We arrived in front of the school gates earlier than I had expected. Dad really had to ask that question right before he stops the car at my school. Even from afar, I could feel the students gawking at us.

I curl my fists on my lap and nervously look out the window, hyper aware of Dad's narrowing gaze on the side of my head.

Words lodged in my throat, and I'm not quite sure if telling him was the right thing to do at this point.

"Ava?" Dad's voice came with a warning, making me snap my eyes at him in shock.
