Chapter 49 The Gang Leader

"Why didn't you tell Father about such a happy event beforehand?" Father said with a smile as he looked at me while holding a wine glass in his hand.

"I thought you already knew about it, didn't you?" I replied, looking at him warily.

"But I still wanted to hear it personally from you, my daughter. I'm so happy for you, my child."

His words gave me goosebumps, and I naturally knew he wasn't genuinely happy for me. His threat to Lionel to abandon me this morning was still fresh in my mind, after all.

"Anyway, since Alpha Lionel had chosen you and abandoned Jenna, I won't try to get between the two of you. As far as I'm concerned, you and Jenna are no different."

I sneered. No different? What about all the suffering I had to endure over the years?
