Unrequited Love's Pursuit

If Nora were the Lady Striling, he would show her the truth. He had been in love with her for so long, he had gone after her to ask her out, then he followed her, but she…she was gone. He had tried so hard to find her; she had read his letters, but she probably thought he was made to send them to clear himself from guilt. It was he trying to reach her without asking her out on paper. It didn’t feel right. Could fate have been bringing them together?

Otto slipped his hand into his pocket, fingers brushing against the edges of the book she’d signed. The realisation crashed through him like a tidal wave. Everything made sense now: her disappearance, the mysterious author persona, the arrangement that his father had been so smug about.

He made his way through the crowded ballroom, nodding at former classmates who called his name, but his mind remained fixed on Nora. She had transformed herself from the shy girl he’d known into someone powerful in her own right. Not just an Alpha’s daughter, but a successful author whose words touched thousands.

A bitter laugh escaped him. He’d spent five years searching for her, only to discover she’d been hiding in plain sight all along. Crystal_Lotus—the pen name that had appeared on bestseller lists across the country. How many times had he walked past her books in stores without making the connection?

“Otto! Time for your speech,” called the reunion coordinator, a beta wolf he vaguely remembered from student council.

He nodded, moving toward the small stage at the front of the room. As he stepped up to the microphone, his gaze swept across the sea of familiar faces. No sign of Nora yet. She’d said she would join later.

Otto cleared his throat. “It’s good to see everyone again after five years,” he began, falling into the practised cadence of public speaking his father had drilled into him. “Silver Moon High gave us all a foundation to build upon...”

The words felt hollow as they left his mouth. All he could think about was Nora, the way her scent had hit him like a physical blow, the slight tremor in her hand as she’d signed his book, the cool dismissal in her tone when she’d spoken to him.

He stumbled through the rest of his speech, barely registering the polite applause that followed. As he stepped down from the stage, his friends surrounded him with backslaps and congratulations.

“Nice job, man,” Luke said, pressing a drink into his hand. “Though you seemed a bit distracted up there.”

Otto took a long swallow of the whiskey, welcoming the burn. “Just thinking about how much has changed since graduation.”

“Speaking of changes,” another friend said, nodding toward the entrance, “check out who just walked in.”

Otto’s head snapped up, and the room seemed to still around him. Nora stood in the doorway, transformed from the focused author to a vision in emerald. Her honey-brown hair was styled in loose waves that framed her face, and she carried herself with quiet confidence that commanded attention without seeking it.

Several classmates approached her immediately, expressions of surprise and delight evident as they realised who she was. Otto remained rooted to the spot, watching as she smiled and chatted, graciously accepting hugs from those who had been kind to her in school.

“Holy shit,” Luke breathed beside him. “Is that—“

“Nora,” Otto confirmed, his voice rough. “Nora Stirling, the one you guys were teasing me about in the car.”

Nora made her way around the crowd, forming some of them, buzzing after realising who she really was, and she was across the hall only moments ago. She made her way to the stage, and it was her turn.

“Hello everyone there seems to be a strange rumor floating around that I might have been died, no I’m not and no I’m not a Ghost I’m the nerd girl you all knew as Nora Stirling, but it seems others already know where I disappeared to I’m also known as Crystal_Lotus, yes for those who might be a tad slow the author from across the hall,” Nora stated matter-of-factly.

A low murmur rippled through the crowd as Nora’s words settled over the room. Some people gasped, others whispered behind their hands. Otto watched their former classmates’ expressions shift from shock to awe as they processed who had been sitting across the hall from them.

“As many of you know,” Nora continued, her voice steady despite the nervous tap of her finger against the microphone, “I was always more comfortable in the shadows than the spotlight. That hasn’t changed much, though I’ve found my voice through writing.”

Otto couldn’t tear his gaze away from her. The confidence in her posture, the slight lift of her chin, this wasn’t the same girl who had hunched over textbooks in the library. Yet something in her eyes remained unchanged, that quiet intelligence that had always drawn him to her, even when he’d been too foolish to admit it.

“Most of you probably didn’t notice when I left Silver Moon High,” she said with a small smile. “I transferred to finish my senior year elsewhere, started writing, and well...” She gestured toward the conference room where her signing had taken place. “Here we are.”

The weight of the book in Otto’s pocket seemed to grow heavier. Here they were indeed, five years later, with an arranged mating between them that she clearly knew about and he had only just begun to suspect.

Luke elbowed him in the ribs. “Dude, the nerd girl is Crystal_Lotus? That’s insane!”

Otto shot him a warning glare, and Luke raised his hands in surrender.

“Anyway,” Nora concluded, “it’s interesting to see how paths diverge and sometimes reconnect. Enjoy your evening.”

She stepped down from the stage to enthusiastic applause. Several former classmates, mostly those who had never paid her any attention in school, rushed forward to speak with her. Otto noticed how she maintained a polite distance, her smile never quite reaching her eyes.

He downed the rest of his whiskey, the burn doing nothing to calm the storm brewing inside him. Five years of regret and searching, and she had been building a life without him. A successful one, at that. What right did he have to disrupt it now?

But the arrangement... if she was indeed Lady Stirling, then fate had thrown them together again for a reason.

“I need to talk to her,” Otto muttered, more to himself than to Luke.

“Good luck with that.” Luke nodded toward the growing crowd surrounding Nora. “Half the school wants a piece of the famous author now.”

Otto set his empty glass down with more force than necessary. “I’ll wait.”

He positioned himself near the bar, watching as Nora navigated the social minefield with grace. She fielded questions about her books, deflected inquiries about her personal life, and somehow managed to keep moving through the room without getting cornered by any one group.

Their eyes met briefly across the crowded space. Otto felt the jolt down to his bones, recognition, awareness, something he wasn’t too sure what to make of it.

The restaurant hummed with quiet conversation, the soft clink of silverware against fine china creating a gentle backdrop as Otto followed the host through the dimly lit space. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow over polished wood and plush leather seating. The scents of seared meat and rich wine filled the air, but Otto barely registered them, too focused on what lay ahead."Will your guest be arriving shortly?" the maître d' asked as he showed Otto to a secluded booth nestled against the back wall."Yes, within the next fifteen minutes or so," Otto replied, sliding into the booth. The high, curved walls provided privacy while still allowing him to see the entrance. Perfect for watching Nora arrive without being immediately spotted."Excellent. Your server will be with you momentarily. Would you care for a drink while you wait?"Otto ordered a whiskey, neat, liquid courage for the conversation ahead. A

  • Alpha Heir Otto's Arranged 'Nerd' Luna   Fated Connections

Otto hesitated, considering how much to reveal. "Something like that."The weight of Noah's message still pressed on his mind. A muted fated mate bond. It explained so much, the lingering connection he'd felt to Nora despite years apart, the way her scent had hit him like a physical blow at the reunion."Look," Luke said, his voice dropping so the others couldn't hear. "About what I said regarding Nora, or Crystal, whatever she goes by now, I was out of line. If she's important to you...""She is," Otto said simply, shouldering his gym bag. The admission felt both terrifying and freeing.Luke nodded, something like understanding crossing his features. "Then I'll do better. We all will."Otto studied his friend's face, searching for any hint of the mockery that had been there last night. Finding none, he gave a short nod. "I appreciate that."As they walked back toward the pack house, Otto's p

His phone chimed from an unknown number: Good to see you worked out who my sister is and I did stop her from getting your letters for one reason for her to have time to grow into her own nothing more, it was my idea to bring you two together because the men in her stories always had a guy that was hard to miss they had a bit of you in them so it made sence that you were likely fated mates but with a muted contection. You're welcome.Otto stared at the phone screen, reading the message three times before the words fully registered. Noah Stirling. Nora's brother. The Alpha Heir who had intercepted his letters. His thumb hovered over the reply button as a storm of emotions crashed through him. Relief that Noah hadn't kept them apart out of malice. Anger that the man had made that decision without consulting either of them. Confusion about what "muted connection" meant regarding fated mates. And beneath it all, a flickering hope

  • Alpha Heir Otto's Arranged 'Nerd' Luna   Crystal Lotus Secrets

Once inside his suite, Otto closed the door and leaned against it, exhaling slowly. The moonlight streamed through his windows, bathing the room in silver. He pulled Nora's business card from his pocket, running his thumb over the embossed lotus.Crystal_Lotus. The name suited her, beautiful yet strong, rare and precious. And soon she would be joining him at his pack, the shared living room between his suite and the Luna suite, which she soon would be moving into, for him to court her properly. The thought of her moving in so close to him sent a rush of heat through his body. Otto loosened his tie and tossed it onto the dresser, trying to process everything that had happened tonight. Five years of searching, of regret, and now Nora would be just on the other side of a shared living space. Close enough to catch her scent every day, yet still separated by walls and the weight of their complicated past.He crossed to the large windows overlooking the forest that surrounded the pack house

Luke and Marcus exchanged glances, visibly processing Otto's words. The tension in the SUV remained thick enough to cut with a knife."So you're saying there's a chance this Nora isn't the Lady Stirling?" Luke asked, his voice unusually subdued.Otto sighed, rubbing his temples where a headache was beginning to form. He didn't want to lie outright to his friends, but he couldn't betray Nora's confidence either. The weight of her business card pressed against his thigh through his pocket, a tangible reminder of their connection."What I'm saying is that regardless of who Lady Stirling turns out to be, our pack needs to make a good impression at the birthday celebration. The Moonlit Falls alliance is too important to jeopardise with immature behaviour."The car fell silent again. Otto turned back to the window, watching the familiar landmarks of their territory slip past. The moon hung heavy in the sky, nearly full, calling to his wolf. His tattoo seemed to burn beneath his sleeve, the

Now, as he moved to one of the passenger seats and the driver returned to the driver's seat, his friends started to file out of the Club one by one.Luke was the first to approach, his eyes narrowed as he took in Otto's rigid posture."Hey, you just disappeared after talking to the book nerd," he said, sliding into the seat across from Otto. "What's going on with you tonight?"Otto's jaw tightened at the dismissive term. Five years ago, he might have laughed along. Now, the casual disrespect made something protective flare in his chest."Her name is Nora," he said, keeping his voice even. "And she's accomplished more in five years than most of us will in a lifetime."Luke raised his eyebrows, exchanging glances with the others as they climbed into the vehicle. "Whoa, when did you become her biggest fan? Last I checked, you were dreading seeing her again."The memory of their earlier conversation in the car made Otto's stomach twist. How quickly things had changed in just a few hours.
