Louise POV
Finally, Kate has called me to visit. I was getting worried after our latest interactions but now that she’s called me to invite me over, I’m confident things are going my way. I got a hold of Drake right away and he agreed to go with me to see Kate.
As we walk into the Pack house, I could sense a bit of tension around the building. As I went to Kate’s office her assistant told me that she was expecting me in the conference room. Odd, I thought we’d have had a more personal discussion. I was even more flabbergasted when I walk in and see Beta Reid and Gamma John sitting there.
A feeling of unease goes down my back. I don’t trust the two men. I am confident I can pull the wool o

Kate POV Alpha Corey had arrived early morning the day of the Summer Ball, so Beta Reid and I met with him and his Beta. We explained what had been happening with Louise and to say he was outraged would be an understatement. He actually filled in a lot of blanks for us, to which I had a sick feeling in my stomach. It was enough to have to consider but the worst part was having to tell Drake the truth. And when were we going to tell him or even confront Louise and Boyd. We didn’t want to ruin the Summer Ball for everyone, and we were comfortable with the security levels we had in place. Our main concern was dealing with Louise and Boyd when the time was right. Looking at my watch I see its just noon. Knowing there would be Alph
Kate POV As we are getting our finishing touches on hair and make-up, we look at each other and laugh. Our hair looks amazing, our make-up spectacular. Now all we need to do it get dressed and prepare to head over to the convention centre to kick off the Summer Ball. The doors wont open until we arrive and are ready to welcome everyone. As Lily gets help putting on her dress, I get help putting mine on. It had been a month since I had looked at my dress and I loved seeing it again. I fell in love with it all over again. As is my trademark, it seems, I went with an emerald green dress in a tight-fitting dress that flared out from the knees down to my ankles. Mine was a V-neck in the front and a matching V in the back to just above my bra. It had gold bead accents on the bottom ab
Kate POV I hear Boyd yell “NO!” as I am being held in my mate’s arms. Having been caught off guard my mate helps me up, so I am standing once again and sadly not still in his arms. I miss his arms and the sparks that were bouncing between us. Shelby is bouncing around in my head, excited we have found our mate. But I have to deal with Boyd. He just tried to mark an unmated female who wasn’t his mate. I turn to Beta Reid and Gamma John and ask them to ensure Boyd gets to the holding cells immediately. Boyd interrupts, “You are making a big mistake Kate, there will be a big rogue attack shortly, if I am not able to call them off,” he says. “Make sure he is heavily guarded and has no visitors,” I add. Beta Reid mind-links me assuring me th
Lily POV As the evening progressed, I was asked to dance by one of my friends. I had dated him a couple years back, but now we were just really good friends. Neither of us had found our mates yet. He was a year older than me; I was 20; he was 21. As we were dancing, I started to smell this amazing cinnamon smell with a twist of oak to it. As I started to turn around a man, came up to me and muttered Mate at the same time I did. As my dance partner turned to look, the man yanked my arm pulling me off the dance floor. It was only as he was tugging me along, I noticed a female attached to his other arm. What the hell was going on? I was feeling my anxiety flare as I tried to calm myself down. This man couldn’t be my mate. There had to be a mistake.
Kate POV After stopping to check on Lily, I find her asleep in her room. She was still in her dress, so I helped her change before letting her go back to sleep. Turning off the lights, I made my way back to the lobby where I had left Colby. As I got back to the lobby, he stood smiling and taking my hand again. The sparks were delicious. As we stand there for a moment, I turn, and he follows me off to my suite. I realize it’s bold of me to take him to my room, but I want to have some private time with him. I want to enjoy these moments before we have to be complete adults and decide what the future can look like for us. Plus, we have to deal with Boyd and Louise tomorrow on top of Lily’s situation. For tonight, I
Kate POV Starting to wake up, I feel a warm arm wrapped around my body. Smiling I reach my hand back and feel a very male body attached to that warm arm. Realizing he is also slowly waking up I feel him pull me closer into his body, which is already on alert. I am deliciously sore from our night of passion. I can’t imagine what the future holds for us. Enjoying him kissing my neck as we slowly stretch, I roll over, so I am facing Colby. I raise my hand to his cheek and lean forward to softly kiss him. I love everything about this man. He isn’t rushed in anything he does. I feel like the most important person in the world to him. As we just lay there, his hand slides down to my hip and he pulls me closer to
Louise POV Tears fill my eyes. I know I’m losing Drake but have to wonder if I don’t deserve to lose him. “I’m sorry,” I start when he turns to leave, “I don’t want to hear it Louise,” he says. “Drake wait!”, he turns to look at me. “Just give me a minute to explain,” I ask. “He stands against the wall at the doorway, his arms crossed in front of his chest. I pause for a moment looking down. As much as I put all this in motion, it kills me to have hurt him. “I didn’t mean for this to happen,” I start. “Well, why don’t you start with when did Boyd come into your life, Louise?” Drake asks. He stares at me, a
Kate POV “What do you mean, which sister?” I ask. Boyd has a funny look on his face and starts to laugh. “What do you mean, which sister Boyd?” I ask as I slam my hands down on the table putting a crack in it. “Temper, temper, Kate,” Boyd taunts. “You want my help, you give me immunity,” he says. “No,” I reply coldly. “Then it seems we are at an impasse, Kate,” Boyd sits back cockily. “You see Boyd, I don’t think you have the upper hand you think you do. The only thing you are fighting for right now is whether you get a reprieve and stay in the cells for a term deemed appropriate for your crimes or you die. I guess the choice is really yours, Boyd” I say softly.
