Chapter 42

My fork had fallen out of my hand. Desmond was wearing jeans and a blue shirt, his hair messy. His eyes didn’t hold the same emptiness as they did the last time. Mildly I wondered if my kiss helped him. My heart raced but I cursed, his friend probably tipped him off. “Fucking fey. Every time.”

He sat down on the opposite side of the table, eyeing my food choice. “Glenn called me upset that the fey princess was alone in the city.”

Shaking my head, I shoved a forkful of food in my mouth.

“You don’t even have a phone. What if something would have happened? You literally have people threatening you that have killed people.”

“What would have happened Desmond? I’m a hunter and I’ve walked the entire US multiple times, alone, before settling here. I can take care of myself. I’m also not a princess. I’m not fey.”

Though I understand where she was coming from, think she was a bit overreacting as Glenn didn’t mean any harm but just didn’t know how to control his mouth
