The next week or so I didn’t see Desmond. Marcus said he was busy with Alpha James and was rarely in the territory anymore. It made it easier to go back to avoiding him that way. Liam and Nat had started coming over more to my cabin. I was mid replacing the walls nearing the end of my project. Nat would toss her phone away and blast music in the house while I worked, the both of us singing at a ridiculous volume. Not always on key. For the umpteenth time today, I wondered how I had gotten here. A glass of bourbon in my hand as I leaned over the bar.
