MasukChapter 4
Five years later…
In Wolfbourne city…
Killian was now an accomplished businessman and the alpha that everyone dreaded at the mention of his name.
Just in a span of five years, he had built an empire that shook the entire business world, and his leadership as the alpha had seen the Silvermoon pack expand its territories beyond the borders.
He was the most feared alpha and the respected CEO of Thorne Empire. He had a beautiful fiancée by his side, but he somehow felt empty.
He felt as if a piece of him was missing, but he could not tell what it was.
“Alpha Killian, your father requests an audience with you.” Beta Andrew said as he bowed respectfully.
“Let him in,” Killian growled in his low voice as he rubbed his tired eyes.
Damien Thorne entered the secret chambers and looked at his son. He shook his head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
“What is wrong with you, son? How long are you going to lock yourself in here?”
“Dad, what brings you over?”
“The Bluemoon pack elite members will be coming to the full moon ceremony. I don’t know why you haven’t marked Lyra as your mate yet, but I am sure that they will be chasing for an explanation.” Damien said.
Killian looked at his father and spoke his true feelings, “Dad, I want to break off this relationship.”
“What?” Damien was stunned. “Are you out of your mind? Why do you want to break off your relationship with Lyra? I thought that you guys were doing great.”
Killian contemplated before he said, “Dad, I thought so too, but I can’t just find it in me to mark her as my mate. I have tried so many times in the past five years, but something keeps pulling me back, and I don’t know what it is.”
“Son, that could only mean one thing.” Damien looked at his son with a serious expression. He seemed to have understood what his son was going through.
“What is it, Dad? Please make me understand.”
“Your mate bond with your destined mate was not completely broken. You can’t take in another mate unless you have completely severed ties with the mate that the moon goddess had chosen for you.”
“What? How is that even possible? It has been five years already, Dad. And she accepted my rejection, too. In fact, I haven’t sensed her presence in the pack since that night.”
“Son, some things are beyond our control and comprehension. I don’t know why the moon goddess chose her as your destined mate, but maybe you shouldn’t have rejected her.”
“Dad, isn’t it too late to regret now? I don’t even know where she is. Whether she is alive or dead, I have no idea, plus, she was just a worthless omega, what good could she have done to this pack if I had accepted her?”
“I don’t know, son, but calling off your engagement with the Lyra won’t be right either. You are already twenty-eight years old without a mate. People are already whispering.”
“I don’t care about what people say. All I know is that I am not happy with this alliance, and I am tired of dragging my feet. I want to end it as soon as possible.”
“Son, your relationship with Lyra will be very beneficial to our pack. She is of the alpha blood, and once you marry her, your alliance will be formidable.”
Killian shook his head. He seemed to have already made up his mind, “Dad, I have accomplished everything on my own without anyone’s help. I think that I will be fine on my own, with or without a mate.”
Damien looked at his son and shook his head. His son seemed to have inherited his stubbornness, and there was no way he was going to change his mind.
“Son, then don’t do it today, you might invite unnecessary trouble. Wait for the full moon ceremony to end before you end your alliance. You don’t want to make an enemy out of the Bluemoon pack.”
“Okay, Dad.” Killian nodded.
“I will get going. I have a few things to take care of before the ceremony.”
“Okay, Dad.”
Damien almost bumped into Lyra while he was leaving. He looked at her and smiled, “You are here?”
Lyra smiled in return, “Yes, Alpha Damien. I have been trying to reach Killian, but his phone is switched off. I had no choice but to come over.”
“Uhm, he has been quite busy, and you know how he is when he buries himself in work. You can go in and meet him.”
“Thank you, Alpha Damien.”
Lyra was really beautiful. She had long blonde hair that cascaded down to her waist, her face was really beautiful, and with her blue eyes, her beauty was out of this world.
Damien loved her because she was very respectful, and she knew how to maintain relationships.
If his son had marked her as his mate and made her Luna, that would have been great.
Lyra entered Killian’s secret chambers, but she did not see him anywhere.
Lyra frowned. Damien said that Killian was here. Where could he have gone?
Just as she was about to leave, she heard the sound of water running.
Since Killian spent most of his time here, he had a separate bathroom where he usually freshened up.
Lyra walked towards the sound of water as her heart rate increased.
They had been together for close to five years now, but Killian had never touched her. She had tried all sorts of schemes just to get the man to at least even kiss her, but she had never succeeded.
Lyra looked through the glass wall and saw his figure. It was just as she had imagined.
Her face blushed as a thought flashed through her mind. She believed that she was charming enough and no man would be able to resist her, not even Alpha Killian.
Lyra stripped her ball gown and tiptoed towards the bathroom. She did not want to scare Killian, as he might not like it.
Killian had opened the tap, and cold water was running down his body. He was used to taking cold baths whenever he was stressed or when he was unsure of what to do about a situation. Taking cold showers helped him clear his mind.
Lyra went in and hugged Killian from behind. But she never expected that the man was taking a cold shower in such cold weather. The moment the cold water touched her skin, she yelped.
Killian was brought back to his senses from wherever his mind had gone. Feeling the woman’s soft hands on his body, he stiffened.
A distant memory of a woman hugging him flashed through his mind, but before he could get hold of it, it vanished.
Killian turned around and, seeing Lyra’s face, his expression changed. He hurriedly turned off the tap as he asked, “What are you doing here?”
Lyra ignored the discomfort caused by the cold water and pouted her lips, “Babe, you have been ignoring my calls and messages, so I came over to see what has been keeping you busy.”
Lyra looked at Killian and started to draw circles on his chest. She directed his hand, and it grabbed her juicy a$$.
“Today is the full moon ceremony, aren’t you going to make this night special for me?”
Killian looked at her. He wanted to push her away, but something in him seemed to have been broken. A face that he thought he had forgotten about appeared in his head, and before he knew it, he leaned over and started to kiss Lyra.
Lyra smirked in delight when Killian started kissing her. She had not even used her seductive skills, and the man could not wait to devour her.
Lyra returned Killian’s kisses. She directed his hands to touch her wherever she wanted and soon wanton moans came out of the bathroom.
“Ah, babe, I have been waiting for this for a long time,” Lyra said as she twisted her waist. She was already so wet that she could not wait for Killian to enter her.
She moaned as she touched his phallus that could not wait to meet her wet core.
“Baby, what are you waiting for? You can just mark me and make this night even more special to me.”
Killian moaned as he kissed Lyra. His mind was filled with an unfamiliar figure, and he seemed to have shared such a moment with someone, but he could not remember who it had been.
Just as he was about to enter Lyra and make love to her, something inside him snapped, and he returned to his senses.
His eyes cleared, and when he had a clear look at what almost transpired, his heart skipped a beat for some unknown reason.
He hurriedly covered himself with a towel as he looked at Lyra, “What are you doing here? What is the meaning of this?”
Lyra could not believe her ears. She looked at Killian as her chest heaved up and down, “What? What do you mean? And why did you stop?”
“Lyra, what game are you playing?”
“What? Killian, are you okay? You are the one who started kissing me like your life depended on it, and now you are asking me what games I am playing? Have you been toying with me?”
“Who allowed you to come in here? Didn’t you see that I was taking a shower? What do you think you are doing? Aren’t you even ashamed of yourself?”
Lyra was shocked that she could not believe what had just happened. Was Killian out of his mind?
They were engaged, for goodness' sake, so what if they made love?
“Killian, what is wrong with you? I have been waiting for this moment for five years, and you just decided to ruin it?”
“I…”
Chapter 67The forest was quiet as Selene walked back toward the main path. The silver glow around her had softened, but it still shimmered faintly under her skin.Every step felt lighter, almost guided, as if the trees themselves shifted to make space for her. The wolves who had witnessed her victory followed her for a short distance before slipping back into the shadows.Selene paused when she reached the main road. There was a calm in the air that she had not felt before. It wrapped around her like a gentle blanket. For a moment, she simply breathed in the cool night air and let her heartbeat steady. The Moon Hunt had exhausted her, but the moon token in her pouch pulsed with warm energy that kept her grounded. The silence broke when footsteps approached. Killian’s warriors stepped into view first. Their eyes widened as they saw her standing tall and unharmed. A few of them dropped their gaze in quiet respect before Killian appeared behind them.Selene froze when his eyes met hers.
Chapter 66The clearing glimmered with moonlight as Selene held the sacred moon token in her hands. Its silver surface pulsed softly, resonating with the lunar energy that now coursed through her veins. Her aura, glowing faintly but steadily, illuminated the surrounding forest in a surreal light. The rogue spirits that had attacked her moments ago were gone, dissipated by her awakened powers, leaving only the enchanted wolves as silent witnesses to her triumph.Selene took a deep breath, steadying her heart. Her mind replayed the chaos of the forest, the rogue spirits’ relentless attacks, the narrow escapes, and the intense focus that had guided her every move.It had been terrifying, but it had also been transformative. She could feel her strength, her instincts, and her intuition heightened beyond what she had ever imagined. The moon token was not merely an object; it was a symbol of her connection to the pack, the forest, and the greater powers that watched over them. From the edge
Chapter 65The forest grew darker with each passing moment, the moonlight barely penetrating the dense canopy overhead. Selene’s senses were stretched to their limits.Every rustle of leaves, every distant snap of a twig, every faint whisper of movement set her nerves on edge. The rogue spirits Morgana had sent were no longer subtle; they were bold, circling her with a predatory patience that made the hairs on the back of her neck rise. She crouched low beside a fallen tree, taking slow, deliberate breaths. “Stay calm,” she murmured to herself. “Trust your instincts, observe, and don’t rush.”She could feel the spirits moving in patterns, testing her reactions, probing for fear. She knew that a single misstep could cost her the moon token—or worse, her life.A sudden chill swept through the clearing. Selene’s ears twitched, and she realized that multiple spirits were converging on her location from different directions. She counted five, no, six. One more than she had sensed initially
Chapter 64The forest seemed to close in around Selene as she moved deeper into the Darkwood. Every step carried her further from the clearing and closer to both the moon token and the dangers that awaited. The shadows twisted in unnatural shapes, and the wind carried whispers that were almost voices. The trees themselves appeared alive, their twisted branches stretching like fingers, as if testing those who dared enter their realm.Selene’s senses were acutely alert. She could hear the subtle rustle of leaves beneath small creatures’ feet, the faint trickle of a hidden stream, and the low, resonant growl of the enchanted wolves that guarded the token. She bent low behind a moss-covered log, listening and observing. Her wolf instincts guided her, warning her of hidden traps and unnatural presences.Meanwhile, Astrid’s presence in the forest was loud, almost intrusive. She moved quickly, aided by Morgana’s magical enhancements, while her elite warriors flanked her, eyes sharp and alert
Chapter 63The forest was silent, yet it hummed with a tension that pressed against every nerve. Silver light spilled through the dense canopy, casting long, twisting shadows on the forest floor. A thin mist curled between the roots and moss-covered trunks, moving as if it were alive, whispering secrets of the night. It was a forest of mystery, a forest that demanded respect, and it would not be lenient to those who entered unprepared. Tonight, the ritual of the Moon Hunt would begin, and only the most skilled, the most observant, and the most cunning would prevail. And that was the third trial for the position of the Luna!Alpha Ashton’s voice echoed through the forest, "Tonight, you will enter the Darkwood Forest," he said, his tone formal yet commanding, the words rolling over the group like the gentle, inevitable flow of a river."Your goal is to retrieve the sacred moon token, guarded by the enchanted wolves of this forest. The forest will test your strength, your wit, your sense
Chapter 62That night, Selene felt a warmth in her heart that she had not experienced in a long time. Maybe it was the excitement from the trials or the overwhelming joy of being recognized by the people of Silver Moon Pack, but tonight, she wanted to be close to Killian more than ever.According to the rules of the contest, they were not supposed to share the same space freely, but Killian always found a way to be near her. He always seemed to know when she returned home, and tonight, for reasons she could not explain, Selene longed to feel the comfort of his presence.Their embrace was long, warm, and unspoken, full of everything they had been through together, the trials, the misunderstandings, the moments of fear and doubt. Her voice trembled slightly as she whispered into his ear, "Killian, I want to be close to you tonight."Killian felt a rush of emotion that made it hard for him to think clearly. He had missed these moments more than he had realized. Ever since the misundersta
