EPISODE 4: Searching for one
Damien shook the hand of the man sitting opposite him and smiled. His eyes shone beneath the sky and his hair danced and bounced with each move he made.
A business deal was done and dusted and once again, his territory had been expanded. It was something to be proud of, something to be excited about, something to want too merry for.
And yes, he would feast again to celebrate this new expansion and let the world know that he wasn’t going to stop.
Anyone can feel threatened, he didn't care. He must get what he wants and everyone knows better than to get in his way.
He smirked to himself.
Once the business deal was done, his beta, Alex stepped forward and started walking beside him while guards followed behind.
As they stepped out of the busy and largest skyscrapers in Emerald city, reporters swoon in with excitement, flashlights and a lot of questions to ask and more news to spread.
It was intoxicating to see them going to such length, but it was a lifestyle, one Damien was used to. Alex made sure no one came near him, while his warrior guards made way for him till, they arrived at his car and gently secured him inside.
Alex, accompanied by the driver sat the front while the other warriors took the other cars and followed behind and in front and they sped away.
The semi smile Damien put up on his face disappeared into a dry look as silence descended on him and emptiness followed.
He sighed and ran a hand through his soft, smooth hair. He relaxed into the chair while he looked out through the city.
“Where to, alpha?” Alex asked, believing that he would want to spend some time and relax for a moment. They had just expanded their territory and it wouldn’t be a problem if he wanted to stay for a little more,
“Home,” his deep, cold voice came dryly, and Alex turned swiftly to him. It was not because of the cold and harsh air around his reply, but because of the silent pain he heard in that word.
"Home? When did it become a 'home'" Alex retorted.
“Take me home, Alex, I don't have the strength for this” Alpha Damien ordered when he saw that knowing and concerned look his beta gave him and his heart ached.
If Alex was going to say anything or investigate on what the matter could be, he no longer did so and went quiet. He turned back to the front sit and allowed his alpha be.
The driver drove into the airport and straight away for the Jet packing space. It had been called beforehand and asked to be ready since Damien would be leaving the city immediately, and just as the order came, it was ready. With his warriors at every flank of him, the Jet was made secure, and he walked in with the air that continuously clogged his skin. The air of the alpha he was.
He sat down and allowed his warriors to rest for a bit since it had been a handful the past few days. Alex sat beside him, refusing to leave his side, and watched him. He knew that there was something wrong with his alpha and he was not going to relax till he knew what it was. Damien wasn’t just an alpha to him, but a friend that needed protection. Being the same age with him and all, they had literally been together from the very beginning of their lives till that very moment. He knew of all the moments, seconds and experiences the alpha had been through since he was always there beside him to share this pain too. How could he not know when there was something wrong with Damien?
“Do you think the humans are beginning to get scared?” he decided to break the silence since the other was refusing to simply just open up.
Damien who had his head rested against the chairs with his eyes close fluttered his eyes opened, revealing his perfect blue eyes that shone brightly and pulled any soul in for comfort till he completely shreds you apart. He was the perfect predator, though he had the air and ruthlessness of any alpha surrounding him like a deadly aura, his eyes seem to speak differently whenever he was looking at someone and when he smiles, it eases people’s heart and pulls them close and closer and closer till he attacks his prey.
“They should,” he grumbled in response and Alex glared at him.
“That’s not good, you know,” he knew of how terrible it would be if the humans started to get scared. Werewolves and humans had lived in the same world with the knowledge of each other gravely entailed in their mind. The harmonious season and peace had been superb to the extent that they no longer saw the strong, ferocious beasts as a threat. It might be because of the treaty of peace to live together in oneness or it might be because of something else. Nevertheless, werewolves of each territory had done their very best to make sure that the peace was being kept. But Damien was not only eye catching, he was famous, popular and trending amongst his pairs in both the eyes of the humans and the other packs and he cared less about most things.
“We have the werewolves to worry about with your expansions. They would definitely not like you growing stronger and stronger and claiming more territories would do just that. Having humans think that you are growing too fast and powerful for a werewolf would only add to that,” he summarized his conclusion. Damien ignored him and shut his eyes again then he relaxed his head into the sit.
“They can get scared or threatened all they want, I won’t stop. None of them or you can stop me!” He answered coldly and Alex let out a sigh. This was a discussion that had been carried out before hand and way before he started expanding so much, but even till date, it always ended up in the same reason.
“Why are you doing this exactly?” he asked, refusing to let the matter rest. They had everything from the pack, they had everything to the fame, money and wealth. Red moon pack was one of the strongest and largest and his father had made sure nothing would go wrong at all. They could be satisfied with their lives and what they had, yet Damien wasn’t.
“For power, what else?” Damien responded.
“You have power you have virtually everything you want,” Alex grunted in dissatisfaction. If Damien heard him, he pretended he didn’t and remained silent. Alex didn’t have to know that he was still in search for power, anything that would keep him so high, no one would trample on him like they had done to his father. He wanted so much power that would help him defend his home way more than his father did. He wanted to be powerful enough to keep his people safe, protected and away from pain. His enemies had to think twice before they would be attack. The power his father thought he had, wasn’t enough, that was why he died after everything. He needed more.
Thinking of home gave him yet another empty feeling and his heart ached as it searched for something not even wealth and power had given him yet.
“Do you think I would ever find my mate?” he suddenly asked and Alex snapped his gaze to him. He had been searching for her ever since he turned an adult and no matter how high or far, he searched, he just never found her.
“You are twenty-six, Damien. You still have enough time,” Alex replied, slightly enraged at his line of thoughts.
“My father found my mom before he was twenty-six, Alex. I’m the alpha of a powerful pack and I need a Luna,” he responded dryly when his heart ached at just the mere thought of it. He needed his Luna by his side, he needed his mate, he knew that was the only way he could heal, that was the only way home would be home and that was the only other reason he would fight to the death to protect his home. He would have a purpose other than duty, duty to his people. He would have love, a home, and completion.
He would have her and she would be his world.
“Where are you?” he silently cried.
His heart ached deeply for his mate.
EPISODE 5: Wishes and deathAriel was back at the kitchen and this time, her hands were all red and her skin itched with irritation and irrationality. Tears were dripping from her eyes and her nose dripped so much, it had further turned red. However, her tears weren’t for the pain she was feeling in her gut, due to the fact that she had not eaten for days, neither was it because of the pain and ache her chest and bones felt for laying on the cold, hard ground for days, it was not because of the thirst her throat felt that seemed like it was burning neither was it for the pathetic life she was living. It was because of the punishment she was serving. Rather than coming into the kitchen to work like every other slave was, she was being given a punishment for waking up late. Her eyes watered as she turned to the bag of chili pepper right before her. It had not gotten anyway yet. Her body was burning so much. How was she supposed to peel them all?“How can I ever finish this?” her though
Ariel slowly opened her heavy eyelids. Peeling them open took such a tremendous effort from her, that she immediately felt the little energy left in her veins drained off like water in a basket. She groaned, only able to open her eyes to a tiny squint. Not only were her eyes swollen, and in pain, but they were also bloodshot, from crying so hard from all the suffering the Alpha inflicted on her last night. She had cried so hard that her eyes ran dry, with the salty residue of her pain, leaving nasty crusts in her eyes that only added to the extreme discomfort.Slowly, she moved her head to the side, blinking to clear her blurry vision. It felt so cold around her, that she could not even tell her surroundings apart. The cold was permeating her head from beneath, soaking into her brain and scattering her senses. She could not even tell left apart from right.Slowly, she recognized where she lay as the floor of the Alpha’s room. She was in the Alpha’s room. That realisation sent the cold
Luckily for her, he walked past her like she didn't even exist. She was sure he had something to do in his room, if not, he would have stopped to hit her and for the first time, she was grateful for the fact that someone ignored her. Maybe he was storming into the room to look for her, her subconsciousness said. She quickly hurried to the kitchen. As she got back to the kitchen, the feeling of dread at what awaits her, befell upon her. She was still in pain over what he did to her, and she knew that there would be more work awaiting her as she got there. She was right, as she stepped into the kitchen, she saw the heap of plates awaiting her return, and the head maid was ever so kind to point it out."You have to finish up the dishes. I asked one of the girls to begin the work after your little fiasco," she said, sneering, as she obviously believed that she had no reason to have fainted upon hearing their great alpha's name."After you're done with them, let me know, so I can compile th
It was going to be a huge party and a sophisticated one at that, the whole place was busy with maids going about making sure everything was set. They were not exactly doing anything, just monitoring what Ariel was doing.Ariel was in the dining room, cleaning the tables and chairs and setting them perfectly for the guests. She looked around the big dining room and wondered how she would be able to finish cleaning it and setting it up before the Alphas arrived. She wished somebody could come and help her with the chore at least because she was so worked out. As she may have had it, a little luck shone on her and a girl who was one of the servants, came to assist her.Ariel felt so happy, as she saw the girl come in. She couldn't remember her name, but she knew she had seen her often in the kitchen while she was doing the dishes.Ariel walked towards the girl to try to start up a conversation, at least she was her helper.“Hello, I'm Ariel,” she said, smiling, trying to stir up a convers
In tears, she walked into her room. She couldn’t help but think about how she’d cope with such treatment for the rest of her life. She sniffled, as she wiped her tears before shutting the door behind her. Ariel knew she had to get used to this sort of treatment, as there was no one to even help her.She knew there would be no one to stand up for her, but deep down, she wanted someone to. She wanted someone that would always take a stand for her, someone who would punish anyone who dared to say shameless things about her, but sadly, she had no one.Remembering all these, tears streamed down her cheeks. She remembered all the shameless words those alphas had spoken about her and worst of it all, they didn’t say it behind her, they’d said it right in front of her.Didn’t they think she’d have feelings? Did they not think she was a creature who had the right to feel bad whenever such things were sad about her? She slid to the ground in tears. All she wanted was to live a decent life, one,
Alpha Damien stormed towards the person he hated most in the world—Ariel. He wanted to torture her, torture her so much that, she would feel pain that, even he, had never felt before. He wanted to punish and torture her to the extent that, she would beg him to kill her. Likewise, he wanted her to feel a pulsing type of pain never experienced before, so much that his heart ached, and he felt a blinding anger taking over him, consuming his whole body. His eyes blazed red with fury, as he looked at her. He was so close to her now that he could scent her fear. It permeated the surrounding air, cloying to the entire environment like a leech. The pathetic girl cowered before Alpha Damien, her head bowed down so much that it touched her chest and her body was trembling, trembling so much that it seemed as if she had been thrown into a magnetic field. He grinned to himself because of the effect he was having on her. He was very well aware of the sheer terror that was being presented to her. It
Getting out of the room, she was met by a huge gathering of the pack members. She stared forward to see why everyone gathered. It’s probably one of those impromptu meetings. The Alpha, Damien, walked down majestically from the stairs, his composure was grandly towering, as if he wasn’t the one that nearly strangled her minutes ago. He had some Beta wolves, who served as guards behind him. He glared around the room, as he suspiciously scrutinised everyone.Ariel could almost swear when his eyes met with hers in an unfriendly manner, he let out a scowl, and frowned. She sighed because she was the least happy person in that room, who craved his presence.“I would be leaving today for a trip,” he said rather briefly, catching everyone off-guard.Ariel was not aware when she let out a sigh, no it wasn't just a sigh, it was a breath of relief. She had let out an obvious breath of relief, causing everyone to ominously shift their gaze upon her for a second. She prayed instantly the ground wou
Ariel caressed her cheeks that stung like hell. The metallic tang of blood filled her mouth, and she resisted the urge to spit it in the head cook's face. It would earn her another slap and while she prided in her perseverance, it was not an excellent idea. She stomped across the dark marbled floors of the mansion, thinking of several creative ways she could poison both Damien and the head maid. Though, it would be pretty obvious if she used poison. They would trace it back to her. She thought about grinding glass as an ingredient in their food and decided against it. They would definitely trace the deaths back to her. They already thought she was something she wasn't. It would not be hard to pin it all on her.Stupid mansion. Stupid head maid. Stupid Alpha. She thought. Her thoughts wandered to that night, that moment everything had gone to hell. That moment, something deep and powerful had taken a strong hold within her. A bond so strong, it had caused her knees to buckle. Her heart
