“ – and what makes you think so?” Jacqueline said, a sly smile still playing on her lips as she stared at me.
“ Because he’s already gotten what he wanted a very long time ago,” I said though my voice didn’t carry the confidence I had expected it to.
Jacqueline shook her head and looked at the ground as she said, “ For someone who beat you and left you for dead you sure do have a lot of faith in him.”
