The cleaning room was quiet, too quiet, but my chest was loud—too loud. I pressed my hand against it, fingers curled tight over the thump-thump-thump that wouldn’t settle.

Not fear. Not panic. Just... irritation.

Yeah. That had to be it.

I wasn’t scared.

I’ve faced worse. Bloodier. Deadlier.

It wasn’t Alpha Hayden that made my breath catch like that when the door creaked open. It wasn’t his voice I braced myself to hear.

It was Marcus.

And my first thought?

Shit, I’ve been caught. The whole plan—every subtle move, every small manipulation—might’ve just gone to waste if someone saw me with that folder.

That’s the only reason my heart’s acting up. Obviously.

It’s not him.

It’s never about him.

…But then the stupid scene from earlier popped into my head.

Marcus, kneeling like some royal idiot, smearing cream on my hands like we were in some weird healer-romance drama. His face was all focused, too serious for a guy who couldn’t even sit through one lesson without doodling on the table. L

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   The First Love of Marcus' First Love

"The fourth of July," Anna said, tapping her finger on the counter for emphasis. “Every single year. Like clockwork. She disappears on that day and never tells anyone where she goes. Not once.”Marcus’s brows furrowed deeper, his chest tightening. The Fourth of July…Jake chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck. “We used to bet on it. Like—‘is Laura gonna vanish again this year?’ And yeah, she always does. She’s predictable like that. But this time…” His expression shifted to mild concern. “This time, she left early. That’s the weird part.”Howard, who’d been quietly observing, raised a brow. “Wait, wait, wait—so you’re telling us she has a yearly… what? Mystery vacation?”Howard, who’d been quietly observing, raised a brow. “Wait, wait, wait—so you’re telling us she has a yearly… what? Mystery vacation?”Anna glanced at Jake, and Jake only scrunched his nose before muttering, “Nope. I’m not getting involved in this,” and walked away toward the back of the bar.Anna hesita

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   4th of July

Marcus stormed out of the pack house, his footsteps pounding against the ground like thunder. His chest burned—not from anger, but from the wild, relentless need to find her.“Damn it, Raine,” he muttered under his breath, jaw clenched. “Where the hell are you?”From the upper balcony of the Alpha’s quarters, Luna Seraphina stood by the window. Her hand rested lightly against the curtain as she watched her son’s figure disappear into the darkness.“He’s going out again,” she murmured, voice tinged with exhaustion.Behind her, Alpha Eldridge sat in his chair, silent and brooding, a glass of whiskey in his hand. He didn’t move.Seraphina turned to him, her expression a mixture of worry and resignation. “You could stop him, you know.”The Alpha took a slow sip of his drink, his jaw ticking. “If I chain him here, he’ll only hate me for it.”Seraphina exhaled loudly, the sound almost a sigh of defeat. “He already defied you in front of the entire pack. And now he’s running out in the middl

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   He Dares Because He Can

Marcus dragged himself up the stone steps of the pack house, damp from the night air and exhausted from searching every inch of the territory. His heart still hammered in his chest, but it wasn’t from running—it was from not finding her.And then he saw them. His parents.Waiting at the gate like a tribunal. His father stood with his hands clasped behind his back, expression cold and unreadable. His mother’s arms were folded tight, disappointment radiating off her like a second moon. Sebastian leaned casually against a pillar, looking bored out of his mind, while Penelope—of course—wore the smuggest grin in existence.“Marcus,” his mother snapped first, her voice sharp enough to cut. “What the hell were you thinking?!”Penelope stepped forward, heels clicking like she owned the place, and glared at him. “You just stormed out of the pack’s anniversary ceremony like a child throwing a tantrum. Do you even realize how embarrassing—”Marcus didn’t even look at her. “Not now, Penelope.”He

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   The Searching

Marcus stood in the middle of the training grounds, his expression sharp and restless. Warriors moved quickly under his command, fanning out into every corner of the pack’s territory.“Check the eastern perimeter!” he barked. “And someone search near the forest line again—don’t stop until you find her!”“Yes, Young Master!” the warriors chorused before scattering.Howard lingered nearby, arms crossed. “Marcus, relax. She’s probably just—”“She’s not just anything, Howard!” Marcus snapped, running a frustrated hand through his hair. “She wouldn’t just vanish like this. Not without a reason.”Before Howard could answer, a familiar voice cut sharply through the air.“Marcus!”Marcus turned to see Sebastian striding toward him, his usual calm expression cracking with irritation. “Where the hell have you been? Mother’s been searching for you. The ceremony starts in fifteen minutes!”Marcus glared at him. “I don’t give a damn about the ceremony right now. Raine’s missing!”Sebastian blinked

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   Marcus: The Missing Maid

Marcus adjusted the lapels of his tux, tilting his head left and right as he studied his reflection in the mirror. The fabric caught the light perfectly, and the smug grin stretching across his face only grew wider.“Marcus,” he said to himself, his voice dripping with mock admiration, “you are so damn handsome. Honestly, it’s a crime. They should fine you for looking this good.”He smoothed back his hair, then leaned closer, winking at his reflection. “No wonder they can’t resist you. If I were me, I’d date me too.”He turned slightly, checking his profile, and gave himself a dramatic finger-gun gesture. “Future Alpha material, right here. Sebastian might have the boring stoic act down, but I? I’ve got charisma. I’ve got style. I’ve got—” He paused, flexing one arm just to admire the shape. “—perfection.”From the corner of the room, Howard, his Beta—leaning against the doorframe—groaned loudly. “Moon save us. If you stare at yourself any harder, you’re gonna leave bite marks on the

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   Laura's Glow Down

The next morning, I slipped back into my routine as if nothing had happened. The sun was barely up, the halls quiet except for the soft shuffle of feet and clinking of dishes. I moved through the mansion with practiced precision—folding linens, polishing the silver, and checking every corner like I’d done a hundred times before. Some of the maids watched me, whispering behind their hands.“Look at her… walking around like nothing happened.”“Maybe it’s true what they say—Sebastian really went after her.”“Or maybe she’s just good at pretending.”I didn’t bother looking their way. Let them talk. Their words couldn’t touch me, not when I’d spent years learning how to wear silence like armor.I tied the apron around my waist tighter and focused on my work—dusting the shelves, scrubbing the counters, resetting the rooms. Every motion was deliberate, mechanical. It was easier this way.Because as long as I kept moving, I didn’t have to think about the night before. I didn’t have to think a
