had never felt before. He wanted to punish and torture her to the extent that, she would beg him to kill her. Likewise, he wanted her to feel a pulsing type of pain never experienced before, so much that his heart ached, and he felt a blinding anger taking over him, consuming his whole body. His eyes blazed red with fury, as he looked at her. He was so close to her now that he could scent her fear. It permeated the surrounding air, cloying to the entire environment like a leech. The pathetic girl cowered before Alpha Damien, her head bowed down so much that it touched her chest and her body was trembling, trembling so much that it seemed as if she had been thrown into a magnetic field. He grinned to himself because of the effect he was having on her. He was very well aware of the sheer terror that was being presented to her. It
Getting out of the room, she was met by a huge gathering of the pack members. She stared forward to see why everyone gathered. It’s probably one of those impromptu meetings. The Alpha, Damien, walked down majestically from the stairs, his composure was grandly towering, as if he wasn’t the one that nearly strangled her minutes ago. He had some Beta wolves, who served as guards behind him. He glared around the room, as he suspiciously scrutinised everyone.Ariel could almost swear when his eyes met with hers in an unfriendly manner, he let out a scowl, and frowned. She sighed because she was the least happy person in that room, who craved his presence.“I would be leaving today for a trip,” he said rather briefly, catching everyone off-guard.Ariel was not aware when she let out a sigh, no it wasn't just a sigh, it was a breath of relief. She had let out an obvious breath of relief, causing everyone to ominously shift their gaze upon her for a second. She prayed instantly the ground wou
Ariel caressed her cheeks that stung like hell. The metallic tang of blood filled her mouth, and she resisted the urge to spit it in the head cook's face. It would earn her another slap and while she prided in her perseverance, it was not an excellent idea. She stomped across the dark marbled floors of the mansion, thinking of several creative ways she could poison both Damien and the head maid. Though, it would be pretty obvious if she used poison. They would trace it back to her. She thought about grinding glass as an ingredient in their food and decided against it. They would definitely trace the deaths back to her. They already thought she was something she wasn't. It would not be hard to pin it all on her.Stupid mansion. Stupid head maid. Stupid Alpha. She thought. Her thoughts wandered to that night, that moment everything had gone to hell. That moment, something deep and powerful had taken a strong hold within her. A bond so strong, it had caused her knees to buckle. Her heart
Ariel was a bit surprised, as to why they were being called into the corridor again because the head had told them three days ago that they would not be called to the corridor any more. They were always called into the corridor for only two things. One, to inspect them carefully for any form of sicknesses or if they were in any bad state, and the second one, was to make sure that all the slaves were still around and no one had run away. They had been doing this for a while, but Ariel didn't know why she felt weird today. She felt like going into the corridor was going to put her into some trouble or as if something bad was going to happen to her.The only time something bad had happened when they went to the corridor, was when one of her fellow slaves, Emma, was pregnant; she didn't know about it, until they went for their normal inspection.Ariel could still hear her screams as she was being dragged away. She shivered as the memory creeped back into her head. She looked around, and sh
