I killed Nikolai; I murdered the youngest Volkov, and as I stand in front of his burning pyre, this is all that runs through my head. No one blames me. Of course, they wouldn’t, but whenever I close my eyes, I can see Nikolai’s face looking up at me with pleading eyes as I tear him in two.
