A loud Snarl sounded throughout the ceremony grounds. It took me a moment to realize it was coming from Kai. Before I could even think about what had just happened, Kassius had tackled Kai to the ground. A large crowd began to gather around, many shouting cheers for whoever they wanted to win the fight. I looked around and noticed many of our pack members were in absolute shock. Some of them were staring at me as if I had planned this purposely. A lump swelled in my throat as I watched the scene unfold.
Kai flipped Kassius off of him quickly standing. In a flash Kassius was barreling towards Kai again. I could see the pure rage flashing in his eyes and felt my stomach twist at the thought. Kassius jumped towards Kai, Kai caught him in mid air bringing him down and slamming him against a tree.
“Think about this Kass, I don't
Sorry for the long delay, I had to take some time for family reasons. I plan to begin updating regularly again. I am so excited to see how quickly the love for this book has grown. I hope you all love reading it as much as I loved writing it.
I was young when my parents died. Only 9 at the time. They died fighting in the pack war. The same one that killed our last Alpha. Our pack eventually won the war but at great cost. We lost almost half of our warriors during the war. My name is Fallon Thomas, I am part of the Crescent Falls pack of Oregon. After the war we absorbed the Blood Moon pack, making our pack now the largest in the country. My uncle Laurence had taken me in after my parents passed at the request of our Luna. She had taken over the pack for her son as he was not yet old enough to take over as Alpha. It was unconventional sure, but our Luna was a strong woman and no one would dare question her. The future Alpha, Kai, was my age. Exactly my age, we shared a birthday. When we were young we would even share birthday parties due to the fact that my father had been the Beta of the pack. Our parents had b
The mating ceremony was mandatory for all unmated wolves between the ages of 18 and 22. Every pack in the country sent their young wolves to the ceremony. I still had one year before I was able to go but at least I would know what to expect after Santana goes this year. This will be Xander’s second year at the ceremony but the process is different for men. Men did the choosing and if they chose not to take a mate then they left and came back the next year. Women, on the other hand, could not turn down a mate that chose them. If there were multiple men who chose the same woman they would traditionally fight for her, although nowadays women were able to choose which one of the men they wanted to be their mate. The only time it came to fight now is when one of the male wolves refused to accept the females choice.Xander had
I rushed to get my chores done within the next hour before my meeting with Kai. Once I finished I went upstairs and knocked on the office door. My stomach was in knots a mix of nerves and butterflies. Even though Kai and I had been close years ago the prospect of working with him to plan one of the most important ceremonies a pack could hold made me feel like I wanted to vomit. Kai wasn't the same six year old boy I used to play basketball with or the one who used to give me a new elephant figurine for my birthday each year because he knew it was my favorite animal. He had grown up, we both had. I didn't know this Kai and I was terrified he may have become much more demanding of his employees than I remember.“Come in.” He called out flatly. I entered the room and noticed he was on the phone. He held up one finger to let me know to give h
“Are you ready? We are going to a party at Jasmine’s house.” he opened the door and led me out.He led me to his car and opened the door for me before going around to get in himself. “I hope you are ok with the party.” he said. “I had promised to make an appearance and I thought you may enjoy it since I don't think I have ever seen you at a single one of the parties I have ever gone to.”“The party is a great idea, you are right I don't get out a lot.” I assured him.“Well I plan to change that kitten.” he game me that cocky smirk that made my heart flutterWe arrived at the party and again he opened the door of the car for me and held out his hand to assist me in getting out of the car. I couldn't b
Kassius and I spent the entire weekend together. My uncle spent his weekends at bars or passed out so he never noticed I wasn't home. Kassius showed me some of his favorite hangout spots. There was a small pool hall just outside of town that he loved. He took me there one night. It was run by one of the older pack members so they allowed us to have drinks even though we were under age. Kassius was somewhat of a pool shark and enjoyed playing. I, on the other hand, had never once played and he decided it was time that I learn. The pool hall was pretty quiet when we got there. The building was very old and run down looking. The inside was dark, there was a small bar on one side with about six barstools. There were several booths lining the walls. All the walls were painted a dark green and were covered in photos and vintage metal signs. The back of the place had several pinball machines and
The next day at school things were completely different than what I was used to. Kassius picked me up that morning to ride to school together. We walked into school together, his arm around me and carrying my books with his free hand. Every step we took caused more heads to turn and more eyes landing on us. Most people had heard Kassius’ declaration that I belonged to him at the party however most assumed it was the alcohol talking or just his way of getting in my pants. None of them expected to see us still together today.Kassius walked me to my first class holding my hand, we stopped just outside of the door and he placed a long kiss on my lips. I could feel my cheeks redden as I was not used to such public displays and I knew without a doubt that everyone was watching us.
I stormed past Kai knocking my shoulder into his as I passed. I found Kassius in his car, the car was running and he was staring straight at me as if he had been waiting for me to follow. I got in the car on the passenger side and he put the car into gear without another word. He pulled into my driveway and placed the car in park. He turned to face me taking my hand in his. His dark eyes softened when they locked on mine.‘I know what Kai said to you on your way out today. He has said it to me several times as well. I want you to know I will not let him take you away from me. We belong together. Beta or not you will always come first for me. I hope you realize that.” Kassius told me. My heart was ready to burst at the sincerity in his voice. We had not been dating for very long but what we had was intense and real. I was sure this was the man I would end up mated to.
The next morning I woke up early hoping to grab a bite to eat and make my way to school before Kai realized I had gone. My plan was to avoid him as much as possible for the next year. I was grateful he had provided me a place to stay and welcomed me as a part of his family, however I knew it was also his way of controlling my relationship with Kassius and that only proved to make me angry all over again.I threw on my school uniform and made my way to the kitchen. If the cook had not made breakfast yet I would just grab some fruit and head out. I didn’t have time to wait around. As I rounded the corner towards the kitchen I could hear bacon frying and pots and pans being moved. My stomach started to rumble. I guess I was hungrier than I thought, I told myself. Good thing the Alpha’s cook starts early. I stopped dead in my tracks when I finally entered the kitchen.
