He took a deep breath, trying to control his temper as I could see his jaw clenching and unclenching. “There is no cool in acting strong.”

I pushed the pizza away and grabbed my bag before standing up, “I’m finished eating. Is this all? Then I need to go.”

I started to walk away and I somehow anticipated for him to stop me and throw some lectures at me but he didn’t. Instead, he was quiet as I was leaving.

I closed the door behind me, and I caught sight of his emotionless face watching me. I couldn’t even read his mind, but that’s none of my business now.

The sky was blue and there were a few students left at the school at this time. I don’t mind going home at this time, but I could think of the time and couldn’t help but imagine all the bad things that my stepmother would do to my aunt. My feet instantly hastened with just the thought.

I go on with my plan again. This will be the last time I go to this school. This will be the last night we’ll spend the night there at my stepmother’s place. Tonight, I’ll pack my aunt’s belongings discreetly. With the money that my stepbrother gave us earlier, we’ll finally leave that damn place.

I had already spotted some cheap apartments to temporarily stay in and I’ll work two jobs to support both of us. We’ll somehow survive, I know we will.

As I got closer to the house, I felt someone’s presence behind me…as if being followed. I grabbed my bag tightly, not wanting to get robbed as my savings are here. Is it a robber? A kidnapper? An assaulter? Panic filled every step I took and sweat formed on my forehead.

Whoever it was, I had to make sure I could fight for myself. I’m strong. I know I am.

I continued walking normally, trying to act cool, and using my peripheral vision to see who it was, but found no one.

Weird.

I quickened my pace and it felt like whoever was following me also fastened. Gritting my teeth, I tightly clutched my bag and started to dash forward into the streets and empty alleys. Times like this just make me wish that this area was a bit busier and had cars that would sometimes pass by…just to give me comfort that I would have someone to ask if ever I needed help.

I continued running, my breath running out as my heart felt like bursting from the adrenaline rush. I groaned in pain as I felt a sharp pain in my back, feeling like a big hand scratched it. I tried to reach out my hand to my back and was right.

It feels like a claw mark. I hissed in pain as I felt blood coming out. I have to get to my aunt sooner! I sniffed the air and smelled a foul smell, like a street dog.

Was I just…clawed by some wild dog? In the streets?

I turned around to confirm it and saw a figure. I was partially right…but instead..it was not just some dog….It looks like…

Almost like a wolf? But a big wolf. I don’t know, I’m not sure as I couldn’t see clearly with the sky turning dark and the figure behind me was too quick in a rampaging, biting down the nearby tree and then running around. I was rooted to my spot as I didn’t know what to do next. I wanted to drag my feet and run while the attacker was still distracted but a gasp came out of my mouth as he tried to jump on me.

I shrieked and closed my eyes, anticipating the attack but a cold wind brushed past me.

Two men appeared in front of me, their backs facing me. I couldn’t clearly see them as my mind was going hazy and I fell to the ground, the pain in the wound on my back now increasing and I felt like being burned. I wanted to throw up and I tried to catch my breath.

“Finally, these bastards finally showed up. That was easy, let’s hunt the others, Alpha,” I heard one of them say with a cheery and familiar voice. Where did I hear it?

“Catch the others. I’ll take care of her.” A deep intimidating voice ordered, and the man with a cheery voice replied, “Alright, Alpha.”

I wanted to open my eyes but all I could see was the fire. A huge raging fire and a tall man carrying me, his musky and earthy scent lingering on me.

“You’re finally safe, my mate.” That was all I could hear before blackness took over me. As much as I wanted to fight over the sleepiness, his arms were comfy and offered a warm feeling to me.

  • Alpha King's Damsel in Distress   97 Epilogue II

“He just really takes after you. Seeing him reminds me of when you were first staying at the pack. Reckless, disobedient, and immature.”I chuckled, I guess Adrian really takes after me. I can’t deny that. Ace’s eyes were droopy. I let him sit in the living room and made him coffee in the kitchen. When I was done, he was not sitting on the sofa anymore. I searched for him and made my way upstairs to my children's bedroom.Ace was sitting at the edge of Kaira’s bed. He was silent, just staring at our child, Adalric. He tucked his blanket and kissed him on his forehead. Ace then walked to the other side of the bed where Kaira is sleeping. I see our daughter hugging him in her sleep. "Love you, daddy."I can't help but smile sadly. Ace is so busy that he can only see our children once in a while. I know he really misses them, so much that he ditches his work always, just to see his children. I stood in the hallway, watching them. This is their only free time. I should not interfere.A

"Ahhh!"An earth-shattering cry woke me up from my senses. I immediately stood up from the sound. It was from the living room of my throne. Ten years had passed by and I had been kept busy with my throne, my three children, and missing Ace.He had been busy managing the pack….Just then, the realization hit me.No...it can't be...Grabbing my wand from my drawers, I placed it on my waistband to conceal it, making sure it is within my reach. I headed to the living room as soon as possible and I was frozen at the sight in front of me.There, lying on the ground is a child, red blood splattered all over his body.I hurried over and carried the child, my heart beating frantically. I checked his pulse. Still not sure, I also checked his breathing and-"Prank!"I stopped at what the child yelled to me, chuckling.I stopped for a moment...and laughed with him. Laughed at my stupid overthinking and sighed in relief. I chuckled. He never learns."How was it, mommy?" Asked Kaira, the youngest am

  • Alpha King's Damsel in Distress   95 Ten years later

ALPHA ACE’s POV 10 YEARS LATERBeing a father has not been easy, but I am aware that Kira's job is three times harder than mine.I was staring at my wife as we both lay in bed.I breathed in deeply, smelling her shampoo, the scent I associate with my own house, and I sank deeper into her long hair. I looked into the identical eyes that had made me fall in love."Adrian is training for his alpha duties, and Adalric and Kaira are at their spell class, babe," I said with a devilish grin after thinking, "It has been a while since we are left alone."Kira innocently lifted her beautifully groomed eyebrows and asked, "So?”What do you mean by "so"? I sneered. I leaned in and chuckled, "Oh honey, you're playing so hard to get now. You know exactly what I'm referring to.." I slowly trained my hands on her shoulders and she gave me the look.“We're elderly and already have kids, honestly, babe, why do you get that much stamina?” I laughed as I jokingly patted my hand away.To show her how har

Two months passed by. After a few brainstorming, Ace and I finally decided on a name.We decided to name him Adrian Zaire.Adrian because I want it to start with the letter A like Ace. Means Dark in Latin and Rich in Greek.Dark because I had given birth to him during the time of darkness, but I knew he is going to bring me the bounty of happiness. And Zaire because my baby is fond of Rivers. He likes to stare at the waters that I had to build a water fountain on the entrance of our throne. I also transferred to the river near here so I could watch over him when he decided to play around when he grows up. I woke up with a fresh start, wanting to go and take Adrian and let him have some vitamin D by letting him bathe in the morning sun. After spending time with my little Adrian and breastfeeding him, I made him burp and made his return to sleep. He looks healthier now and looks more alive as he had some melanin. Baby Adrian is also growing up at a normal rate, so I am glad I could sti

Waking up every day is not as depressing as it used to be.Since our baby was born, I woke up feeling lighter and happier. And I’ve never been contented in life than this…He’s our ray of sunshine. As soon as I wake up smiling, I would cuddle with Ace, and leave before he’ll do something with his hard-on and push it to me….I must save myself…..Then I would go to the nursery room that Ace made for our baby. The room was simple and adorable. With wood carvings and more cushions and mats so that when he grows up, he would not get full of wounds and stumble around.Ah, the thought of a child running around a house excites me. But our baby still hasn’t grown. He is still a delicate baby and a week old. So I am taking extra care when dealing with him. Plus, we still haven’t chosen a name for our baby.So it has been a week since we have been calling him our baby. I tried to list names, but I am still stressing over what to name him. I thought I could name him Selyse if he were a girl

“Ah, Kira!” Arya yelled.Alpha Magnus chuckled, “Who was it who was tearing up after seeing Kira faint? And then fainted too?”“Tsk, leave Ace.”“Bastard, stop mocking me.”“Oh shut up, who was it couldn’t bear to watch my birthing?” Asked Alpha Kamilah, her eyes looking at her mate and Alpha Magnus went quiet.“Your baby is a fighter. He ate his twins…you could have birthed to three…” said Gusev.“What?”“Shh, she doesn’t have to know that.” Everyone is here. Laughing. And it felt nice that it felt like a get-together again. Something like a reunion. As if were old friends trying to bond again. HiExcept we have a plus one now.I felt a bit sad that I couldn’t show my baby to my mother and let my mom carry her.How nice would it be if mom was still alive…I shook my head no.
