18. Berated
My pride at being able to find a solution and be a responsible luna, if not for real, but in pretence and being able to gain everyone’s praise was short-lived. Marcus and James were conversing as we got out of the car. They sounded nervous and spoke so softly that it was difficult for me to decipher. I decided to ignore it. Since it was already evening and I was dying to go back to bed and have some food in my stomach. The nerve-wracking day had taken away my appetite and now that the meeting was over, I felt famished.
