Chapter 169: Obstacles

ERIKA'S POV

That night, Amiel visited me in my dream. She summoned me to the top of a rocky hill that had water running out from every rock on it. We sat on two rocks, discussing, while water rushed below our feet.

The sound of the running water became somewhat of a distraction. Amiel waved her palm over the water and every drop froze where they were. Even the tiniest drops in the air froze and hung there.

"Wow," I gasped softly, "you're amazing."

"Thank you," she said with a chivalrous smile.

"So, what happened with the mermaid queen?" I asked her.

She giggled softly, "We no longer fought."

"Ah... Why?"

"She submitted. We were two and she was all alone," Amiel said.

"I heard the mermaid queen is very powerful. I heard she controls the whole ocean," I said to Amiel.

"No. She's not that powerful. She doesn't even rule the whole ocean," Amiel said. "There are other beings in the water whom she is terrified of. And that's why she seeks more power."
