"Nothing happened, Dad. I promise," I explain, chomping down my lower lip as we sauntered into the hallway and into an empty room.

Well, at least nothing too extreme.

Closing the door behind him, he narrowed his gaze at me before crossing his arms and leaning against the wall.

His jaw twitched. "I expected more out of you, Ava.." he said, shaking his head.

I clenched my teeth, looking down at my feet in embarrassment.
