Chapter 23

Chapter twenty three: giving in to the flames

Karen walked into the room, her head hung low and her entire posture demure. Her long hair draped down her body in waves of spun gold. She was dressed in a long white nightdress.

Kai felt a spark of lust just by staring at her.

"Verena," he said. Verena turned to him, an expectant look on her face, "leave us."

"My alpha," She said softly.

"Do not make me repeat myself." Kai said sternly.

Verena huffed. She stormed out of the suite, intentionally bumping her shoulder into Karen on the way out.

"What is it?" Kai asked Karen.

She sniffed and wiped her eyes. "I..."

"Look at me when I'm talking to you."

She slowly raised her head. Kai felt his heart thud again.

Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes hazy and teary. Her lips were red from how many times she had bit it. She looked so.... innocent. Her hands gripped her nightgown, fisting it tightly. Kai could see her squirming, rubbing her thighs together.
