Penelope’s room smelled like expensive perfume and sour tension.

The door hadn’t even closed behind me when she looked up, lounging at the edge of her bed like a queen in exile—dressed in tight combat gear that looked like it had never seen an actual fight. Her eyes scanned me like I’d just tracked dirt onto her favorite rug.

“Ah. Finally.” she drawled, twirling a short stick in her manicured fingers. “You took your time.”

I didn’t reply.

No need to rise to the bait.

The maids—three of them—were just finishing laying down padded mats in the middle of the floor. They moved quietly, eyes downcast, too used to Penelope’s moods to engage. When they were done, one gave me a brief, apologetic glance before backing out the door with the rest.

Silence fell.

Penelope smirked, standing up with deliberate flair. She tossed something at me.

I caught it instinctively.

Two arnis sticks. Smooth. Solid.

My eyes narrowed slightly. “You called me here… for a spar?”

She tilted her head innocently. “Don’

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   The First Step of Treason

We walked side by side down the hallway.Like nothing happened.Like he hadn’t just kissed me like he was trying to carve his name into my bones. His hands were in his pockets, whistling like he didn’t just detonate a bomb between us. Meanwhile, I was forcing myself to breathe evenly and not glance at him every two seconds like a hormonal teenager. The hallway felt longer than usual. Or maybe it was just the silence stretching tight between us.“So,” he said finally, glancing sideways at me. “That kiss was… efficient.”I gave him a bland look. “Efficient?”“You know. Practical. Straight to the point.” He nodded sagely. “Very professional of us.”“Right. Super professional,” I echoed dryly. He grinned. “Should we file a report about it? Log it in the ‘maid and master’ handbook? Page forty-two: in case of emotional emergency, lock lips.”“Don’t make me hit you.”“You’re blushing.”“I’m not.”“Your ears are red.”I stopped walking. He took two steps before noticing, then turned to face m

Marcus had slumped into the nearest chair like someone had just told him the world was ending.Arms crossed. Legs stretched out. Lower lip almost pouting. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he looked like a five-year-old who just got told he couldn’t have dessert.I resisted the urge to laugh.Barely.He was quiet now, like all that storm and bluster had drained out of him the moment those words escaped his mouth.I’m the one who’s supposed to take you.He hadn’t looked at me since.I turned away, gathering the now-wrinkled pile of clothes I’d dropped in the middle of our argument. My fingers moved automatically, but my thoughts weren’t on the fabric. They were on him.On that ridiculous outburst. On his ridiculous face.On the ridiculous way it made something shift inside me.Marcus was… complicated.Spoiled. Petty. Loud. Impossible. And yet, somehow—somehow—he was the only one lately who made me feel like I wasn’t invisible.Like I wasn’t a weapon.Or a threat.I sighed under my breat

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   One Invitation, Two Alphas

The plates clinked softly as I stacked them, steam still curling from half-eaten bowls of stew and untouched desserts. The maids chatted nearby, wiping down counters and giggling over something that, frankly, I was too distracted to catch.Until I did.“Oh my Goddess, wouldn’t it be so romantic if we could go to the anniversary ball?” one of them sighed dreamily. “Imagine wearing a gown that doesn’t smell like potatoes.”“I just want to see it,” another whispered. “Even from the hallway. They say the Alphas from other packs are coming. And the garden’s going to be lit up with floating lanterns this year!”“And dates!” the third one chimed in with a hopeless swoon. “Imagine someone actually asking us.”Their voices faded behind the sound of running water and clinking cutlery, but the idea lingered in the air like the scent of sugared tea.I didn’t care about floating lanterns.Or dancing.Or dates.I wasn’t here for that. And yet…My hands moved on autopilot, scrubbing dishes, stacking

The room was spotless.White walls. Polished marble floors. Glass chandeliers that didn’t flicker. Everything shone with sterile perfection, like a clinic or a palace frozen in time. But no matter how bright the lights were, nothing could mask the quiet tension threading through the air.Joven knelt on one knee, head bowed so low his forehead nearly touched the cold stone floor. Around him, his men remained silent—bruised, trembling, some still clutching fresh wounds. None of them dared speak. The man seated above them did not rise.He didn’t need to.His presence alone curled through the shadows like smoke—slow, suffocating. The room, though vast, felt too small to contain the rage crackling in the air."Stupid bunch of idiots!" the man snarled, voice sharp enough to flay skin. "She’s just a woman! A woman—and yet you cannot bring her down?!”Joven flinched. “My Lord, please—she’s not—she’s not normal.”A pause.A deadly pause.“I know she’s not normal, you absolute waste of blood,”

  • Alpha Enemy, Lover Mine   Not Yours, Brother

I stared at Sebastian.No. I glared.Because I knew that look in his eyes. The calculated calm. The way his words always dripped with ten meanings—and never the one you hoped he meant. He was still looking at her.At Raine.“After all,” he said smoothly, gaze flicking from her to me and back again, “I’ve sacrificed a lot for someone. Maybe it’s their time to pay me back.”It wasn’t a threat. It wasn’t even jealousy. It was ownership. And it made something curl in my chest—tight and hot and primal.Laura didn’t flinch. Not outwardly. But I saw her spine straighten, her jaw twitch ever so slightly. The kind of microexpression you wouldn’t catch unless you wanted to.Which I did.Because I watch her now.Every damn second.Sebastian turned and left after that, like he’d just dropped a casual comment about the weather and not set the entire room on fire.Penelope looked like she was trying to figure out whether to scream, cry, or fake-faint for attention. And Raine…Raine was doing what s
