Her saviour

Her heart pounded hard against her ribcage as she fled. Her footsteps rang loud on the lone path. Not a soul was in sight to help her out of this danger.

She felt hot tears running down her face. Her lungs burned from being forced to breathe so hard

However, she dared not stop for a second or the bad men would catch up with her.

The cold night wind whipped her hair around her face, it made it even harder for her to see. Her leg connected with a stone and almost immediately her ankle snapped as she fell to the rough earth groaning.

Intense pain racked her ankle and more tears blurred her vision. The sounds of footsteps were closer now. She turned back to see the masked men in dark hoods finally reach her.

“Please don’t hurt me. Please, I'm sorry. I’ll do whatever you want I promise-” She started begging.

"Is she the one?" One of the rogues asked in a harsh baritone voice as he sized her up.

"Yes." His partner nodded, reaching to pull her by the hair.

"Let me go! " Jasmine struggled with the rogues who had laid an ambush on her.

"By the time we are done with her, her brother will learn never to piss us off again."

"You won't get anything from my brother this way. In fact, you will be doing him good, by taking me away." She tugged at his strong grip on her wrist.

No one would understand that her brothers just like her stepmother loathed her ever since she came to live with them. Although it wasn't her fault, she spent every minute in agony.

"Please I beg you, let me go." She begged.

Her voice trembled in fear as one of the men carried her on his shoulders.

"Somebody help! Somebody help!" She screamed at the top of her voice and flailed her arms in midair.

Jasmine clawed at his shoulders trying to escape.

The man smacked her on her back and she let out a yelp. Tears sprang up in her eyes immediately.

If only her stepmother, Medusa hadn't chosen to send her out by this time of the night.

Her father, like always, didn't say a word in her favor. Instead, he looked away and acted like he didn't hear. They never wanted her so this would be a perfect time to get rid of her.

Why did fate have to be so cruel? Was it her fault that she was a byblow? Her father had gotten her mother pregnant at a young age leaving her to care for her.

Death struck when she was five years old and she came to live with her father who never failed to remind her that she was the worst mistake of his life.

"Tell me what you want. I will give you all I have saved in my piggy bank." She tried to bargain with them.

The other short bulky fellow erupted into a peal of deep harsh laughter shaking his head. Her mind raced. Or had he known that all she had were just two coins? Definitely, he couldn't.

"Young lady, until your brother pays us all he owes, you will work as our slave in Night Walker Pack." He growled.

Jasmine let out a soft gasp. They were taking her away from the Pack to the enemy's territory. She remembered the woeful tales of slaves who tried to escape their Pack. She was in trouble.

Dylan Dominican strode down the dark path illuminated by the crescent moon in the sky. He slung a black duffel over his shoulders and he was lost in thought.

Why was he suddenly called home? He just had one more session to complete his college education in the human world. If Brandon, his best friend, hadn't begged him and said it was urgent, he wouldn't have come.

Not since he had cut ties with his father after calling him an incapable heir. Those words remained etched in his memory even after three years. For that reason, he had worked so hard to become a man of his own.

It was now or never. Summoning all her strength, Jasmine's knees connected with the man's crotch. He cried out in pain, released her, and staggered backward.

"Are you okay?" His partner asked him.

"Get your hands off me and get that bitch!" Her captor shrieked holding his crotch.

Jasmine scrambled away, dragging herself on the floor. She held a tree stump for support and managed to stand on her feet. Jasmine limped away praying someone would come to her aid.

If no one did, she was as good as dead. Life in the NightWalker Pack would be miserable for her. What had Levi done to these men? Was it Levi or Brian?

Dylan paused in his tracks, squinting his eyes at the dark path. He could hear someone whimpering in the distance. He frowned trying to process what was going on.

"Somebody help! I am in danger."

Dylan took fast strides toward the left path. Who was that? His protective instinct pushed other thoughts away and then he was getting closer because now he could hear her voice vividly.

"Please help me."

Jasmine limped with all her strength trying to outrun the dwarf who ran after her with speed.

Why did Medusa need her monthly contribution tonight?

Her body was weak and her breaths were now frail. She was sapped of energy. Then she saw a silhouette frame approach her just as one of the rogues grabbed her by the neck.

Jasmine tugged at his hand beating hard when she landed on the floor with a plop. She wheezed trying to make her words coherent for the stranger to hear.

"Pl-Pl-Please he-help me."

He tightened his hold on her neck and gritted his teeth in rage. Fury surged in his veins as he raised his left hand to smack her for what she did to him.

"Don't you dare!" Dylan commanded in a strong baritone voice.
