JULIETTE

Darius finally permitted me to return to my room, and the first thing I did was jump on my bed and open up the book, ready to explore the documentaries and stories of the Diplomatic Goddess.

I read, my heart hammering in my chest from excitement, page to page, I read, starting with the origin of Kianka. The book described her as tall, beautiful, sharp, witty, smart, intelligent, and defiant. She was the last child of the Alpha's commander, General Andres. Born in the 1800s, she was raised in the Silvarian Pack and was trained to marry the Alpha's heir, Elyan.

Kianka was young, sweet, and pure. She was full of life and had a zeal for adventures, but all that was cut short at 15, the age she was betrothed to the Alpha's heir. Their marriage was set for two days later, and within that short span of time, Kianka managed to convince her soon-to-be husband to wait until she came of age and found her wolf.

During this period, Kianka was called a witch, who had used her charm on her betrothed to get what she wanted. She was sentenced despite the lack of evidence against her for practicing forbidden magic.

“Assholes.” I scoffed and continued reading.

Fortunately, Elyan was supportive of Kianka’s decision for reasons that weren't stated on the page. He helped her escape to a neighboring pack, promising Kianka that as soon as the issues died down, he would call for her to return home.

And so, the adventures of Kianka began…

A knock on the door jolted me out of my bliss. I raised my head, glaring at the door.

I was barely into the book, and someone had chosen to disrupt me at this moment, the most part I was excited for.

Who else could it be, if not Darius? He must have sent a guard my way.

Sighing, I got off my bed and slid the book under it, before proceeding to the door, and partly opening it. I stuck my head out, and my gaze landed on Ria.

“Hey,” Ria said, slightly waving at me with a wide smile. “Sorry to disturb, I heard from a gossip that the Alpha set you free. Thought you might want some company, so I came.”

“Urm.. Can I come in?” she asked politely, her tone cheerful but i really don't want to let her come in, I have a book to read.

I sighed at last and pushed the door open enough for her to enter. “Thanks.” Ria sighed walking in and heading over to my bed.

Thank the Goddess I hid the book from prying eyes so I wouldn't have to answer some unnecessary questions.

“So why did you come?” I asked, plunging into my bed.

“Sorry, I know this is new, but I just wanted to check up on you. Also, I didn't have anyone to speak to.” She said, and only then did I realize Stacy wasn't with her.

“Where's Stacy?”

“The Alpha gave her a leave, her brother called in to inform Stacy of her mother's health. It's terrible, and she's on the verge of death. It's a miracle the Alpha let her leave to check up on her mother, else Stacy would have been devastated.” Ria explained, I was equally surprised Darius would be thoughtful enough to give Stacy a chance. Maybe a tiny part of him wasn't as rotten as I thought.

“We should remain positive, hopefully, Stacy's mother will be fine,” I reassured her, but Ria pursed and curved her lips to the side.

“I don't know…” she trailed off, looking away, prompting me to gently touch her shoulder, “What's wrong?”

She blinked and I noticed her eyes were beginning to water. “Hey, what's the problem?”

She sniffed, brushing her palms against her eyes. “Stacy isn't just my best friend Juliette, she's my sister.” She swallowed and sniffed, “Not biologically. I am an orphan.”

“Oh…” I foolishly blurted out.

“Sorry.” I apologized, instantly regretting my dumb act.

“It's not a disease, Juliette,” Ria chuckled, “Stacy’s parents adopted me when I was five, and we have lived together ever since, bonding and becoming inseparable. Stacy's mother is my mother, she had been sick right before Stacy was taken. The debt came from her medical bills, and now it seems all those efforts would be going to waste.”

“So why did the Alpha take you as well?”

“He didn't. I work here as a maid, but Patricia treats me like the rest. I am still an omega, regardless of my reason for being here. I spend most nights with Stacy, making sure she is safe around the walls of the palace, and sometimes I go home. However, I have not returned home in a while and I feel like shit knowing I could have been there for my mother.” A tear dropped out of Ria's eyes and I was quick to wipe it.

“I am so Sorry, Ria, I sincerely have no idea what you are going through, but if you truly love your family, then blaming yourself shouldn't stop you from spending the last moments with your mother, Stacy, and the rest of the family.”

I sighed, my throat suddenly drying up as I recalled my mother, “I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to my mother. My father didn't even let me see her one last time. He said it was for the best, yet it haunts me when I think of her.”

Ria glanced at me, her eyes red and glossy, her nose already, a shade of pink. “I am sorry about that.”

I flashed her a small smile and nudged her shoulder, “I think this is the moment Stacy and her family need you the most, don't let them down, Ria.”

Ria nodded and heaved a long breath, “I should go.” She wiped her face clean and took my palm, “Thank you, Juliette,” she said, and embraced me. I patted her back before we pulled apart.

“I will tell you all about it when I get back.”

“I will be waiting.”

As soon as the door shut, I reached under my bed and pulled out the book, turning to the page I stopped.

I didn't even read the first line when another knocked on my door. Maybe Ria forgot to tell me something. Deciding not to get angry, I slipped the book back under the bed and left for the door.

Pulling it open, my initial decision was to smile, but it died down the moment my eyes landed on him.

“Darius.”

“Hello, little pet.” He smirked.

  • Alpha King Darius   Restless

JULIETTEDarius should have been the last person I ever thought of running and breaking down. Heck, he wasn't supposed to see me this way. Yet I found myself buried in his arms even after he led me to his bed.On the other hand, he equally surprised me, or maybe it was just the shock of the moment. He didn't question me, didn't push me away, or use this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move me and show his superiority.Instead, he held me, tight enough to keep me secured, he caressed my hair to soothe me, and whispered words like, *it's okay,* and *You are alright*.Now that I am in my right senses I can't get over the fact that I chose Darius as my solace. In what world was I thinking? Maybe I just felt overwhelmed when he kept to his words and gave me the chance to find out the horrible truth of my life.My father betrayed me, played with my feelings for fifteen whole years, and my mother? Whom I loved more than anything in this world. Not only did she destroy our family, but she

  • Alpha King Darius   The truth

JULIETTETWO DAYS LATER…I halted before Darius's door, still contemplating the next step to take. I was torn between knocking and making my presence known, and just walking away to avoid Darius's ridicule. But I was haunted, barely getting any sleep after that realistic dream I had. It left me shaken, and every attempt I made to get it out of my mind led to nothing.I needed answers to the questions that plagued my mind. I needed to know if my mother truly died or if my father chose to lie to keep me from wondering what happened to my mother. It was hard to accept a new truth after fifteen whole years. I just couldn't.So I pushed back my fear and pride, placing a gentle knock on the door.“Took you long enough.” Darius's voice boomed from the other side. “Come in.”With a racing heart, I pushed the door open, slowly striding into the room. He was on his bed, with a book in hand and weirdly reading glasses. He looked different, harmless, soft, like a professor, a dangerously hot one.

JULIETTE“Rise and shine sweetheart.” A melodious voice whispered into my ear and I stirred in my bed. I recognized the voice in an instant, my eyes fluttering open.“Mom?” I called, surprised to see her by my bed, staring down at me with her beautiful eyes and contagious smile. “Good morning, pumpkin, I trust you had a good night's sleep.” She asked, leaning down to peck my forehead.Confused, I pushed myself up and swept my gaze around. My lips parted in shock. It wasn't in my tiny room at the castle; I was in my old room from when I was five years old. Everything was the same, from my favorite pink flower blanket to the lilac-painted walls; the only difference was my size. I wasn't five, but my mother didn't seem to notice. This had to be another realistic dream.“Pumpkin, is something wrong?” My mom asked, reaching to touch my face, and I let her, watching her reaction as she caressed and pinched my cheek.“No, Mom, I am fine, just tired from sleeping.” She patted my cheek once m

JULIETTEMy door opened minutes later, and I cocked my head, expecting to see Lilian. Hopefully, she was here to help get this dress off me.However, to my disappointment and somewhat relief, Darius walked in. His presence filled the room with a heavy authority that clung to him like a second skin, making the hair on my neck stand. His gaze settled on me, tracing every inch of my body as he strolled fully into the room, something flickered in his eyes. Admiration, desire, or possession. I wasn't sure, but I caught his lips twitch, no smile no smirk, just a stupid twitch.“Just as I predicted,” he muttered, his tone rough around the edge.I spun fully to face him, raising my chin. “Predicted?” I snapped, grabbing the dress in my hand, “This is what you do the moment you return, play dress up with your little pet.”Darius narrowed his gaze,” What are you talking about?” He asked, pretending to be oblivious of the games he keeps playing.“You know exactly what I am talking about,” I repl

JULIETTETWO DAYS LATER…Finally, Darius’s arrival was announced, and the palace erupted into chaos as everyone rushed outside to welcome him.Well, everyone except me.He left without a word, so why should I bother pretending to care about his return?Besides, with more than a hundred servants, maids, and guards scrambling to greet him, I doubt he’d even notice my absence. And even if he did… I wouldn’t care.At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.Because a part of me knows he would notice. And then he’d storm into my room, his eyes burning with fury, determined to punish me… to touch me. . .No. No, Juliette. Stop it.What a stupid thought to even let in. I hate his punishments. I hate his arrogance, his words, his smile, his body, his face. . . everything about him.Darius is my enemy, and he will always remain that.He ruined my life. Degraded me. Chained me like I was nothing. He deserves my wrath, my hatred, and my revenge. . .nothing else.A sudden knock snapped me out of

  • Alpha King Darius   Special people like me

JULIETTETHREE DAYS LATERThe past few days had been nothing but dull since I returned to my room that night. Darius hadn’t sent any maid or guard to call me, nor had he shown up to my room himself. It was as if he had vanished into thin air.Disappointment hit me hard when I learned that he had gone to attend a summit without me in the neighboring town, a meeting that was mandatory for all Alphas. I spent half the day wondering why he hadn’t taken me with him.I was nothing to him, just a slave he brought along whenever it pleased him. The summit, being such an important event, made the truth painfully clear, it drew the line between my imagination and reality.“Juliette? Are you in? It's Ria.”“And Stacy.”Their voices boomed on the other end, my thoughts cleared up immediately, a smile tugging at my lips as I jumped off my bed, and strolled to the door, pulling it open.“Hey, guys.” I greeted them, letting them in, but they didn't bother stepping in. “Is something wrong?” I asked,
